to me the worst “question” i ever got when someone was trying to tell me gender equality isn’t real was “would you rather a man or a woman be piloting a war plane” like??? NEITHER??? WHY ARE WE PILOTING WAR PLANES?????
I can't 🤣 So in absolute emergency - I think that was what they were trying to say - they would rather: 1) not ask who is more qualified to drive? 2) not use any help available if one isn't as qualified? 3) not consider using a different body part than genitalia to pilot? Interesting take.
@@dandelion_16 One hilarious thing about history: Men have oppressed women, but they sometimes made exceptions for the most talented ones who were obviously better than anyone else. However, they let completely average men do things freely. so our history always ends up looking like a swarm of mediocre, ordinary men next to a small group of smart, cable badass women.

It wasn't that long ago that women wearing pants in public, formal situations was scandalous and even forbidden, as in, your employer could require you to wear a skirt or a dress. That has changed; most people, I think, look on pants as a gender-neutral garment. I think in a few more decades, skirts and dresses also will be regarded as unisex clothes. (And personally, I think women in suits look better than most men in suits, but that's just my taste.)
Yep. They also _pay zero attention to the man_ who ejaculated irresponsibly. What about _his_ responsibility? Last I checked, it takes 2 to cause a pregnancy… Which brings up a very good point made in the book, "Ejaculate Responsibly": men are the cause of all abortions. Last I checked, lesbian sex had never once resulted in a pregnancy. So without men, no pregnancies. No pregnancies? No abortions. OTOH, if men ejaculated responsibly, there would _also_ be no unintended pregnancies.
@@John_Weiss It's because then they have to admit that they're at fault too, and they can't have that. So they act like it's the virgin mary everywhere someone wants an abortion. @@John_Weiss in the city I live in (and also in many cities in the US) they focused on only planting male trees because they didn’t want fruit falling all over the ground and on cars. But the male trees spew pollen all over causing horrible allergies. If they had only planted female trees we wouldn’t be suffering from the horrible allergies and if there’s no pollen, there wouldn’t be any fruit to worry about.
@@yourmom2189 I'm confused, but curious. What kind of trees are being planted in your area that are gendered? I know trees like that exist, but last I learned in my AP Biology class, they're very rare, and many species have already gone extinct. Just like a majority of plants, the flourishing trees we have these days have both male and female parts, and can even self-pollinate. That's what it's like with the White and Live Oak Trees I've raised. They, of course, don't drop fruit, but acorns. And many trees in my area also bloom, spew pollen, drop seed pods, and some walnut trees even line our streets. But all of the trees do that, there aren't male and female trees, separately. There's pollen season, and then fruiting/seed season. I'm curious to know what trees you have in your area, because I'd love to learn if they're native to the US, and more about them in general. I live in the United States btw, if you haven't caught my drift yet. (There's a chance I'm very uneducated on this and my School System's to blame. Feel free to learn me a new thing about how common gendered trees are)
The choice they're referring to is choosing to engage in any sexual conduct, putting all the onus on women, including cases of rape or incest where people commonly blame the victim for acting or dressing certain way that she was just "asking for it" instead of men taking responsibility for their own actions.
This is so frustrating. Any conversation on reproductive health and they'll yell things like "keep your legs closed if you're not ready to be a mother". It deliberately paints a picture of us as wantonly going from partner to partner, and ignores, as you said, rape and incest.

For a while in the 1950s you could indeed buy a house on one good, union wage with some government help for ex-servicemen. Not everybody by any means (the help for ex-servicemen mysteriously only covered white ex-servicemen, and not everyone had a skilled job, obviously) but a far bigger percentage of people than now. There is some truth in the rosy nostalgia. But none of the good stuff from the 1950s was due to sexism, racism, homophobia etc. It was down to strong unions and plenty of government investment, paid for partly by a 90% top tax rate. That's probably not true. Basically someone claimed this on Twitter with an article in Romanian as their "source". So everyone, including a bunch of news sites, started repeating it as fact. But the original Romanian article just said the police had looked at his social media to confirm he was in Romania - he'd already posted several videos before the pizza one that made it clear he was in Romania. He was arrested at his home (which the Romanian police had previously searched) so once they were certain he was in Romania they already knew where to find him.
This was just a rumor. The Romanian authorities were already building a case against him and already knew where he was prior to that video. However, I will agree that this version of the story is much funnier. Also, it's better to compost pizza boxes and other cardboard food containers, as they can't be recycled due to the grease.

