    It's very interesting hearing what 'foreigners' think of us as a country and as people. It warms you when it's good feedback and people likes Denmark :-) We're a good country!

    I'm no expert, but I know it's possible to get scholarships and/or grants to study abroad if you're American and you're attending an American college/university. That could really help out with the cost. I think it's probably best to attend an American school and study abroad through one of their programs. There are usually study abroad departments that help you figure everything out.

    I would like to go to Denmark. It seems a very nice place, but I'm sixteen and I don't know anything of Danish...

      I'm literally researching as much as I can because I wanna move outta America when I'm 18-19 (I'm also 16). I think its about 90 percent of Danes know english. And its the younger generation. The most I'd be worried about is the cost of living.

    I think they may be referring to the foreign worker policy that Denmark used in the 70s - when they thought they could get cheap labor that would pay into their welfare programs, and then return to their own country (Turkey, primarily) before they could draw out any benefits.
    They stayed, encouraged more to come in, and then Denmark closed down their immigration in the last 2 years to a trickle of what it was.

  • @MeNotyouxD
    @MeNotyouxD 12 років тому

    @crystalaccount Well you will need money to stay, or then either go back home or live as a hobo, but if your a hobo in Denmark, only danes will get a home and food and some money to live for, not people from outside. And if you get to live in Denmark, have some money, have a place to live, you might not get a job that easy, since the job rate in Denmark was getting really low but getting up again, and the people that live in Denmark want the job, and normally get the job. The video explain study

    And I'm not saying that's "racist" behavior - but they do seem to have an issue with non-white Danes (aka: "New Danes" as they like to call them), and there are cases where they are not equitably by the "Traditional Danes" - if you want to call them that.
    Denmark is a wonderful country - but like other countries all over the world, when pressured, ugly human tendencies bubble up with people against others in their country perceived to be "different".
    Denmark is working through this now.

  • @Graffenwehr
    @Graffenwehr 11 років тому +1

    Oh - one other thing - some of the newer "New Danes" have been coming from the Middle East - from places like Iraq, etc. I lived in Denmark for awhile - and have talked to these folks about issues they've into, how they're treated by their countrymen, etc. So ... there is some issue.
    But, as I said, to Denmark's credit, they're trying to work through it and figure out a solution (unlike the US, where we just sue everyone in sight).
    I'll be quiet now... =)

    • @red-zi7fg

      In Canada, we pay taxes for health care. So technically in Canada, health care is not free. On top of that medicines are expensive and not free except for poor families.

    Btw. quite a selfish attitude you've got there. And 40% isn't half.
    You need to pay for a lot of stuff anyway, taxes make sure you can afford it.
