I’m most “shocked” by the level of detail on the leather parts of the costume with the sculpted detail and matte finish. If only they painted his eyes…
Such a _drastic_ improvement! What I've done when it comes to painting the lines that hasbro doesn't, I'll slightly delude some acrylic black paint with water, brush in the lines, let it dry for a handful of seconds, then wipe up the non recessed areas with a wet paper towel. So you don't have to have a steady hand or be great at fine detail painting for it to come out pretty nicely.
There's something about shocker that interests me more than Sandman or the other villain figures.
Great review!
I’m definitely painting in the black lines, it’s almost like having a Spider-Man without the black lines like we’ve seen before on a few figures.
Another one I was on the fence. Didn't like the lack of paint wash but damn it looks amazing after doing the lines in it.
Definitely out on the list :)
Thanks for the video.
For me I don't mind the absence of the black lines. In some interpretations he doesn't have them and his costume is pure padding. In the first two Raimi games, enter electro, asm2 game, and Homecoming, he didn't have black lines and the costume was shown to be more padded instead. Also, Fun Fact:
The V on his belt is because of his original name that Stan Lee wanted to give him, The Vibrator. However, co-writers told him that name was terrible for obvious reasons. So Stan renamed him as Shocker. Sadly, the artwork was already done and too late to change for the comic's deadline and the V belt had to stay. Goes to show that even the Legend himself, Stan Lee, is capable of making bad ideas lol
Stunning figure. Much improved by your painting in the lines.
I enjoy your style of review. I may not be big into customizing, but you give that little touch to bump the fig up in cool ways. Great review!
I was hesitant about preordering because I didn't like him without the lines drawn in either, but I never thought it would be so easy to fix! Thanks!!
Thanks to this review I got a Gundam marker and painting in lines left and right on my figs. 10/10 review!!!
Definitely, this figure needs a repaint for the lines of all the lines. GREAT REVIEW!!
Your painting of the lines took it to the next level! Bravo!
Absolutely awesome looking figure. I love the added lines. I may or may not do that when I get mine. So out of the figures which one is your favorite ? I think I like Ben the most but Hammerhead looks phenomenal and he doesn’t see to have the issue of the jacket riding up like it did on the happy figure. And this shocker is also very good … I don’t know tough choice :-) love the reviews!
Ben and Symbiote Spidey are up there for me. Overall, it's a strong wave, every one has its highlights, though Hobgoblin totally bombed
I see potential in every channel and I got to say yours is pretty underrated keep up the good work.
Great review! I've been looking forward to this one, and I eagerly await receiving the one that I have ordered! I'm definitely painting in the lines on the figure. No question about it. I used an extra small point Pitt Artist's pen to add in the line between the ribbing on the High Evolutionary figure's legs and arms, and that really helped the figure pop. Did the head details too on that one. I understand that Hasbro is saving a lot of money on figures by not painting in the lines between the diamond shaped padding of the Shocker's suit, but I wish they wouldn't be so stingy with the paint apps. I won't have any trouble adding in the Shocker's line work as I'm an artist and model hobbyist, but I don't feel like I, or any toy fan/collector, should have to. Hasbro does some nice sculpting work, but sometimes they make weird choices on where to cut their corners. Most of the time their designs are good, but they also make some odd decisions on face details, hair, etc. I'd like to see more effort on the more classic figures, because it sometimes seems that they make more half-hearted attempts where classic looks for characters are concerned. Sometimes the heads seem a tad big for the figures, the arms seem too short, etc. Re-use of parts is fine, but I question some of the choices they make. The Shocker figure is pretty decent looking though. Except for the missing paint in the grooves between the padding, they pretty much nailed this one.
Definitely regret not getting home because this guy is dope! So glad those cuffs aren’t separate pieces like they are only every other figure, hopefully they start doing this more
The lack of panel lining the crossed texture bugs me.. Hasbro getting real lazy.
Aside from that, this is definitely the best Shocker ML figure at the moment! I will pass this up since I am perfectly fine with the previous Shocker figure 😁
Great and detailed review! Especially like it when you show live how you use the Gundam panel marker to draw the lineworks on your figures!
Very true. He will probably be a hard figure to find. The paint is a bit sloppy and something that should be seen in store.
