Julie thank you for the super grocery haul I appreciate it and enjoyed it so much. Of course I do watch other cooking shows especially Korean so when I saw this I felt like I was in heaven because I don't have a Korean market near me but I see I still learn a lot from you and I appreciate your videos. Thank you. Julie

this was very helpful, you made everything simplified which is awesome!
Wow, this was done 7 years ago .. I felt exactly as you mentioned, I would walk into a Korean grocery store and feel overwhelmed now knowing what anything is but thank you for this video. I am a newbie with Korean food although I been eating it for years but now for once I am getting to know the names and what they ingredients are for. Thanks Julie, this is a great beginner's guide and for starters .. :-)
I was one of those people that would walk in and out of the Korean grocery store. I'd grab green onions and grapes from the fresh section then packaged ramen then Pororo seaweed snacks because my kid LOVES them and rush out! This has really helped. I used your list to shop last time and my taste buds have been super happy ever since. Thanks so much for this. Only problem, now I'm addicted to goguma!!!!
This is so wonderful and informative, I love how directly you speak on various topics, my ADD brain loves it!
Thank you for this video! I love exploring different grocery stores and using new and different ingredients. But it’s also great when someone explains ingredients and showing what’s in stores.
So glad you think so... it's exactly the reason why I wanted to film this video!
Thank you for this wonderful video! I have a H-Mart close to me. Your video has helped answer so many questions. Now I need to watch your previous seasons and looking forward to your upcoming videos. You're the best!
I bought all of these on the last couple of weeks yesterday was a huge haul.
I got noodles, sesame leaves, fermented soybean paste, the tofu, the green Korean peppers etc. I'm beyond into Korean inspired dishes this year hahaha thanks for the extra info and future recipes
Love it! Once every few months I go to an Asian grocery store and randomly buy things that look interesting. No idea whether it's Korean or whatever... then I try to make tasty foods from what I have. I've seen the pickled radishes, and now I have to have some. Thanks for the tip.
Very informative! Would love t learn about Korean cuisine...looking forward to season 4. I tried to replicate a tofu soup I had at a Korean restaurant...it turned out quite good, but would like to see how you would make it! :)
the best video on korean food I took pictures and will go to my local grocery store to buy these items. korean food is on the top five best food in the world
So glad I found this informative video. I just wish there was Korean grocery near me. Thanks for the great list.
Thank you for this easy to follow beginning to Korean ingredients. This has helped me immensely! My husband loves this type of food and I love to cook but have very little experience in this cuisine. This video made me an instant sub 🤩 Thank you SO much! Can’t wait to binge watch 🥰
Thank you for this. The basics is where to start.

Thanks Julie. I've always been a fan of Korean food😋😋😋 I am sooo lucky to watch your vlog and now I am looking forward to learn more recipes and to understand how to use the different ingredients in Korean gprcery store😍👏👏👏💗
Thank you, it´s so interesting to learn about korean food. It open my mind for something else to taste. That´s wonderful. Great job.
You're welcome. I found this season to be challenging for me to execute because I'm not normally making Korean food in my everyday life either. But it did give me a new found appreciation for the food I grew up eating, and I was happy to add my own twists where I could.
LOVED this video. Such a helpful and well-thought-out guide to Korean ingredients.
+pinkapples33 Oh good... I'm glad you thought so. Wish I had time to share more! There's still so much I left out of the video!

Thanks so much! That's nice of you to say...
Awesome video. I love my local Asian grocery store. Couldn't get by without it :-)

+Jazzie Red No problem! Glad it was educational for you... that was my main objective... to take the scary element out of going Korean grocery shopping.
I really appreciate how you organized and presented your ingredients.
Oh thanks... just kind of went with what made sense to me!
So informative! As a Thai/Khmer man, I love Korean food.
Yippeeeee! I had fun at the Korean grocery store ~ now that I know what to do with these things!

This brought me back to Korean grocery store shopping back in anchorage Alaska lots of Koreans there. Now living in northern Florida have to go 30 miles each way to the Asian store. The store in your footage was massive.found it to be helpful.

