"Feeling the power shaking your robes" pretty much won the conversation for me!
Awesome video guys! I like your dynamic and that you had both approaches, both with attitude!
Next video: Try copying Guillaume's rig on a budget (with real amps and no modelling) and than blindtest. That would be fun.
And then WITH modelling.
Dude, the black tele Kris picked is where it's at! That thing is SWEET!
I mean Guillaume stole the show with the man in a robe with the tiger and a pet shark =)) Great video and amazing sound 🤘
Yeah i have to give that to him. Pet tiger and shark, cigar and robe... sounds like a character in a Hollywood movie. 😆 //Kris
Great video, always fun to watch.
What about another classic one? The 1958 Gibson Flying V! Let‘s go guys!!
awesome picks guys. i would've chosen the same amps. too bad that thomann doesn't stock two-rocks. i was very surprised that G did not pick a masterbuilt strat :D the black tele is very sexy. i would've loved to hear a murphy lab LP with the friedmans. awesome sounds!
"In a ... people's world", smoothest improvisation ever!
Money doesn't matter... As soon as Guillaume hits his first chords... Man! This is the most professional studio ready sound I've heard so far!
And the sound engineer wouldn't have to spend hours tweeking knobs...
Really really really impressed AND worried at the same time on how much the sound is good.
If the premise was most expensive rig, Guillaume had the right approach, Kris had the right attitude (in getting stuff he'd actually play), but neither went far enough. Where's the wet/dry/wet rigs with the outboard rack gear? A Eurorack sidechain just for an 8 bar section of one tune? Go all out lads, don't be modest.
You both are awesome, both rigs I’d love to keep. It’s sort of a tie for me, cuz I dug the Black Tele that Kris chose, and the pedals and amps Guilluame chose
In the beginning of the video I could immediately see the multiple vovox cables on Guillaumes side. I stopped the video to get some popcorn because I knew this is gonna get epic.
I would choose Kris’ rig everyday!!! He pretty much nailed it on choosing everything I’d love to have at my disposal. And that Tele is absurdly stunning!!
Both are winners !! ☺
Brilliant video two great rigs, but that black Tele, won it for me.
Need both, together on stage riffing off of each other for a whole set. Together they're more than twice as good!
Finally Guillaume's selection unveils his real image for a perfect guitar and it is a Tele of course! great selection Kri's guitar is insane the only relic I really had loved in a single sight in a long time!
K for the win on all three elements. Good fun video, chaps.
I have the eventide H9 - in my setup it works, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. The quality is amazing and the things it can do are great. But it can only do one thing at a time, and for the things one normally needs it, there's cheaper and equally good alternatives. But if you need one of the special effects, it's amazing.
Kris,
As always I enjoy your guitar 🎸 playing abilities. Incredible talent. Of course both of you chose a Tele. The cost of everything is outrageous and things would get stolen on the road tour. I can't pick a winner but either rig I would keep home 😅
It's funny because I probably would have chosen very close to what Chris chose and I didn't think the stereo Friedman's would have worked as well as the wet/dry Plexi Dumbleish combo but I think I liked the Stereo Friedman rig more.
Personally I prefer the "Get what you really love" approach. But I can understand both concepts. :D I guess my guitar choice without budget would have been some kind of PRS Modern Eagle Ten Top (if I went to choose one guitar only), a Suhr PT15 I.R. Head + Suhr PT15 2x12 Cabinet, and like an overdrive, a distortion, a reverb, a delay, a wah and a volume pedal + tuner + nice Cordial cables with Neutrik silent plugs. Would have cost like 14.000€ in the end.
Nice sounds guys !
I must say I prefered Kris' rig. It sounded more like ... Kris than an expensive rig made up just to be the most expensive. 😂
But I must say that I am blown away by the fact that you don't wear any ear protection, even though you have 4 amps cranked in the room at over 110 Db.
Thanks a lot man! I couldn't help myself, had to go for my dream setup. 😅
About the volume: it's a big room and the amps sound very pleasant. No harsh frequencies, no feedback, nothing. That's very important and this combination makes the volume actually comfortable. Also the mic for the dB meter is way closer to the cabs than our ears, so we don't get the same crazy volume as that. Cheers //Kris
On bass you can go nuts with a Noble Preamp, A Cali 76 compressor, Eventide H9, Phil Jones or Genzler stuff... add a Fodera 5 figure bass...
