Same with Steven Wilson, I've had some of his songs for a few years too but never delved in further to him either! Until now! I guess there comes a time for everything!

I’ve been a big fan of Porcupine Tree for years but only just got round to the Lighthouse Sun album as I think I was saving some albums for myself to spread the PT joy over my life, and this particular song came along at just the right time ❤️
Great stuff. Like a previous commentator , how the hell have I only become aware of these musicians at the grand old age of 61 ? Oh well, at least I can / am feverishly enjoy working my way through their back catalogue.
A masterpiece by Porcupine Tree. This is MUSIC. It's one of the less famous plucking and for me one of the best I've ever listened to. It's a shame that bands like this one have no place in the radio and the worst "music" in the world (for me, and talking about reaggeton) has all the coverage. Except in radios like Rock Fm and few more. I hope, I wish, they come back some day.
The Lightbulb Sun album released in 2000, the Deadwing in 2005. This is the original version. The Deadwing version is made with the singer of Opeth, and released on the american version of the album.

This version has just an OK drum fill before the guitar solo. The other version has a KILLER drum fill before the solo. And everyone knows that OK just will not do in this music. That is all.
This song captures the craziness, isolation, anger and frustation that takes place after being rejected and left behind

I agree with you about Gavin but he’s not playing on this track, it’s the original drummer Chris Maitland.