Thanks for the insight into Korean Ingredients & cooking techniques. Looking forward season 4, all the best.😊
+FunForShez No problem. I know it will be a little challenging for our viewers who aren't used to Korean food, so I was avoiding doing this season for a while... haha. But the time has come! Gotta roll up my sleeves and do it!
I'm also interested in your actual shooting skills, particularly when you are cooking. I find it most interesting.👍🏼
ALL THE BEST 😊
Thanks so much Julie this really helped me understand great vlog xx
this is SO helpful for a non-Korean who has heard of so many of these items but never knew what they were in English or what to look for in the grocery stores! thank you!
Hi Fei! :) Glad you found this helpful... I totally agree with you that it's tough when you walk into a store and nothing is in English... you just want to walk right out!
Thanks so much for the product list. I'm not Korean but I absolutely love the food so much!!! It's also helpful in my weight loss. 🙂
Thank you so much for this video! Showing how to cook Korean is one thing(and you do a great job), but going into detail about the ingredients is even more helpful!! I am truly glad I found your channel and subscribed!! :)
You're welcome... glad it was a helpful video. Thanks for being a new subbie! Glad you found us too :)
I would like to know where I can get eomuk (Korean fish cakes in bamboo skewers) from Penang, Malaysia.
I am so glad to have found your KE cooking video tutorials! I love KE food & sure helps to have someone show how to make some of my favorite dishes.
I am just starting to develop a taste for the spicier dishes of KE foods. However, I also noticed I developed some issues after eating spicy foods.
Does your body gradually get use to the spicy food or once your develop problem then its game over with spicy food?
I loved this video! So helpful! I will definitely put it all to good use! Thank you!
Great! Glad you found it helpful... that's why I made it! :)
A cultural insights loving this season!
Good! I'm glad.
So informative and I can't wait until season 4! Also, I'm digging the gold nail polish ;D

Wow well said and done 👏 I definitely will continue to shop more korean food now that I learned more of this stuff thank you 😋
I was searching for Korean ingredients when I came upon your video, based on what I saw, I immediately subscribed to your channel. I love cooking Korean food and your receipes are easy to follow and cook. Thank you for your delicious receipes...
+Pat S Thanks for being a new subbie! Yeah the whole point of our channel is to make cooking easy and approachable... glad you're enjoying it!