You just earned a subscriber Bc of the consistency in these reviews. Keep it up
Your review is very good! Highlighting important spots, comparison, and also you are not afraid to do mods to make them 100x better!
You're right, he does look like cheese 🧀 The yellow should be more well yellow when compared to the source material. Gloves should be red, I believe
A first-rate review and an awesome modification of Shocker and his cool accessories! ⚡
What a great tip!! Thank you! I’m gonna go out and get that paint marker
I got my Shocker figure today. I'm going to drawn those lines with a brown Gundam marker. Thanks for the tip.
Enjoy the process 😉
Great work with the marker and great review as well!👏
Thanks for the great review! I too have the older Toybiz version, but now think I need to get this one !
Idk why but Shocker has always been my favorite Spiderman villain.
I prefer the design with the brown leggings like the games
For sure the definitive Shocker.
Yes I’ve been waiting so long for this review.
Tough looking figure and the articulation is not too obvious. Before you used the Gundam pen, I was thinking about doing the same thing with a fine Gundam pen but wasn't sure if it was enamel based. Legends don't take well to some paints. The different color knee joint are welcome if it is durable. Great review!
The whole wave is great imo. Thanks!
When can we see Doctor Octopus, Scorpion, Rino and the Lizard from the animated series of this retro Marvel Legends line? Thank you.
hahaha, was just looking for a shocker review, 12 seconds ago this gets uploaded.
and you filled in the lines too, jeez man this is so good
Cheddar cheese shocker 😃
Honestly. I’d recommend getting the sandman version. Lines are already painted and he goes for way below 35$. Trend collectors are probably gonna be all over this one though.
That’s an easy $60-$80 figure
A dark orange wash might have made it look even better
One of my friends has done that, and then adding the panel lining. I'll see if I can post a link here when it's ready
Can u pls show us the part where you actually open the box instead of just editing it out :(
I have this figure but how do I do the black lines with the acrylic paint with water method?
I did the same thing with the paint on my scorpion figure looks so much better
This was really good
Awesome review thank you.
Good review
Damnnnmm, he is beauty one 😀. Gotta get one of this!
Hey Xcorpeo, in your opinion who's the better figure?
Shocker or She Hulk???
Shocker only coz I've got a soft spot for retro designs
Fantastic video...Who is better figure ??Marvel legends Shocker or marvel legnds red scull ???
Red Skull, but only if u don't have him already
@@xcorpeo Yhanks a lot ...You are a great collector...
Does the mark ink stay permanently??
Do the two different shades of yellow plastic stick out less in person, if you don't mind me asking?
Yup, less in person. Cameras sometimes amplify the subtle differences
I bet they’ll rerelease this with painted lines lol
Those Gundman markers suck, break super easily.
Is it released yet?
Is anyone else hearing that the Gundam marker lines being drawn in go weird over time? Something about the plastic 'absorbing' the pen ink?
The line fades a little on his torso area. But it doesn't degrade the plastic, it that's what you're asking
@@xcorpeo Interesting, the people I'd seen talking about it seemed to imply the plastic was absorbing the ink and it 'spread' or something. Thanks for the reply!
@@TheNightBadger no problem. The phenomenon that you described happens with sharpie markers. It degrades the plastic, and even comes off as a sticky black residue after some time, so NEVER use sharpies on action figures
@@xcorpeo Would that not also apply to a Gundam marker? I think that's what the people had used...
@@TheNightBadger sharpie is alcohol based (bad); gundam markers are oil based
You mean to tell me Hasbro couldn’t paint those lines in….that didn’t cost you anything because I’m sure you just had the marker in a draw somewhere….
❤
A Great Looking fig!
What SUCKS is that Manly SHE-HULK, SMH.. An that we have to go on Ebay & buy A Full bust _"Twin Torpedo"_ 3rd party upper torso to make her look like the (Greg Horn) feminine She Hulk cover-girl, we all know & Love.
What colour did you use on the lines on the costume?
I used Grey. I've seen Shocker with black and brown lines too in the comics. All 3 colors are available on the Gundam marker range. So just pick the color you like best
@@xcorpeo thank you brother
Like cheeese...
