My uncle Bob (Cram) was Colchester captain that day. Emigrated to Canada soon after that season and sadly passed away in 2007 just after I visited him. Remember watching Grandstand that Saturday and the score kept filtering in - incredible! Thanks for posting.
As a 9 year old watching this I had no idea who Ray Crawford was, only later found out he was a legendary goal scorer then aged 35 at the tail end of his career.
11 times runners up between 65-75 including the infamous 73 ECWC final and were denied a clear penalty at 0-0 in 75ECF as well as having a goal disallowed.. Tiredness probably cost Leeds 4-5 trophies as not other English team in my lifetime kept basically the same side for 10 years. Even the great Liverpool team from say 76-84 had a complete overhaul with only Neal there from start to finish....
Leeds even had the F.a and the refs against Them in the 70's. They would have won the double for Sure in 1972 if They weren't forced to play Their Final League Game at WolvesTwo Days after Beating Arsenal in The Cup Final.

Great to see Ray Crawford doing the FA Cup draw this afternoon. I was there that day (aged 11). Best football match I'd ever been to.
My Grandfather BIll Graver was chairman of Colchester at the time

the greatest cup upset ever, people dont relise, how good leeds were, at the time
When the FA meant something. And tip sides fielded there strongest sides
The cross for the 3rd Colchester goal looked over the line..
I was there but until today I hadnt realised that Hunter and Giles scored for Leeds - must have blocked that out in the excitement
'Ol careless hands, on fine form againt Colchester xD
I was there at the end where the first two goals were scored, the boy with the Long scarfe was Mark Dodson and I stood next to him aged 13.
remember listening to this on radio 7 years old and crying as i thought leeds couldnt be beat ever 🤣
My dad went to this game.
The pitch looked in decent condition for the 1970s
This was the day that the Leeds machine went wrong.
Not so Super Leeds that day
+Sameoldfitup Tameside No but they were for much of the period from 65-75
League x 2, FA Cup x1, Fairs Cup x2, League Cup x1, and many times runners up, maybe they should have won another 2 or 3 trophies

That clown in goal for Leeds was at fault for all 3.
