In general Koreans especially the youth and well travelled ones (Koreans are great travellers) have a very negative image about India which is somewhat correct sadly as all that they end up thinking about India is crowded roads ( Thanks to their obsession with Pahadganj, unruly traffic, scammers, over population, unhygienic and dirty, curry, spicy food, lack of safety for girls (recent korean viral video in India) and an unsafe place for women overall.
Sadly this is the fact. A typical Korean tourist to India ends up visiting only Delhi (Paharganj, Old Delhi), Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi.
And honestly we all know what is the rate of development in terms of tourism infrastructure in these places.
It's hard for Indians to digest this as we feel proud of our nation irrespective of the shortcomings, but this is the truth. We tend to forget they are a developed nation and we are not and their expections are going to be equated with their country only.
Yes, I am totally agree with You and the Indian Tourism Department is not doing Well in terms of Development and cleanliness of All kinds of Tourism Destinations. They are totally focusing on some hotspot Destinations. We Indians should manage a good image in front of all tourists as well. Some stupids spitting everywhere. They don't know what they are actually doing. We should manage our culture as well as cleanliness. We should promote Indian culture in other countries and should create more influence on foreigners. Only Naan and curry are not Indian Food, there are a lot of Dishes Why Every Korean knows only those two dishes. We have to change it Now🙂😊

No. Their perception stems from their racist mindset. They call India ‘r@pe capital’, compare us with Sudan and Somalia but won’t say a thing against America where crime against women is much much higher. India doesn’t even feature among top 10 most unsafe nations yet it is stereotyped in the worst possible manner. I agree that cleanliness is an issue in India but our country is huge in terms of size, diverse in terms of demography, and it’s a democracy. I come from a tier II town and my city is clean with 24 hrs power supply. India is too big to be branded with certain stereotypes. It’s their problem if they just want to visit Pahadganj and not decent or cleaner areas of Delhi. Jaipur but not North east or southern states. Not even Noida and Gurugram. R@pe % per 1 lakh population is higher in Korea than India.

The image that they have in their head before landing into India also is based on some existing notions about us back in their homeland right? That too must be a representation of what is India by one of their fellow travellers. We can't deny that.
Secondly I fail to understand why the govt isn't focusing on developing the tourism infrastructure in the hotspots or across the nation. Look at South east Asia. They reap money from tourists who come to sip a cup of 3 dollars Coffe sitting beside a train track!!! And I see that happening in my hometown on a daily basis. All they did was captured the right thing at the right time.
Lastly, as you mentioned that they have higher rape % than India, this statistics maybe right but also that's because they get reported unlike India where not all cases get reported. There is ahuge difference.
For example: Kerala and Assam recorded the highest assaults against women. Does that mean that These two states are unsafe for women? NO!! It's because the citizens or women are conscious enough to report them.
There is difference.
But overall this image that that have against us is not the truth at all. It is only partially true and we are somewhat to be blamed. And this image of India goes beyond Koreans unfortunately.

Spreading culture depends upon the entertainment industry that is the most fastest way to get to know a country and their stuffs but since our stupid Bollywood and Hindi songs are so lacking and idiotic. No one is really interested in it.

There are still so many people in our country who doesn't know about Korea, that's the same there. You don't have to make fun of them if they just know about food.
Trust me, catch a high school girl and they might as well give you a lesson on korean culture and history. It all depends on the way they advertise themselves. K dramas and the music, really uphold their traditions. A lot of people have come to know about the different food korea has, the several different tourist locations. Meanwhile, we barely advertise it with something catchy. So the primary focus shoukd be creating something which is global, like some series or shows. And then show the places and food, cultures, traditions alongside it.

Bro, the reason they are unable to talk is because most koreans are intimated by people who can speak english. They are not taught english in schools and they are unable to express themselves properly in a foreign language. I traveled india several years ago. What made me disappointed and annoyed was not that india was poor, smelly, and dirty, but that I could not walk peacefully and safely on the streets. There were always beggers, scammers, and somebody who showed unnecessary favors to take my money.
