Thanks for the advice, I like to get as much detail in as possible, I actually cut five more factory and twenty reloads out as I am use to writing articles.
I agree, this Music thing is out of Control. Don't need to be all Jacked up, while Listening, Watching a Video. If I want to get All GTA JACKED UP... I can Down several Red Bulls.
Here in the states the Sako rifles have always been highly regarded. Hard not to choose the .308 win for normal deer and elk hunting distances. Very impressed with the near one hole groups you attained with a sporter weight barrel. For the non barrel burner calibers it's worth spending the extra 1k or so to get a premium quality rifle. One will damn near never burn out the barrel of a .308 win hunting rifle in their lifetime. I like the relatively light weight of the gun as well. No carbon stock and muzzle break needed in your configuration. The Sako 90 looks to be a serious contender for my next rifle. Great review!
Great demonstration. Thank you. I am looking forward to adding the sako 90 to my collection. In my opinion, the world's top factory rifle for decades. Most dependable in all weather and Temps.
I really like the ammo testing format you did in this video. I agree with the previous comment about the music. Would love to see more ammo tests like this
I just got the second Sako Bavarian rifle in 30-06 last week. I love it so much. Thank you for introducing. The first one is same but without iron sights. I think it looks best without a scope, I'm practicing hitting targets at 200 yards with just iron sights and standing position like you can.
I use the same exact setup for shooting prairie dogs with my Sako 85 204. Check your back rest. You are twisting it to get the correct elevation. Try setting up so the stock slides exactly down the center. I use 6"x6" pieces of 3/4" wood under the bag to get the elevation close then slide the bag back and forth for final adjustments. That gives me better groups. My Sako 85 300Win prefers Barns TTSX over all other factory loads I've tested. I shoot 150gr which are extremely fast.
would like one in 243. with a night force scope. the 90 hunter is a very well built rifle and the miner upgrades from the 85 makes it a instant classic.
As soon as they were released it made me wonder if you were going to upgrade your Varmit model or not. Sako should be sponsoring you with all the great videos you do.
Pretty shore because of an 11"Twist :-) in case of an 308 !Own a TRG 21 since 1995 and suprise suprise best Accuracy with 180gr Sierra MK !Can't understand wy using Bullets under 165 gr in this Rifle 😊
Nice review. One small complaint is that Sako still have the hard recoil pad in the larger calibers (9.3x62, 375 H+H, etc). But otherwise the 90 series seems to be living up to the Sako name. Thanks for sharing!
It is absolutely Absurd, Sako has had to screw around with trying to get A Sako rifle Refined. Sako, 75, 85, and now 90. These are semi custom Rifles, and they have made rifles for many years.... They should have had the rifle prefected.
The part of Texas I live in doesn’t require more than a good .308 rifle. We have a ton of hogs here some coyotes and some deer but nothing like Mule Deer or Elk so the .308 is perfect but I have a 30-06 as well just for craps and giggles. Love the new channel and hope to see your next adventure
It’s a good step up from the 85. I had an 85 in 2022 but it would not eject properly no matter what I did with it. I think this is the reason the 90 now has the double plunger. So far I’ve only seen short actions stainless/wood only with a weight of 7.3lbs 308/6.5 Creedmore and the same stainless/wood in the 7 Rem n 300 Win Mag at 8.2lbs Sako says they are chambering 270/06 etc but no weight or specifics is listed in the Hunter model. I suspect the 06 n 270 will be closer to the 6.5 Creed weight of 7.3lbs? For the price of these guns here in Canada you’d think they’d put on a decent recoil pad instead of that hard red hockey puck material they use. Since my last comment I contacted Stoeger Canada and the Hunter blue/wood model is only available by order and must be paid up front, delivery is a minimum of 18 months and this is in 270, 30-06 or other standard length action. One gun store mentioned Sako is having troubles with production so 🤷🏾♂️
My ordinary Remington BDL in 30/06 will poke all three rounds into a single jagged hole at 100 yards with 150 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullets. This older 30/06 shot 1 inch groups with Remington factory 150 grain core Lok bullets before I started handloaded with fireformed brass. Once the fireformed brass was necksized only and chamfered inside and out, the next hurdle was to find the perfect overall length of the cartridge and after many trips to the range, I finally found that sweet spot at 3.283. IT WAS WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT TO GET THIS REMINGTON GOING LIKE A DAM TARGET RIFLE.
I had 2 85's. A 30-06 and a 7mm rem mag, both had the ejection problem. Dead vertical ejection into the bottom of the turret housing, hard enough to dent the case mouths and laying the case back into the action. Made them useless as a hunting (culling) rifle.
Hi Yes but I only had reloads, see article in Rifle Shooter Magazine uk, I would love to put all the ammo and reloads on video but I think it would be too long?
You need to bring your front rest back a little so that the rifle can recoil freely. It is slamming into the front sling swivel stud each time you fire it.
I waited 12 months 9 years ago for a new finnfire 2 in .22 from new it failed to extract/eject randomly. Less than impressed. Now using a Lithgow .22 and mostly weatherby centre fires. Yet to have an issue with any. Even my ruger American .223 shoots sub moa no problem
The CONSISTENCY of accuracy from both sako and tikka has always been extremely exaggerated by their following. Most people that claim MOA accuracy don’t even understand it and then the try to prove it with 3 shot groups when 5 is the standard. I get it, if it is a thinner hunting barrel and there is no need to shoot 5 shots as the barrel will start to walk, but don’t call it an MOA gun with 3 shots
@@Colonel1Bravo I agree, but for sporting guns I tend to test three shots and then for varmint or tactical/long range rifles a five shot group is more appropriate. I also have to pay for all my own ammo and reloads that makes a difference too.
Nice but to expensive for this kid. A ruger Hawkeye will do everything it does with a claw extractor. At half the price. Oh yea lets not forget Made in U.S.A.
This isn’t criticism it’s just advice since your channel is new: too much and too loud music.
Thanks for the advice, I like to get as much detail in as possible, I actually cut five more factory and twenty reloads out as I am use to writing articles.
@@broadswordballistics I just meant the music. Video was fine I just think 15 minutes of music drowning out a lot of you talking isn’t great