5:33 I don't know how it is in your country, but here in the U.S., this "choose to take responsibility for your poor choices" that gets slung at Pro-Choice people is intended as a way to say, "I don't care what your circumstances are or what resources you have available, YOU got yourself knocked up which is obviously YOUR fault, and therefore you MUST squeeze out that baby NO MATTER WHAT and I don't care if you die doing it." That's what it means over here. It's their cover for thinking they can get away with pushing their sanctimonious, arrogant, theocratic bullsh*t on EVERYONE and forcing THEIR ways onto EVERYONE. They were saying that getting pregnant is a poor choice and "taking responsibility" in their eyes would be caring the child to term. Which treats parent hood and children as a punishment but if you tell them that they'll spew some abhorrent mess about how having children is a miracle. It's all very "I want to control other people because my world view is the only one that happens to matter".
The thing is that THEY don't know what they are trying to say either. They just want to shout about how unfair their lives are and blame it on 'wokeness' because its the catchphrase of the day and they are miserable and don't want to have to take ownership of their own misery.

11:35 - This actually is a real problem, even though the criticism (that it's the environmental advocates doing it) is inaccurate. When renewable energy is profitable, companies will happily destroy ecosystems in order to build wind and solar farms. It is actually a major issue in my hometown right now; a company wants to cut down a swath of forest in order to put in a new solar farm. The environmental advocacy groups are trying to change the location to any number of various abandoned lots that already have highly damaged ecosystems, rather than destroying healthy forest. The roles are exactly the opposite of what this cartoon is criticizing, of course- it's the profit-seeking companies who are the ones who don't really care about the environmental impact of their energy farms, and the environmentally-minded citizens are the ones trying to minimize the damage and find a way to implement renewable energy responsibly.

actually the funniest thing about the "male/female plugs" argument is that they specifically make male/male and female/female adapters so that you CAN connect plugs/etc of the same kind, so making their argument invalid in every possible way 😂
one of my favorite 'therightcantmeme' images is the one that goes 'if you ring the devil's doorbell enough times (female naughty fun times) he'll answer' and i'm kinda upset that he hasn't answered yet honestly lol
7:17 What irks me so much about the "You wouldn't want to be a man anymore if you were getting drafted" argument is that WE CAN'T ANYWAY! In the US, trans men are excluded from the draft. We have to send a form informing the US government that we were assigned female at birth and cannot be drafted if we want to apply for federal loans and grants.
Wow. I transitioned 23 years ago, and y'all younguns are living in a world I never even thought of. Good for you for knowing stuff. Don't forget to ask the dingbats if they/their husbands are sorry they are male because something scary might happen to them. Act as though volunteering is a valid "manly" choice and you can't understand why they are so "afraid". Always make it about them; they will talk about themselves for hours and shut up about you. Cheers.
13:00 Similar to how in computers, connections were called "slaves" and "masters". It's really old fashioned, not appropriate anymore, and an effort is being made to change it. Hope we can do the same with male/female connectors, because that's just icky ngl.
I'm sure I heard that having a gay sibling made the straight siblings have better reproductive success, so making them evolutionary fitter. And being siblings they have similar genetics
@Beans …or, that matter, care for your grandchildren without producing other descendants that would compete for resources and weaken everyone's survival chances. I call it "2nd Order genetic preservation."
Using "male" and "female" plugs as an argument for homophobia and/or transphobia is particularly ironic, since lots of plugs are different "sex" in each end (almost all high power cables are, for safety reasons); and it's trivial to change "sex" of a plug; you can even buy (at least for low power applications) devices to change the gender of a plug. And there are plenty of plugs and connectors that are made such that they the plug can connect directly to a plug of the same kind.
9:19 actually trans women do not really get prostate cancer because of the lack of testosterone (also, a lot of antiandrogens are typically used to treat prostate cancer)
That snow one is funny because we got a lot of snow yesterday (about a foot) and when we got to work the next morning four of us went out to shove the sidewalks for customers. Two guys (one of them our manager and the other one the oldest of us at almost 60) AND two girls (me being one of the girls) while three other guys (in their 20-30's) stayed inside and got customers. We work in sales with 100% commission so if not helping customers and selling you're not making money. So those of us shoving for that first hour and a half were working for free. And also made it easier for the others to sell. And I'm someone that's always out there shoveling because it needs to be done. Last year I spent three hours out shoveling till the GM told me I had been out there long enough and to send one of the guys out.
My work is weird. There is physical labor and Im allowed to do it as a "woman", but only to a certain extent. Like they only want men to do the one job. And when I'm like, no I'm good, I got this, and then clearly do the job no problem, they're like oh no let me help you do that, you must be struggling. And I'm like, no, I'm fine thanks. I have no problem doing the more physically intensive aspects but they have a problem seeing me do them or something. No idea why. Also I'm non-binary but am still seen as a woman. It's frustrating sometimes. So yeh equality would be great and I would love to be given the opportunity to do the same things. Will I be good at them? Who knows unless I'm given the chance to try
7:30 people always assume that only 'real men' can like 'manly' work. That the moment a transman has to do any sort of physical work, we're immediately gonna go 'yeah, but I'm a girl, I can't do that!' & I'm here all sad that our car broke down & I can't help my dad with the yard work anymore cause we cant transport all the grass & greenery away. These people have never met a single transman cause so many of us DO enjoy 'manly' work, even back when we thought we were still girls/women
"That is a lot of snow" yeah we got 2 feet of snow at the very start of January and there was nowhere to put it all so we all still have giant piles of snow on the side of all our roads
These days it's pretty common to call "male" connectors "plugs" and "female" ones "receptacles". Though we also call connectors that are identical and can mate with each other "hermaphroditic", so...that's not great.
Just remember, everyone. It was the right, including Tucker Carlson, who got upset that M&Ms removed the go go boots from the green M&M. They felt she was 'not sexy enough' and the company was 'being woke' by doing something that they openly stated they didn't think people would really notice or care about.
Lol. It’s also the right who replies two hundred times to inform us that they’re “burning the lgbt flag”. Can’t we just let our m&m’s wear any shoes they want to save ourselves some time and energy?
Watching this while applying my e gel to really stick it to the conservatives! That bit about 'only wanting the good parts' not being true is such a good point. Like I want everything that comes with being a woman and that includes the 'not good' parts.
to me the worst “question” i ever got when someone was trying to tell me gender equality isn’t real was “would you rather a man or a woman be piloting a war plane” like??? NEITHER??? WHY ARE WE PILOTING WAR PLANES?????
I can't 🤣
So in absolute emergency - I think that was what they were trying to say - they would rather:
1) not ask who is more qualified to drive?
2) not use any help available if one isn't as qualified?
3) not consider using a different body part than genitalia to pilot?
Interesting take.
Do they not realize that there have been women fighter pilots? In WW2 the Russians had an all-female squadron.

