Love, gurren lagaan. I've always wanted this one for sure, but my favorite that I own has the be the revoltech. It's just a fun figure, and for the age, it's got so much and holds up so well.
That's what I started with, and I still love playing with all the ones from that line. Revoltech also is still the only company to do every form for Gurren Lagann as well.
Gurren Lagann is one of my all-time favorite anime. Was super-torn between the GX-107 and the Sentinel Riobot combiner but the massive Giga Drill and the insane quality of my GX-48K (Big O Iron Kurogane) pushed me to go with the Soul of Chogokin. Enjoying your reviews and looking forward to your comparison of the two!
I had to get both myself, but given I loved the Super Robot Chogokin from back in the day and own GX-72 (Dino Megazord) AND always wanted a proper giga drill; there was no way in hell I wasn't getting this regardless. Minus the giant giga drill, thee Riobot and the SoC are very, very close in quality.
@@RallenRiko That proper Giga Drill goes real hard. It was ultimately between the proper Giga Drill and the Spiral Power green drills in the Riobot, and the Giga Drill won out. I might still end up with the Riobot for those at some point, though.
Question, since you have both, are the "Fully Drillized" drills interchangeable between the GX-107 and Riobot? As in, you could post the GX-107 with it's Giga Drill AND badass green drills everywhere?
@@ADeckOfZero That is a very good question. I don't know if I can find out tonight, but I will try and figure that out!
@@ADeckOfZero So I tried it, the green drills don't fit securely enough to make it possible.

it's just sad that the sentinel is now more expensive that the soul of chogokin because it's been discontinued. I'll probably go for the chogokin since amiami sells them around 200+ cad. Also, I am waiting for the ccs toys gurren lagann 2.0 and flametoys tengen toppa gurren lagann.
@@notadoctorshhh-ne8hi From what I'm seeing, the Sentinel is still more or less around the price it was new. Which sucks, but isn't super over the top like if it was double the price. Both are very solid though. I almost don't believe that CCS 2.0 is real since it's been a "thing" for years now. I'm super excited about the Flame Toys stuff too, for sure.
@@RallenRiko I might not be looking hard enough but I was checking for it and I minimum I can find for sentinel is upwards of 500 cad lol there's one on buyee but it's marked as junk. Hmm, toy websites like gundamit and showzstore are taking pre-orders for the ccs gurren lagann 2.0, and I've seen rumors on reddit that it *might* be next after ccs dancouga. Well, fingers crossed.
@@RallenRiko oh you are right! I've checked and there are still brand new around the same price. The greenish drillized mode of riobot is so cool but I am leaning towards the gx-107 for that show accuracy and especially the giga drill. I just wish that the giga drill can also be posed horizontally with a different adapter lol. As for the 2.0 there are a couple of online shops that accept pre-orders for it and I've seen discussions on reddit that it's supposed to be next in line after the dancouga release.
@@notadoctorshhh-ne8hi If you're creative/smart enough, I'm sure there is a way to display the giga drill horizontally. I just haven't managed to do it 😂 but I think it could be done. I do like how show accurate the SoC is as well, it just feels right. I think the biggest thing on the new CCS would be better ankles cuz I know that was like the one annoying thing.
@@RallenRiko If the giga drill is light, maybe some 3d printed stands/riser/adapters could work, or maybe we could ghetto it with clear invisible nylon strings 😆 . I do hope that for 2.0 they would implement a combining mode and also fix the common 1.0 issues on the right arm, wrist and ankles.

so disappointed with this figure.. even the drill gimmick looks way too cheap.. ccs is the best and even the riobot is better than this..
@@willtan2787 I think this one is the most accurate version of Gurren Lagann we have. I do wish the Drill was more functional rather than a gimmick, though. CCS is absolutely great, but it is also very stylized. I think I prefer the more accurate looks, and I think this one does edge out Riobot there. Like I've said, if the Riobot had a proper Giga Drill, I would have said it was the best. But, it doesn't. I see why you feel the way you do, but I wouldn't say the SoC is completely overshadowed.