Enjoyed the video and great information. I am excited about going to the Asian market and now I know what I am looking for. Again, thank you.
love Korean food ,just stocked up on Kimchi and Gochujang, new subscriber looking forward to your recipes
Thanks for being a new subbie! Welcome to the community!
Great video Chef, thanks for sharing.
ohhhh! so excited for korean recipes! my mom told me a tip recently to add white onion outer peelings along with kelp and anchovies for broths. :)
+sarah lee Oh that's a nice tip... b/c I always just throw out the outer peelings... but that would be a good way to be extra resourceful. I usually just throw half an onion into my broths.
just found this channel and I'm in love subscribed with in a heart beat love this amazing job love your videos
+naomi sylvester Awww.. that's so nice of you. Thanks for subscribing in a heart beat! :)
All this time I have been so lost, thank you for explaining what to look for on the soup soy sauce, you are my hero 😘
Haha...thanks...glad to be the wind beneath your wings! ;) I know it can be confusing but it really does make a difference in soups. It won't taste as strong as regular soy sauce and it adds so much flavor to your stock!
Just found your channel and subscribed! Thank you for such an informative video!! I don't eat meat, and I know you cook with it often, but I love to watch videos like this for authentic inspiration to broaden my cooking skills/recipes! Shopping in a store where you cannot read or speak the language can be daunting so I appreciate the walk through of the "staples"!!
+hintofmintmeia I totally agree with you... I feel the same way when I walk into a grocery store where I don't understand the language either...so I get it! Thanks for being a new subbie. Glad you can find inspiration here!
thank you so much! this is a very informative n useful vid!!!! i love korean food!!
No problem +Sharon Adrienne :) I'm glad you love Korean food...that makes two of us...and happy that you found this video helpful!
Love your videos! Can you please do more cooking videos on Korean dishes!!!?
I really love to try
korean recipes but find shopping for the ingredients quite daunting, until I watched your video which was very informative,so thank u for sharing your knowledge.
Very informative!! Thank you so much!
Thank you. Your video was very helpful for me . I love Korean food I buy some times Korean products from them store but most of the products I don’t understand how to use it. Now I got more information after I watch your video and tomorrow I’m going to buy my grocery shopping in Korean market.
Great overview of ingredients. Cute when you called danmuji delightful :) You can also get the dried fish grounded like powder form, similar to dashi.
Yeah I definitely am thinking of getting that because it's easier! ;)
Best video about korean ingredients thank you.
Aw thanks! Glad you think so.
Thanks so much. I'm the go in and turn around and walk out person. Not any more. Once lockdown is over that will be my first new place to visit.
Loved it! Thank you! My friend made fermented paste in a jar. It was amazing! Unfortunately died without giving me a recipe. Looks like Ssamjang..she would sit on the floor with a ton of fresh mushrooms, anchovies, pastes, sesame, green onions, black bean..and put it in jars for one year. Sure wish I could make it again. I would love to know what it is. I would love to show you if you are in the Los Angeles area. Have just 1/2 C left!
Thanks very Helpful. I learned alot! I will enjoy more the next time I visit the Korean Store!😊
Good...glad it helped because I know it can be overwhelming or confusing!
Excellent information and wish I’d had it prior to some painful self discovery 😂
But only would recommend that you try and make your own Kimchi. I know I know, but having now made it, it’s not only an experience i don’t regret but the taste as it changes from
Day one , two, etc... is absolutely something to not miss out on!
It literally changes a bit every single day, and you feel very strangely protective and hoardy with your own batch 😝
Amazing video, thank you!!
OMG THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT I WATCH YOUR VIDEO, I JUST LOVE THE WAY YOUR EXPLAIN EVERYTHING
Haha... wow 3 times? Thanks so much! I'm glad you appreciate my explanations.
you explain everything so well and slowly
This was a very informative vid. Thank you.
Glad i found this one. Very informative. Now i know what the difference between gochujang and samjang.
Excellent! Just getting into Asian/Chinese/ Korean cooking! And H Mart definitely is an intimidating place. One thing I found is that on many products if you turn the package over/around there is English titles on the back, sometimes.
Very helpful for stocking up. Thank you!
You're welcome. Glad it helps!
Hello Korean 🇰🇷 inspired, delicious Korean dishes thank you 🌎✌☕😋🇰🇷🇰🇷, lot's of ingredients
Love your videos. Thanks for this guide
+skincareaddicted No problem! Glad you found this guide helpful!
thank I've learn a lots 🥰and love Korean food .just went out bought rice cakes today
wow..I'm glad I found this blog of yours, it is very helpful. I like grocery shopping in a Korean Market but most of the time I don't know which one to buy..the items are written in Korean. Thank you..this is very helpful.
+Grace Welsh so glad you found this helpful. I don't really stick to certain brands, so you can be flexible on which actual products you buy.
I'm soooo excited! do you remember, I think, was it an old Mervyn commercial, Open Open Open
+brewatch I don't think I remember that commercial. But I'm glad you're excited! Can't wait to share!
I love H mart!! When I go to California it is one of my favorite stops.
Thank you very much, when we were younger we lived in the predominantly, Chinese and Vietnamese, loved it the food and culture. But no Korean. I do appreciate you teaching us the variety of condiments. Literally thank you, now I live in predominantly Korean area❤😂😂😂
SOOOOO HELPFUL!!! Requesting a video on particular Korean brands for staple ingredients :)
That WOULD be helpful except that I'm not brand loyal for most of my Korean ingredients and I just different ones that are on sale!
Great video 💕 thank you! I wish I had an Hmart here in Miami 😩 I have to drive to like three different marts to get all my ingredients
great video.
OMG, where was this video hiding? Perfect and I will definitely be the one watching the video as I walk the aisles on my next shopping trip. Thank you. Long live Kimchi. I can't live without it and often hide it from my husband.
Haha... I can imagine you watching this video as you go shopping...hilarious. Seriously, we always have kimchi around here!
Julie very interesting and informative information on Korean products whenever I go to shop at the store i find only Korean wording on the packages and not English and if i don’t know about it it’s hard to chose so thanks for the information.
You're delightful! Subscribed!
