Yeah, being a bass player from that era, he not only has excellent chops, he's got a great sound as well. Sounds like it could be an old Acoustic 361, which was and still is, a lot of bass players choice, especially for live performances.
I hope " The Doobie Brothers" live as long as I do on this planet because I couldn't imagine being on this planet without the Doobie Brothers being around. Such a happy song.
@@johantrenier1685 I'm with everybody !! Simply put, A Great Rock and Roll band !! Fantastic concert/concerts. They have it all. Vocals, rhythm guitar, tasty lead guitar licks, percussion, powerful bass lines, everything!! Was my 2nd concert I ever attended back in (I think) '82. They raised that bar pretty damn high for future shows and few came close. No pyrotechnics, fancy light shows,..... THEY DIDN'T NEED IT ! When you can write music and play like that, that's a wrap baby ! Here's to the Doobies !! PEACE from Philadelphia
I'm an old schooler from way back and the Doobies have been a part of my play list the entire time. I can take a dose of Listen To The Music, or The Doctor, or China Grove, just to name a few and turn a bad day into a better one with these guys feel good style of music.
So right! I remember when I was a kid my dad played that album so much, I think my mom was ready to scream, lol. It's a wonder he didn't wear the needle down to a nub.
The documentary on this band is really fantastic just like the ones on Kansas and the eagles who also started in the 70s now it's time for Kansas to also get inducted into the hof
These guys are great! They rank up at the top in rock not like these fake no talent geeks of today. Where's rock n roll bands today! I only like a couple of bands today.
this song got me a night in jail back when it was a hit on AM RADIO IN MY CUDA 340 doing 98 in a 50 mph causway in nahant mass next morning went with a crew to cleanup the beach then went home to bed ya looking back at it iwas a stupid kid that survived it and live to tell the tail ya it was worth it love that song china grove too
I was a bit annoyed that the video showed most of the musicians, but neglected the bass player. (full disclosure: younger daughter plays electric bass, so I notice bass lines)
people move your self its the Doobie Brothers, Man what a band.............................
How come I never noticed until now, all the extra guitar playing by Tom, on this song?
Is this a slightly different version?
Saw them around 20 years ago, they were great!
Still cookin 50 years later, check out that harmony
The Doobies are one of those rare rock bands who sound better live than in the studio. It was always all about the live shows with those guys.
Agreed. The only other band that I immediately think of is better live than studio is Dire Straits
Eagles and Doobies are the best at replicating their studio sound.
@@dylancrichton2227 Agreed, but Glenn Frey era Eagles. Ever since Glenn died the Eagles have been miming. It still sounds good but it’s not live
Listen to that bass... the lines are just rockin!!
Yeah, that Bass guitar line in this song is killer, bet it's a bitch to play too!
Skylark rules!
Tiran is genius.

2022 and beyond!! Timeless, really...
Listen to the bass line.
Yeah, he's cookin'.
Wow. You are so right Lauren.
I hope " The Doobie Brothers" live as long as I do on this planet because I couldn't imagine being on this planet without the Doobie Brothers being around. Such a happy song.

Hi Tom and Pat!
Thanks for keeping me company.
Tom Johnston is an underappreciated talent. What a great performance this is of a song heard not often enough.
Real talent
Right x7jf, Tom Johnson is defitnitley an underappreciated talent. This is the kind of music that makes one want to conquer life.
He also looks like someone you want to have your back if you get in a bar fight...looks tough as nails!
lots of people appreciate

Pop probably wore out the vinyl grooves, @googleuser4443.
The Bass And Rhythm guitars really Keep this moving!
One of the best live bands you'll ever see. Ageless wonders.
The documentary on this band is really fantastic just like the ones on Kansas and the eagles who also started in the 70s now it's time for Kansas to also get inducted into the hof

Janelle Lizotte DITTO! The Doobies’ music brings back the best memories EVAH! 😆
Class of 1976, whats yours? Doobies still rock.
Rocks harder than the studio version. This is what is meant by good time rock n roll.
Keith Knudsen, great drumer and singer.

John Mcfee later on formed Southern Pacific.
so happy TJ is going well, I used to help him on paradise drive
Who is the guitarist in the leather jacket?
Tommy..got..the..key.......
This band here would have had Justin Bieber run off the stage peeing his pants. This real talent. Not today's talentless musicians.
Right on.
I get in my Dodge Challenger and ride to this. 😎
where is the other bass player? missing his energy----like seeing him out front with everyone else
tyron quit the band. Skylark ( I heard) got sick and had to quit. They have another guy. I don't remember his name.
Current bass player's name is John Cowan
I was a bit annoyed that the video showed most of the musicians, but neglected the bass player. (full disclosure: younger daughter plays electric bass, so I notice bass lines)
if your pulse don't go up, then you missed it
Can't do the math... so just listen to the music
