I love triads 😊
Still not caring about his age and still enjoying the video. 😊
Same here😂
Age?
Day 20 of asking for a Stratocaster
i dont wanna be f**ked by bar chords wtff
As long as you know the CAGED system, you will no longer struggle to find barre chords
Truee
Yeppers
You can really find any chord using CAGED you just have to tweak it here and there.
WHO THE FOOK BARRES THE B CHORD WITH THEIR PINKY?
I do it with ring finger, my pinky is not strong enough 😅
Myself, I find it easiest
I was about to say that…
@@BrotherMax6 I'm building my first electric guitar after playing acoustic instruments only for the past 12 years. I'm pretty excited to see how easy it is on electric😂
my teacher is trying to teach me with the ring finger i feel like it's gonna rip off
This guy can be so irritating but dammit it’s some of most digestible quick tips and tricks on problems I didn’t realize I had. Also the ss tele 👌
Hahahahahah I didn't know that other people thought that way too
Your language disgusting, my 8 year old daughter searching for a chord and she was shocked watching your video
Here is a Practical Hack from a long time guitar teacher. Very often, you can substitute an open B7 chord [X B D# A B F#] for the B chord. The B7 chord is easier to play and may sound "better" than a B chord in "certain situations". Try it out as an experiment and see if it "Sounds" better to you.
Bro calling the people who struggle with b chord noobs meanwhile only noobs barre the b chord with their pinky.
Brandon: “JUST LEAVE!!!!!!”
Me: *trolls him by staying*
One word: Inversions
This cringy british accent American guy has some good tips
This applies to every chord than right?
Yessir it does
Yes. When you play a chord with the root note as the lowest note, it's the regular chord, and when the 3rd is lowest its a 1st inversion, and when the 5th is lowest it is 2nd inversion.
If you’re asking that question, learn your fretboard notes first then learn your triads
Chefs, this is what we call triads and their inversions. Super powerful tools if you ask me, and very fun!
Do you HAVE to swear?!!
Or be a real one and learn how to do a barre chord lol
Yea those versions have no bass in them
@@TakeHit0 not the point at all. And these compact chords sound great in a mix and are better than barre chords when lots of instruments are involved. Also great for solos and funk music.
Barre chords are great but don’t turn your nose up at these triads. Learn them and learn to apply them. It’ll make you a much better soloist and band musician than barre chords will.
If being a real one means having no clue how solos work or how to play with a band or in funk music then sure, be real
@@Hello_there_obi 10 years on guitar + audio engineering. They don't sound "better" in a mix because there is no such thing as better. There is a time and place for either one in both your compositions and in a mix. There are other genres that require you to barre the whole chord, so it would suck to be you if you couldn't do it.
Btw, even if you barred a chord and high passed the bass notes out, they still wouldn't sound the same as just playing the triads on the higher strings. Context is key.
@@TakeHit0 then I should clarify what I mean: if you have a lot of instruments playing and you want everything to come through in the mix instead of a garbled wall of sound, less can often be more so generally musicians will play stripped back chords ie triads or even double stops.
This stops two instruments from playing the same thing. It depends yes but a lot of the time, playing the same note in the bottom as the bass player isn’t that great. I mean, that’s partly why jazz players use triads and shell voicings right? Whilst in other genres like punk rock, you get more stacking yes.
Have you been playing music for as long as you’ve been recording?
And secondly I stressed the importance of learning both. Not one over the other.
Bro is he barring with his PINKY?!?? Why not the ring finger??? Wtfffffff this man is a menace😂
Lol I thought the same 😂
Definitely the wrong way to play it if you’re going to barre
@@Hello_there_obino such thing as a wrong way to play. If you can play it, then it's correct
@@Iesous27 lemme put it this way: it’s the least ideal way. Let’s say you wanted to do a sus4, how will you do that when your pinky is already barring? If you bar with the ring, you can add your pinky for that sus4 embellishment.
It limits your options, is more a cumbersome way to play, makes sliding an a-shape bar chord up or down the neck harder and makes transitions from a shapes to g shapes more awkward.
Oh and you can’t transition from a bar chord to a power chord or a stacked power chord as cleanly or efficiently.
And another thing: hendrix did this trick all the time where he would play an a shape then immediately use the ring to slide up the a string and switch to a g shape with the third being played in the bass by the ring finger on the a string. You can’t do that as smoothly if you bar with the pinky.
So yeah, not a good way. Objectively worse in so every regard to the point where it seems retarded. Can’t think of a single upshot of doing it this way.
@@Iesous27 wellllll?
Because of this , I can confirm that I am a fookin noob 🙂
My advice for people struggling with barre chords: Fuckin figure it out, bud
Yeah but going from 5 or 6 string full chords to a triad on the treble strings just doesnt sound right, especially if you are strumming. Obviously they have their place but id still learn the full barre chord.
Hey!! As a noob I don't appreciate the way you talk to me!! Now send a few free lessons my way cus I still can't play the b 🤣🤣
His age is 83. Sorry for the spoiler
I mean…who in their right mind plays the first example like you did with their pinky 😅
Play it with your ring finger folks! Allows you to play a sus 4 by simply adding your pinky on the fret above your ring on the b string and allows you to transition to e shape barre chords with ease as your ringer just needs to become upright on the a string which is next door.
Never play it with your pinky either he’s trolling us or canadians have too many screws loose 😂
You can also do the bar chord but use three fingers on each string instead of barring one and use the first finger to play the f#
That way is for beginners and is generally a pretty bad and inefficient way to do them. Especially further up the neck - up there, this way is just silly 😂
@@Hello_there_obi it’s another way to play it I don’t personally play them like this but it does make the B sound fuller and nicer
How would you "use three fingers on each string"? I know what you're trying to say, but you haven't said it very well. 😮
@@aleki2904 it makes it sound too bright. And further up the neck it becomes impossible. Using individual fingers is mainly good for sus2 voicings. But for everyday barre chords people should barre with their ring fingers unless they really want a root in as the top note.