Handsome rifle. Of course, I would expect nothing less with SAKO.

So nice with all the bullet testing👍
Thanks , I had to cut a lot more as it would make the video too long, all results in the article in Rifle Shooter magazine UK.
I to have thought about one of these but will see

@@LochTaupo lol thanks pal i wish Sako thought the same so do they come standard now with the 22half inch barrel.
@@LochTaupo Hi I still like being independent but have owned Sako and Tikka`s for over 40 years so have a soft spot for them to be honest.
Great review, brilliant rifle.
Good to see some wood !

It appears to me that a Sako and a Tikka had a one night stand and this is the results.
I guess you could say it is a love child.
the fact that they are from the same family has me concerned😧

Nice to see all the bullets tested out the box. We’re the home loads worked out on QuickLoad ballistics software?
Hi, yes I use Quickload Ballistic program to work up reloads as its a very accurate program.
I see lots of similarities to the CZ600 as well with that trigger
Love my Sock-O rifles! I have many rifles over my 60+ years of collecting but Sako are my favorite for hunting!
It's pronounced Sahco. Like with a Boston accent.
What a great review of a great rifle. Love Sako! Just a question and not a complaint. Do you know if you the pad can be switched out with black?

Would you recommend the standard bergara B14 Sporter or the B14 Ridge ?
Have these improvements addressed the ejection issues associated with the model 85?
There never was one. I own two, and have never, ever, had an issue.

Do they make bases for the 90's or you just use the old optilock?
They make also the Picattiny version of the receiver ...

I had a Sako Hunters Special 300win mag..from the 80s..I sold it I gave up moose hunting..Beautiful looking rifle..I almost cried when traded it in.

2.7 kg? Sako website states 3.2-3.3kg

А где стрельба 168…..180 grain? Твист средний а в обзоре только легкие пули
The only problem with any of the Sako,s is the bedding they should be like Tikka the amount of money you pay for the rifles the bedding is a shocker
