Anything with opinion is good. When someone has something to sell, they will tell you it is the best. That said, put the brands out there and let people that shoot with them come back to you. So, yes, that's doing it right. BTW, I can't shoot with Tika, too small in my big hands. One of my friends will swear by his Tika and wont shoot my R8s. Horses for courses. K95? No bother give me that bad boy!
Hi Peter. Superb to get to meet you and chat again at the Northern Shooting show on Sunday. When you mentioned this video I was looking forward to watching the seven rifles that you were going to look at. A tough choice to make as they all look very good. I missed the Gunwerks at the show but that does look superb. I was however very impressed with the Bergara's when I had a look at those. They do look and feel a quality rifle and for the money you cannot fault them. I will have a guess that you will go for a make that you have not owned already in the .270 calibre. Looking forward to your next video that reveals your choice. Once again many thanks for your help regarding my enquiry for the PDS2 and approved verifier qualification. All the best to you. Kris.
The K95 is the most shootable and accurate rifle I have ever shot. I've got 2 R8s, which I can shoot with but that K95 ultimate carbon is beyond sexy! 🤩
A friend has the Merkel, and honestly I much prefer my R8. The Merkel action is just a bit - sticky. You have to be 'positive' to the point of aggression, at least on the one he has. The fact that you're looking for an option for 270 makes me think of Scottish hills, which makes me think about weight as a factor. And that makes me wonder if you might go for another K95. I think I'd either do that or get a second barrel for the R8.
Hi there, I’m trying to find information on everything needed to start deer hunting. I’m a complete novice I’ve never hunted anything in my life but really interested to learn. P.S. I’m not a bot lol I know I put this same comment in the last video
Hi Michael, if you are a complete novice the great way to start and gain the knowledge is by taking a Proficient Deer Stalking Course Level 1 (PDS1) via the Shooting & Hunting Academy, once learned all the theory part we will then introduce you to one of our Approved Verifiers (local to you) who can not only do your shooting assessment but also can become your 1 to 1 mentor and take you out stalking. Please visit www.shootingandhuntingacademy.co.uk/bundle/deer-stalking-course to find out more information but if you do have any other questions please drop us an email on info@countydeerstalking.co.uk
Peter, good to meet at the Stalking Show 😊. Merkel is clever engineering but complex to strip and service. Also, it is not easy access to the chamber if you reload your ammo. I have a bergera B14 and it shoots great. It's one of the early ones so it's in a KRG stock but their latest stocks look great. I would get the sauer. Paul@testvalleyvenison
Hi Paul, it was great to meet you. Yes, I have some reservations about the Merkel, in fact we are just about to publish a review on the CDS site which mentions them. At any rate, thanks for your thoughts here.
Have you got it right? A fair question. I'm somewhat of a fundamentalist where this stuff is concerned, it's just tools like spanners and hammers to me, a bit of balance might be showing the least fancy, generic, ordinary calibre you could find and do a product test, best budget bang tor buck ( you may use that! ), I think a lot of new stalkers, and people that we collectively are trying to introduce and attract to this urgently needed sport/lifestyle choice, are utterly turned off by the crazy euro prices being flung about here. I hear walnut stocks and carbon fibre and I just laugh, who takes a grand piano or a sports car up the hill? The best impala I ever shot was with a 70s era ak47 with a screw welded on instead of a trigger and a round leftover from a civil war. One dead impala, at hardly any cost. Id spend money on optics rather than the platform, and that lowfi background muzak has got to be challenged, imho. Keep em coming,
Have we got it right? As ever, please be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The Bergara’s looked good!
Agreed, great value.

I have to say, I completely agree.
