- This week we want to give you the 5 "simple" steps to buying a live-aboard boat, yacht, trawler, sailboat, or larger vessel for personal use.
As well as update you on where we are, why we are here and what our next plans are.
We are a family of 5 from Texas, we sold everything to go live on a sailboat, that didn't work out, so we ended up in a Yacht. We have moved to the Florida Keys and we are trying to figure all this out. Stay tuned to see what we do next.

Enjoy the life. I’ve lived it and it sure beats dying on the sofa!
Sure does
Catching the early videos and loving them, we are 22 months from buying our live aboard home.

Keep up the good work. It's tough, but your doing it. 😉
Thank you. How's it going?
@@WanderingKnapps doing good! Waiting for weather to clear up. 🙂
Great information. A bit scary with all the hoops, but great information.
Glad we could help. Are you in the process of buying a liveaboard? Thanks for watching.
@@WanderingKnapps we are window shopping on line till spring. Then whittling down what's"really" available. Several boats listed weren't actually available. Once we have our list we will begin to travel up and down the East coast. It sounds like it's almost impossible to finance an older boat. 1985-2005. I'd rather finance than use up all our cash on hand. Thoughts? Also trying to figure out how to send amazon items to you.

Extremely interesting video. I learned a lot watching this one. Seems like giving birth is easier than buying a boat. lol. Thanks guys.
Ha. Could be
I went through the same thing on insurance.. Don't have a survey.. So I bought liability insurance through Markel Corp, they were the only ones writing insurance in Florida without a survey for Liability.. Most marinas won't allow you in unless you have 300-500k liability insurance.. Once my boat is done, I'll get an insurance survey and add full coverage..
Thank you, we will check with them!!!!
Insurance is always a pain in the but no matter what type of insurance.
Agreed
Love the info! I don't know if you noticed, but the audio is off and very low. Perhaps a mic closer to your faces for the vlogs? I don't usually struggle to hear any of your fam. :) -fellow VIPKid teacher
Thank you for watching. We make videos every Friday. We've tried to improve
This is very good info we are experiencing this right now. Ins wants a slip lease and a boat, lender wants ins and slip lease and marina wants a boat before they will give a lease??? How the heck does this all happen?
right! That's why we decided against a catamaran and sailboat and bought an old cheep trawler. Eventually we would still like to upgrade. The bad part is, once you get it all ready to sell, it's just how you want it. That's where we are. We've thought about selling, but it's our home now.
Hey guys just watched some of your videos. I live in Miami and I want to start learning more about boats, especially living on one! Maybe we can connect. Hope you see this!
Hey. Thanks for watching. What kind of boat are you looking at?
Thank you so much for the info. I am at retirement age and want a hobby and a smaller (40' or less) trawler. I currently have a 24' Grady so it would be quite a step up. I am also entertaining the thought of buying a slip. What are your thoughts on that?
I have never looked into buying a slip. No idea how it works or if they hold value or really anything about it. Sorry I'm not more help. Thanks for watching!
My wife and I have been thinking of doing a live aboard when the kids leave the house but we have absolutely no experience. I am very interested in your experience.
Start binge watching. We cover all kinds of topics that should be helpful for you. the good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks for watching. Enjoy The Journey!
A captains license, 🤔I could dress up like the captain from Star Blazers.
