Coach Sheldon Keefe has this new look NJ Devils team firing on all cylinders.
General Manager Tom Fitzgerald's offseason additions are already paying dividends.

First period was amazing. The second was pretty good too. Then we get to the 3rd and the lack of forechecking, puck possession and not playing in the offensive zone much was a little nerve racking. If they can play like the 1st all season, the sky is the limit. Markstrom was amazing! Dillon is going to be huge this season. I call the Dougie/Dillon pairing Double D’s. They are our Blue Line Bombers.
A crazy thing happened after the game when I was outside the O2 having a smoke. Someone commented on my CCM Stevens jersey and it happened to be one of your viewers/friends. Small world.
We ended up taking a Bolt(Euro Uber) back to the Hilton and having a good conversation.
Pleasure to meet you Matt, hopefully we can meet up again in NJ when I come up for Devils games.

LOVED IT!, Markstrom was sooooo good, and oh my god when markstrom did the save , i literally groaned cause i thought buffalo had scored, But then i was like, Wait What The Heck! , , and Also loved watching Hughes just absolutely harass the D men like a fly When ya trying to eat a cheesecake on a hot day, and thought Hischier deserved a flower or two for his Performance in the game too , Also flowers for Dillon and Kovacevic too, and for Casey for going out there and Putting on a good performance while on the Big stage.

This is what confidence feels like. Marky playing like i thought he would. Heavier, Edgier, more Violent turning out to be just straight up better. There are flashes of even better things to come, too. Goal is now just to keep it consistent. THIS is what a successful playoff team looks like. Enjoy the ride, looks like a fun season.

Like you said, “turning point,” finally. This win was great and Ruff…er rough for the Sabres. This was the Markstrom that you, myself, and those of who were excited about his signing us knew he could be. This was the Markstrom we were hoping for. Let’s keep the momentum up! Also, finally I feel like we have filled in the missing Madden/Clarkson types that we’ve been hurting for. And finally I feel confident in our future prospects. It might only be the first game, but bodes well for the season as we know we have the skill to do this. LET’S GO DEVILS!!!!!!
@ED-op7wk I REALLY hope this is the season that gets us out of the darkness once and for all. Markstrom delivering a performance just how we dreamed it up! If he plays at anywhere near this level for the bulk of the season, this team is going to have an amazing year. Fitz brought in those old school character guys. Know your role, and play it well. it was such a nice feeling to watch the devils and not get scored on first and let in a million muffins, and to see a game that the devils dominated without jack putting up a 4 pt night. it shows the night and day difference in the depth of this team. although i do want to see jack have a big game today in game 2, and the depth chart gets even better when you realize that this team is without 2 of the teams 3 best dmen. when luke and pesce come back the rest of the nhl better look out because its going to be very hard to score on the devils. for me this season as a whole still depends on whether or not this team stays healthy. but omg the small taste weve gotten so far does give me such an incredible feeling that i havent felt in a very long time.

Love your enthusiasm, but it was one game. I need to see this play and better continuing all the way into December and beyond, and THEN I'll start to get excited. As it is, they let up waaaay too many Shot Attempts (over 50!!). Their passes also looked a little unclean, and their defensive positioning could have been a little better. But they should definitely improve, especially when Pesce comes back on D, and Luke starts carving up the ice from his own end. Until then though, keep pumping up the fans. You are always a breath of fresh air.
@MrZeek1519 I said in the video it was only one game and I'm not getting carried away. But I am excited about the vision for this team, and they executed beautifully. The talent is in place. They looked great ... and that was without Pesce and Luke, and without any points by Jack, Bratt, or Meier. It feels like we're seriously loaded. And GREAT to see Dougie back out there. I almost forgot what a huge difference he makes.

@johnsilva5335 I would definitely suggest getting a jersey of a guy that you're a fan of. I was trying to get a gauge of when you became a fan, because I always default to some old school legends. For you, I would suggest Hischier, Meier, Bratt or Jack Hughes. All very important players on this team, and all should be here for quite awhile! LET'S GO DEVILS!!!

They gotta play better in game 2 had a strong first period but it was buffalo in the 2nd and 3rd and they missed a lot of good chances.

@jamess.9164 Yes and No. I always said I thought he was going to be a great player in the league SOMEDAY. The team was definitely planning on sending him to Utica. I thought that was a sensible plan given the defensive depth we have. He is definitely ready to play NOW. The question is, does he come out when Pesce and Luke are healthy? What about Kovacevic?!? Some realllllllllly difficult decisions for the coaching staff to make. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Pretty obvious Seiganthaler Sita or is traded. Next guy for you to keep an eye on is Mikael Diotte. Next year he makes the team or is part of a trade package in the near future. By the way, most hockey scouts felt he could play thus year.
@walterramirez4443 That seems the most logical for sure, and what I have predicted in previous videos. However, he has been pretty solid thus far. But he does make a decent chunk of change. If we deal him it would open a spot for Casey AND give us some cap relief. I guess we have to root for some injuries to defenseman on other teams that would be looking to trade for one. the keyword for me today was STRUCTURE. I had forgotten what it was like to watch a Devils team play with structure, with a real system, with everyone knowing their job and actually trying to control the puck instead of spamming rushes 24/7. It's kind of a happy accident imo that they got to play Ruffs new team in this, cause you could see the difference on the ice. I don't want to jinx anything, and its a looooong season, but at least for today, both Keefe and Fitz look like geniuses.
@Chicotazo69 I think Keefe is going to bring a very disciplined brand of hockey to this team. He seems to have a bit of a drill sergeant in him for sure. I do agree. The Fitzgerald/Keefe plan unfolded today EXACTLY as planned. Here's to 81 more strong efforts. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