The sheer ridiculousness of Guillaume's rig and vision with shark, tiger and robes gets me.
But
I appreciate how Kris built his dream rig
And used proper sounding fuzz 🙃
For 36000€ I believe I could hire Guthrie Govan to come over with his rig and play instead of me, and sound much much better.
😂😂😂
Probably off a digit
Okay, but what are you left with when he leaves?
My 1977 telecaster into my Carr Mercury is just fine for this old man. Only one pedal here. A Visual Sound Open Road.
Guillaume really sold it there at the end.
He really went all in. 😆 //Kris
I've wanted someone to do that just for the fun of it for awhile now 😆
I don't have much money myself, so it's not that it matters to me a practical way. It's just for the enternainment. And maybe also that because I've never had much money, my brain sometimes goes "if I had a stupid amount of money, what gear would I actually buy?". Not that expensive stuff really matters as such, but it's an interesting thought to have 😆
thank you!
This looks like one of the best days at work ever 😂
Its a choice between, clean or dirty. Normaly i would go 4 dirty, but in this case i go 4 the 21000€ one. The hole rig i mean. ❤
I would have gone with a guitar that has a SECOND output for a piezo bridge, so now you can have another amp and pedalboard (maybe) for the acoustic side.
And I substract points from both of you for not haveing actual Tape Delay 😅
You are fully right and we most sincerely apologise for that. 😆 Shame on us. //Kris
Extremely disappointed not a single Bad Monkey was included on your Pedalboards
Only pedals that they could get from the store, sadly.
@@edbrito-swdev lol maybe when Digitech re-release them we’ll be lucky enough to see a video of a rig with 314 Bad Monkeys…
No limits 🤘🏽
Can’t we combine the rigs for a quad sound mega rig?
How did you not both fill a 56 space rack and a WDW triple full stack rig? Amateurs I’ll start amassing my Ultimate rig list and send it off, don’t hold your breath it’s going take a while to fill out. I’ll put it in my “G said anything for you bud “ wish list 👍🏽
Guillaume: "..very expensive tuner...."
G-string: "Hold my beer...."
Hey Kris and Guillaume! Such an entertaining episode, building rigs for close to 2 days of my salary…
I kid, I kid! (or maybe not…🤔)
But the challenge now would be to replicate the same tones with the cheapest equivalent gear from Thomann…
Better yet, send the set up to Josh and have him do it, just so to set the gear world into a frenzy again!😂
Interesting how you both picked the tele as guitars of choice…
And oh yes, the noise at the end does sound expensive!😂
Wow❤ close your eyes, and it sounds just like a Katana 😊
Is that Terry Kath Tele now going to be available as B-Stock? Asking for a friend … :D
Yeah, G' right. For 36000£ in my country, one could afford a new fully furnished 2BHK house and a decent sedan!
You guys are so funny. Kris won the fuzz and G won the G clean haha
Kris Wins 🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic ❤ now, do a rig you would take to a rough pub , for a cover set 😊 remember beer will be flowing and girls be rocking 🥴 think roadhouse 🙈
Haha, I love the idea! Noted. Cheers //Kris
Love it.🎸🎸🙏🙏👍👍👍🌷🤟🤟🤟
The most expensive rigs and not a Gibson Murphy or PRS Custom Core in sight..
I said it many times: Spielkinder. Aber herrlich ihr beiden!! Wer von Euch war anschließend in der Personalabteilung und hat um eine Gehaltserhöhung gebeten?
Haha, wir freuen uns einfach, dass die Personalabteilung uns herumspielen lässt. 😆
Das hat mega viel Spass gemacht. Etwas herum träumen eben. Danke für's Zuschauen, Frank! //Kris
Jessica wins this ! Easily ... Kris wins the Fuzz competition ... nothing beats a Tone Bender ... but G ' s rig js just more badass ... by far ... and his critique of Kris actually presenting a super expensive clean tone is correct ...
I guess all these comparison videos I watch just justify my thinking of just a basic pedal ,nothing expensive and fancy, and learn how to use it. Almost all my board is used modded pedals. 12 pedals $1200 but that includes EBS Gold flat patch cables various sizes, power unit, used board with carry case. Built 4-5 yrs ago and no changes in 3 yrs. Never no problems dragging to whatever shows I've been involved with.
