My request is to have a shortcut that uses automation to respond to SMS messages: when I go on vacation, I would like my iPhone to automatically reply to my clients saying that I am unavailable and will return to work on a specific date. For the music to autoplay the genre you like, I created a station from a song using Apple Music, then when I created my shortcuts [arrival home & a ‘chill’ time automation with a few additional scene actions & focus mode enablement] I navigated to ‘recent’ when looking for the music and then chose the previously created ‘station’. Works out really well 🎶
As to the Vocal Shortcuts, liked the one 'Silence Unknown Callers' in the sense that the user is aware of the status of the shortcut. Enabled / Disabled. 🙂 The others seem to be slightly modified 'Morning Routine' shortcut that you gave in your previous shows. Thanks again Stephen. 🤝

I’m looking for a shortcut that can take dates & names from an excel spreadsheet (PDF file) and put the names on the dates in my calendar. And to make it more advanced. Automatically do that every time I get my monthly email with that PDF in it. Super crazy idea but I’ve spent hours trying to build that shortcut, and I’m not very knowledgeable in that. May I ask you if - similar to the alarm related to the calendar's cop shift - is possible to make something similar when you have different shifts? For example for a person who works at the Front Desk in a hotel thas has morning shifts (from 7AM to 3:30PM), late shifts (from 3PM to 11:30PM) and night shifts (from 11PM to 7:30PM). I tried using the one metioned above: I made different calendars for each shift and even if the shortcuts runs and has to ask me what time I want to set the alarm is okay for me. However nothing was working... at all! 🤣 Thank you in advance

There has been something I’ve been trying to do for literally years and I can’t quite figure it out. maybe you’d want to make a video about this, but I want to figure out a way to make those little buttons in your car that are supposed to open a garage door do some home automation stuff.. for instance I’m thinking: push the button when you are close to home and instead of it opening a garage it unlocks your front door smart lock.. I don’t actually have a garage but I do have smart locks on my doors.. any ideas???
Hey and welcome to the channel! So homeKit locks are finicky and don't allow control like that with buttons. You have to do it from either your iPhone (unlocked) or your Apple Watch with a Siri command.
@@beardfm hey thanks man, you’re correct you need to authenticate on a phone you’re correct however.. you can use a smart outlet plugged into the wall to trigger a home automation to unlock the door. It’s a little workaround I’ve been using for years… The issue I run into is I can’t figure out a way to trigger that smart plug from whatever protocol the car garage door buttons use. I don’t know. I know it’s a very niche issue/inquiry but it could be interesting to try and solve if you wanted to! You got at least one person VERY interested haha

I really really need a HomeKit automation to gradually turn off lights. If no motion detected in 2 mins, dim the lights to 80 percent so the person in the room know they need to move to insure the lights do not turn off.

It won't work for Watch or AirPort, but you can setup an automation on iPad that when battery level drops below a certain percentage, trigger a Get Content of URL action with Pushcuts. I have the Aqara P2 door sensor, and in the Home app itself, there’s a direct notification setting for the sensor which can also be set at specific times.. why push app and all that? Yeah, honestly I forgot you could specify the hours directly in the home app for a notification like that. BUT with Pushcuts you can create notifications for when a door is left open, and that's something not possible in the Home app directly! Unfortunately there are no actions to get text *from* a whatsapp message. Although I think you can tap and hold it and just translate it from the contextual menu there.
It shouldn't. Are you trying to make it work with just a Focus Mode? You may need to jump into the Shortcut and edit the Focus Mode name to match yours.
A shortcut idea I’ve been trying to dial in and need help! Combining your multi-destination shortcut with walk to cafe. Build a shortcut that asks you for a text input and not addresses. For example find Walmarts near you, then give the driving time and distance for the top two locations with the ability to then choose which one to go. When you choose it automatically starts your route to that location and then tells you the driving time and distance audibility. Don’t know if you are working on this one, but I’d still love to see an automation that takes all new photos taken and puts them into a photo album called “inbox”. From there, if you move or add the photo to a different album, it would automatically delete it from the “inbox” album. I really want to see this!!! @beardfm

Oftentimes I don’t need to have something clipped for a long time, and so this would be a great option for that. I use OneTap for my main clipboard manager as of right now.

Some third party weather apps offer Shortcuts, like Carrot, and you can swap out those actions!

You can setup an automation like this but need to use "wait" commands for it to step down the brightness.

I was trying to automate the water lock on my Apple Watch to turn on and off with the lights in the bath room.
Unfortunately water lock isn't an action in Shortcuts right now

Unfortunately, app notifications aren't a trigger in Shortcuts just yet.
I’m having an issue when I enable voice shortcuts it disables my volume toggle. I’m running the Public Beta

Unfortunately there are no actions to get text *from* a whatsapp message. Although I think you can tap and hold it and just translate it from the contextual menu there.