Also with swords.
As a fellow bi man, so true!
Absolutly I agree. Though as a bi woman I think that most of them are looking better with their clothes off.
"Take responsibility for your poor choices"
"Yeah, that's why I'm getting an abortion"
I "love" that they clearly consider an unwanted pregnancy the woman's choice. If it was a choice, it wouldn't be unwanted.
Yep.
They also _pay zero attention to the man_ who ejaculated irresponsibly. What about _his_ responsibility? Last I checked, it takes 2 to cause a pregnancy…
Which brings up a very good point made in the book, "Ejaculate Responsibly": men are the cause of all abortions.
That or "Oh he wants the baby but she doesn't so she's taking that away from him" when you know that the dad isn't going to take responsibility or custody, and he's definitely not the one having to put up with hell for 9 months.
Feel free to learn me a new thing about how common gendered trees are)
The choice they're referring to is choosing to engage in any sexual conduct, putting all the onus on women, including cases of rape or incest where people commonly blame the victim for acting or dressing certain way that she was just "asking for it" instead of men taking responsibility for their own actions.
don't you know, that when you get into a car you are basically consenting to be T-boned by a truck?

You know, the stuff that's fought against bitterly by the parties that push 1950s nostalgia.
Meanwhile, Scandanavia managed to have social equality and prosperity without any bigotry. They did it with good wages and plenty of government investment, paid for partly by a high top tax rate and a wealth tax.

Greta really pulled a Wednesday Addams on him. 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm a theatre teacher, and the other day I showed my students how to set up a microphone. Instead of calling the connectors "male and female," I called them "innie and outie." It made perfect sense to my students without feeding into the heteronormativity or cisnormativity.
…and without implying a sex act.
Funny how the conservatives forget all about that when they're pushing their laws to ban any mention of LGBT people in schools because it would somehow be taking about sex? Hey talking about, "putting the male into the female," isn't?!?!?

