Castle was a 5* PG recruit going into college, he switched positions to help the system in college. He’s an underrated playmaker, if he was on another team playing pg his stats would be way up but he was on a championship team with some really good players
We’ve seen drafting over your young player with someone of similar skill backfire a lot. Biggest example is the kings taking 3 pgs in a row when they already had a good player there wasting the franchises picks and time along with causing positional problems with players playing positions they weren’t good at
I agree with most of what you've said so far in this video, but taking Kel'el Ware anywhere above pick 15 is honestly the worst decision because you are risking his development if he can't get his act together, plus you're risking your draft pick when Edey, Bona and Holmes are available later in the draft. I've had a mock trade that the Grizzlies can do(if the money works) where the raptors get pick 9, Clarke and Kennard and the grizzlies get Poeltl and Brown. so i really do not like the fact of any team taking Ware higher than 15-20 at most
6:11 time stamp - Deandre Ayton has a piss poor "motor" and very little love for the game itself. What DC becomes with this pick.....is someone who KICKS Ayton's butt in practice and plays HUNGRY when he does get in the game. Worst case? He becomes the starting C and Aytons slides down to PF.
I'd be fine with Castle and Salaun to the Spurs but if they get some minutes early in the season it's gonna be another year of tanking. They both need a lot of work 😅
Could be, but I don't see them going C with Sengun and Adams. If they are drafting Clingan as a backup and depth, then they will end up with a monster frontline and weak on future playmaking/shooting. I just don't see them doing that with a #3 pick when they can get insane shooting that plays D and depth at PG/SG with Reed. FVV's max contract is coming off the books and they will be facing resigning Sengun and/or Green. If they only resign Sengun, then they can move Cam fulltime to SG and back him up with Reed as he also splits time playing PG...After FVV is gone, the Rockets' playmakers are only Thompson and Sengun and Reed would give them a fantastic 3rd option. This draft is going to be exciting for the Rockets.
@@bigpain76 Yeah, I see that and I will not be crying if they draft Clingan...that's not true I will be crying...lol. Look, Reed is a super special shooter that plays D and can play PG. Those type of players don't come along very often and if you pass on 40 to 50+ shooting from the outside as a GM then you need your head examined. The more of these type shooters +D you can put on the perimeter the more you will contend for rings. We have one such player in Smith who was a 42% on 3s in college. NBA numbers have been rising 30%...36% and I think he will be a very good 3-pt shooter, but the Rockets lack great shooting. Reed will provide this day one. As far as Clingan, He should be a great player, but history shows that either tall and skinny or over 7' 2" big man are not durable in the NBA. It is hard to name one that had a full career and Stone has talked about this before the 2021 and 2022 drafts. Saying, You must get durability along with quality out of these top picks. I totally agree with this after watching Ralph Sampson and Yao Ming set the Rockets back a dozen years each due to career ending injury. I don't think he would draft Clingan. We will see soon enough and I am excited for this draft and I hope we get a repeat opportunity in 2025. BTW, Sengun is a very special center and the Rockets know this and are committed to him...Clingan needs to be a starter not a backup. Do you not like Sengun?
I did the ESPN Draft Simulator and MAN did I get lucky. I traded picks 14 & 34 to Spurs for #4 and got: 4 - Donovan Clingan 7 - Dalton Knecht 40 - Adem Bona What a dream
who should have played at "Akron" or "Wisconsin-Milwaukee". He is a Horizon League or Mid-American Conference guy. Was terrible for the worst team in the Pac 12. Didn't affect winning at all.
It’s called clearing cap space this team aren’t going anywhere any time soon so they trade vets and take prospects and hope they can do what the C’s did
Castle is not just saying that he wants to be a point guard just because. That’s the position he had played his whole life outside of one year at UConn. I do like castle at the two though.
@@greglyon1402Coach and Player's decision. Just like Wemby wanted to play the 4. But his true upside came when he moved to the 5. Pop made the decision, But Wemby had to buy in. And Wemby bought in. Same situation with Castle, He is a PG! but because The situation is different at UConn then he bought into a winning culture. He did what it took to win. He is a True PG College is different than the NBA. The NBA is a Man's future
I think with Castle he did sacrificed for Uconn in them winning the title but my feeling why he is saying this is he want to play for the Spurs to play alongside Wemby. This is just a way to make sure picks 5, 6 and 7 past on Castle and doubt a team will pick him in the top 3. This is the Wemby effect. These college players been watching what Wemby been doign as a rookie and its very hard for them to be excited to be drafted to any other team not named the Spurs.
Another Castle to SAS mock draft. I would be very surprised if PATFO would pick him at #4. How many non shooting players does SAS need? If that is the case, I, as a SAS fan would want PATFO pick Clingan, if Sarr, Risacher and Sheppard are not around. It would be a huge problem for some NBA teams to attack the rim with Clingan, Wemby and Sochan in the front court. SAS would allow Clingan to bang bodies with the bigs and Wemby patrol and play off ball. That would be better defensively.
I personally think Topic will be the best player out of this draft. I don't see him falling past the Spurs at 4. I can see the Spurs trading up for Risacher who will probably be the second best player. Sarr is probably the third best. After that it is a crap shoot. Teams will look to fill needs. I really see the Rockets trading back if a good offer comes in. I think Edey is undervalued in this draft. He dominated Clingan in the NCAA finals.
- Positions 1 & 3 + versatile - Good defender (both) - at least 1 can shoot - Can play in a system, no ball dominance - Plan A : (4) Risacher (8) Castle - Plan B : (4) Sheppard (8) Holland

Legit 6'6" Point. Spurs would be smart to get him. Defender. Size. Will defer to Wemby.
ESPN mock sucks - they fired any body who knows any thing about sports
Thank you for posting amazing content
Great content 🙏👍
The French Connection for the Spurs.
Zacharrie Risacher and Tidjane Salaun!
Really enjoy the breakdown and would love to hear this in a pub over a pint!
Always take the best player available. We've seen this lesson time and time again.

Trouble is no one knows who the best player available is. You should take a player you think you have a good shot at developing.
I agree with most of what you've said so far in this video, but taking Kel'el Ware anywhere above pick 15 is honestly the worst decision because you are risking his development if he can't get his act together, plus you're risking your draft pick when Edey, Bona and Holmes are available later in the draft. The Nets' fan wish and cry to get those picks back...don't count on these rumors.
a leeds fan who makes nba content , i didnt know i could find such a similar person to myself lol

That thumbnail is real Bizarro world mock draft.
why is it you said nothing about the raptors but something about every other team
I'd be fine with Castle and Salaun to the Spurs but if they get some minutes early in the season it's gonna be another year of tanking. They both need a lot of work 😅
Kel'el Ware at 21 to the Pels BETTER be the pick, otherwise Coach Green job security should be in question!!!
Houston Rockets are going to keep the pick, and it will be Donovan Clingan

@delphes5984 yeah, the trade option is really broken with that thing
Sarrr potential + . Spurs will select Topic and Knecht unless Pistons .or d snap him up !!

As a blazers fan, the clingan thing could be a smoke screen, so. Ya why would we trade up for one, and for clingan. Gotta be smoke screen
Blazers receive: Pick #4 and Keldon Johnson
Spurs Receive: picks #7 & #14
What do the blazers say?