And this method of playing with three fingers for a “fuller” chord ie having that root on the high e string sounds a bit micky mouse - especially in a mix with other instruments. Having the major third on the b string as the top note by barring with your ring finger sounds more compact and interesting.
@@Hello_there_obi it’s down to preference of what B Chord sounds most pleasing and I agree it’s not a practical shape nor easy to transition into but it is another way to play it
You’re the best and you know it!!!!Love your vids.😊
bro looked me in my heart and told me to play triads over barre
And this is the b major code and this is the b major me..😑
Which way is the door 😭😭
Can I call you my guitar daddy
3:30
Bro called me out...
Boooooo
Probably around 19
Good but not best
I play it barre
B minor ..
Tq❤
And if you play acoustic JUST PLAY THE CHORDS! the more you do the better you'll get
The smoker you drink, the player you get.
Joe Walsh.
How does playing on acoustic make it any different 😂
they all sound different
Yeah they are different alterations and inversions of the chord, which affects the sound and function it produces. More or less it's different shades of the same color. If you want to paint a perfect replica of another painting you would need to use the same exact colors, but if you want to recreate it in your interpretation, or create something new but along a similar style, you can use a wider palette.
watch your mouth
lmaooo no
“I was fukt before I found this video but now I am no longer fukt. Thanks, D’Eon Music!”
“Hi. I’m Brandon D’Eon. Are B major chords making you fukt?”
Before I say anything else, I just wanna say thank you in advance for reading this if this comment somehowgets to you despite being almost half a year since this video was posted. (Also sorry this comment is a little long because of the disclaimer)
I’m looking for something specific that it seems like you haven’t made a video about. This is just a quick request, but can you make a video like this showing an easier way to play the B flat chord? I’m trying to learn a song that uses it, and I keep fucking it up.
This reminds me of that lady that says “That’s hip hop.” Only this is useful. Thank you dude! 😂 I can barre on electric. I cannot barre on acoustic.
O acorde de Si maior (B) é formado por 3 (três) notas: Si (B), Ré# (D#) ou Mib (Eb) e Fá# (F#) ou Solb (Gb).
Mannn barre chords be fcking me up
My fingers be wanting to give up
Why don't we just learn how to build a chord and how important that 3rd is when wanting minor or major
Dayamn... We love your videos... ❤
And it appears that UA-cam does too very much...
Cuz you get that free cuss card 😂
how bro is barring with his Pinky
Must be trolling us lol there’s no way anyone would play with their pinky it’s so dumb
This guy is trying way too hard. You’re not this kind of guy, and we all see through it.
I’ve never seen someone bar with a pinky… you got one strong pinky
Don't forget to always give your chords a little shake
i love your videos ❤ even i dont have a guitar.
I wish i have one tho
Obrigado pela ajuda!
Bro I already know your age.😀
That intro 🤣
I fooking loove your Guitar tone hoe do you get this tone?
Do you guys also bar your open A chord like you do with a 5th string root bar chord? I hate fitting my fingers inside of one fret.
Yes. For an open A chord just barre with your index and roll off at the first knuckle to mute the high E string. Much simpler and quicker method and it frees your other fingers to add embellishments.
When you play A shape barre chords though, use your ring finger to barre the three strings and for the love of god not your pinky like brandon is doing 😂 I sweat he’s trolling us with that one
@@Hello_there_obi I don’t mute the high e string when I do it and I use my pointer finger to do it unlike how I would with actual fifth string root barre chords.
@@kendricklyon9633 just to be clear, the high e is the thinnest string yeah?
So when you barre the open a chord with you index you play:
e - x -
B - 2 -
G - 2 -
D - 2 -
A - 0 -
E - x -
Mute the low e string with your thumb and the high e with your index finger by rolling off on the first knuckle of your index finger.
@@Hello_there_obi I don’t mute the highest string when I do it.
@@kendricklyon9633 when you barre with your index?
triads are so neat
the more i feel like i should learn how to play the guitar, the more scared i get...
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It will consume you.
Thanks man it means a lot 😇
I would have subscribed if you didnt say the cringe age reveal thing
if they're all the the same then why do they sound different?
Some are inversions.
Look up octaves and how we name notes. It’s a very basic principle easy to understand!
Is learning the fretboard in sharps better than flats?
Look up the circle of fifths and key signitures to understand why we use both.
But when navigating the fretboard without a key, if you go up, talk in sharps. If you go down, talk in flats.
Heres a quick explanation of when to use sharps and flats in a key:
Say you were in the key of G major. The formula for the major scale is : T T ST T T T ST. Where T is a whole Tone (2 frets) and ST is a SemiTone (1 fret). Simple!
Now start from G and map out the notes:
G A B C D E F#/Gb G
T T ST T T T ST
NOTE: the accidental (any note that’s a sharp or flat) is either F# or Gb. How do we decide which to use?
Use F# as you don’t use the letter G twice. And there you have it. Other keys will use flats to avoid using letters twice.
@@Hello_there_obi thanks, will remember T and ST, and not using repeated letters!
@@NaisanSama practice using the formula to work out the notes of all 12 major scales.
Try spelling out the notes in F major below if you want

Stop using swear words vulgarities and calling people stupid. It’s super jarring and insulting. Positive words uplifts the spirit, while bad words just tears and dampens the soul