@@moontravellerjul "active and passive"?
Hey, that's what I call them too! "Male" and "female" make me feel like I'm doing something gross to the object.
I wouldn't call it cisnormativity tho. "Male" doesn't refer to gender, it's more about sex (?). Besides it gets more complicated when some of the "male" connectors are dished thus making any real-life comparisons ridiculous. I really don't want to imagine a dished p"nis
In the end to make a real change would require wide spread adoption of the new naming system. Otherwise it will be difficult for your student to buy connectors
Idk, if Linux was able to get rid of Master and Slave terminology maybe it's possible to adopt new naming system

A cis gay man and a cis gay woman can definitely have a baby together, if they choose. Sometimes it even happens because they feel societal or religious pressure to marry and reproduce.
Yes, and many cultures historically recognized same-sex attraction/partnership while viewing that as separate from the family duty to produce heirs for the clan. Marriage has often been more about business and creating ties between clans than romance.
Even if a gay man is unable to inseminate a lesbian the traditional way, you can buy a turkey baster at any grocery store.

5:33 I don't know how it is in your country, but here in the U.S., this "choose to take responsibility for your poor choices" that gets slung at Pro-Choice people is intended as a way to say, "I don't care what your circumstances are or what resources you have available, YOU got yourself knocked up which is obviously YOUR fault, and therefore you MUST squeeze out that baby NO MATTER WHAT and I don't care if you die doing it."
That's what it means over here. It's their cover for thinking they can get away with pushing their sanctimonious, arrogant, theocratic bullsh*t on EVERYONE and forcing THEIR ways onto EVERYONE.
It's about power and control. The people who try to use this "responsibility for your poor choices" argument here in the U.S. get off on the idea of forcing their cherry-picked fairytale of choice down everyone's throat.
You'll also note that these same people conveniently forget that it takes TWO people to create a pregnancy, and they also conveniently NEVER hold ANY man responsible for the baby he's helped create in these pro-forced-birth insults/arguments. They're out to control and punish women for DARING to refuse to live their entire lives around servitude to some husband and being treated as property. You know who else isn't allowed to have reproductive choices? LIVESTOCK.
They're hypocrites and authoritarian theocrats, and they're scum.

And lots of people seeking abortions already have children. (And spouses). But our society’s lack of support for parents makes it impossible for them to grow their families and take care of the children they already have.
These same politicians refuse to make things like healthcare and child care affordable…which would make parents able to afford larger families.

The roles are exactly the opposite of what this cartoon is criticizing, of course- it's the profit-seeking companies who are the ones who don't really care about the environmental impact of their energy farms, and the environmentally-minded citizens are the ones trying to minimize the damage and find a way to implement renewable energy responsibly.

actually the funniest thing about the "male/female plugs" argument is that they specifically make male/male and female/female adapters so that you CAN connect plugs/etc of the same kind, so making their argument invalid in every possible way 😂
Just wait until they hear about crossover adapters!

one of my favorite 'therightcantmeme' images is the one that goes 'if you ring the devil's doorbell enough times (female naughty fun times) he'll answer' and i'm kinda upset that he hasn't answered yet honestly lol
1:25 This really cracked me up as well. This joke died during the latter half of the 20th Century and let’s leave it buried there.
Cheers.
My parents did try really hard to teach me to be a manly man… like really, really hard. Didn’t work.

@@Igbt_needs_to_stop cool storie bro. Anyways.
3:02 it’s right up there with “Nuke the gay baby whales for Jesus.”
I think 5:34 is saying that being pregnant is a choice and abortion is essentially a "cop out"
13:00 Similar to how in computers, connections were called "slaves" and "masters".

I've always said that the role of gay uncles and lesbian aunts is to support their siblings with the kids.
It's always been our role, actually.

9:19 actually trans women do not really get prostate cancer because of the lack of testosterone
(also, a lot of antiandrogens are typically used to treat prostate cancer)
@Ville Yeah, that's about the level of scientific research and argumentation I expect from transphobes.

NOT UA-cam GIVING ME A HOGWARTS LEGACY AD ON THIS VIDEO ARE YOU KIDDING ME
"That is a lot of snow" yeah we got 2 feet of snow at the very start of January and there was nowhere to put it all so we all still have giant piles of snow on the side of all our roads
These days it's pretty common to call "male" connectors "plugs" and "female" ones "receptacles". Though we also call connectors that are identical and can mate with each other "hermaphroditic", so...that's not great.
i literally have a picture of my 86 year old granddad using the same dog snapchat filter...