I would love to see one of you just use a cheap beat up acoustic and a 50K pick just to win the challenge.
I need to give this to Guill just for the two 4x12 cabs. Idealy, he should for four 4x12 of course.
Kris has extra points for the Tone Bender. It sounded ridiculously good. Do we have any info of BPC is now clean honest company? They had some very shady history.
Funny thing is, that both guitar are Teles. What should be the cheapest electric guitat. And no Gibsons there 😱
While sitting in my bathrobe smoking a cigar… sorry Kris. Bill wins. For nothing else it’s the Terry Kath Tele. But I must say I had to take off 5 points because “Bill” didn’t play any of Kaths guitar licks! That’s almost unforgivable.
I saw this and finally realized I have a problem. My board is more on the boutique side, so I have to say I spent a bit more on my setup. 😢 You do have me beat on the guitar cost, though 😅
amps?
@@stanislavmigra Budda Superdrive and Two Rock Eric Gales model. Attenuated by a Fryette powerstation 100
@@Bairov Awesome
@@stanislavmigra Tell that to my wife 😀
Enjoy :)
All Teles 👍👍👍👍👍
The imperial is as close to perfect as one can get
I liked both rig but to think of the amount of money there is in these rigs and realise it sound good but not 36k good ^^
C'mon guys! Most expensive rig with just one guitar each?? At least 2 man! 😉😎
Kris! Such a missed opportunity to go wet-dry-wet!
Such an expensive Tele 😂. Guess I would love to have an American one, but this is too much :D
You didn't count the Neumanns in! 😆
Guillaume's rig is insane but i much prefer Kris's Tele! It will be interesting to see rigs in all price points! 1000 euros , 1500, 2000 etc!
Now for the girls to do the same with bass rigs etc
I mean... The guitars sounded like a Tele would...
The silly part about a "challenge" like this is that you very quickly reach the point of diminishing returns in music gear, and beyond about $2-3K USD for a guitar or amp, you aren't really getting anything "better", so you are spending money for exclusivity and status. A $2500 guitar or amp arguably plays and sounds somewhat better than a $1250 guitar or amp, but a $5000 or $10000 guitar or amp doesn't play or sound better than a $2500 guitar or amp, at all. That $20000 Fender Custom Shop poseur guitar doesn't play or sound better than an $1800 Fender American Professional II Telecaster.
$2-3K USD per guitar or amp or pedalboard will buy you professional quality gear built to withstand the rigors or gigging and touring. For $10-12K, you can easily outfit your self with a guitar, a backup guitar, an amp, a backup or stereo amp, and a pedalboard, plus cases and cables sufficient to tour the world and play the most prestigious stages without embarrassing yourself. In the grand scheme of things, $10-12K for a professional musician or serious amateur is not a large investment.
Kris wins because it wasn’t just price. He selected things that he would use to get great tones that just happened to be expensive. Guillame seemed as he was overly focused on how expensive it was and managed to still sound…good but not remarkable.
Kris won!
K's guitar, G's amps, none pedalboard. There's too much useless things on both :-)
I challenge you to do rigs good enough to label them "professional" but you have to carry them yourself to gigs and don't be worry about it. Like answer to the question: where is the reasonable border?
First one has the better sound
Instead of making it as expensive as possible build your individual dream rigs if money wouldn't matter, next time. 😏
Both sound good but Chris sounds like he’s playing in a shoebox compared to that!
The heavier rig won. G just nailed it. Sorry Kris;)
Did you know how many stray cats and dogs this amount of money would save?
5:21 not cool to call someone‘s death „epic“. I looked the name up and this is the guy who is quoted: „what am I gonna do? Blow my brains out?“ And then he really died from a self-inflicted, unintended gun shot. Tragic, but not epic at all.
Waste of money
No budget and they pick done to death Teles and some generic "edge of breakup" tones. Thomann, you need some employees with imagination :/
Thats the time to post this kind of content when the people are affraid that they cant pay their rent ore energy anymore and get homeless 😂..but i dont like this kind of contend anyways..just my opinion😊
Regarding my previous order, order number 202230.241916, the amount was withdrawn from the bank, and the order did not reach me for 7 months. Why?
