3:09 I like to call those eyes the "manual mode" eyes. That's mainly because there's a similar looking effect present when Akane yells at Kiryu from inside after passing out - you can see some weird white blobs in his eyes appear for a moment with the vertical lines being noticeable on them and in that shot of Mechagodzilla switched off after rising from the ocean
Thank you, Jobby My cat passed away this morning, so I'm not feeling all that fantastic, but seeing another Jobby review of one of my favourite Mecha Godzilla designs really brightens up my mood. I really needed this today, so thank you for being you.
I hope we get a Tokyo SOS version of this figure cause DAMN the darker Grey color scheme, better shading, and octagonal missile launchers look so good on the design. And as cool as the absolute Zero Cannon is the Tripler Maser Cannon looks way cooler when he opens up his chest. The SHMA Tokyo SOS Kiryu is one of my favorites of my entire collection. A Tokyo SOS version would be so easily worth that price.
@Drac0blade16 I know you're making a joke about the Joblins/Gundam Ghost, but nah man, the sculpt differences between GXMG and Tokyo SOS Kiryu is where it's at. Again, those octagonal missile launchers, the drill hand, and the triple maser cannon make Kiryu look so much cooler. Though the blue missile launcher is a nice splash of color every now and then
@victorhernandez5013 there's an old soul of chogokin, but this is a newer model which is bigger, has better articulation, and electronics, and I just would love to see that brought over to the Tokyo SOS heavy arms version
This figure does look quite good! And the size is indeed a fantastic point to it but if I’m honest. I think I still like the sh monster arts figure more. It’s a little more poseable, and the absolute zero laser cannon accessory really is a great display.
Man this thing is great. Hope some more mechs from the Godzilla franchise get the Chogokin treatment. The classic Mechagodzilla or even Moguera would be just mmmmhm. Does it justify that price? Eeeeeehhhhh it does more than the Monsterarts Minus One Godzilla. And with the little Akane being unpainted you could always paint her in the bikini that the director never managed to get her into For context the actress Yumiko Shaku was a model turned actress so the director was trying to find a way to work in a swimsuit scene. And if you've seen her work you'd understand why
Heck yeah, Jet Jaguar, Showa Mecha Godzilla, or Heisei Mecha Godzilla would be pretty sweet. I'm not personally a big fan of Mogera but that's fine too. There's even the Gotengo as a possibility.
My Wife got me this figure this passed Christmas for just barely over $200. AND I LOVE IT. This figure is absolutely fantastic in every way. HUGE Godzilla fan, have been since I was little. Watching all of the Toho films that I could. 1984/85, Godzilla VS Biolante, Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla, Godzilla 2000, Space Godzilla, Final Wars. You name it, I've seen almost all of them. Even them from the late 70's. And yes, Minus One was superb. Loved it.
Thank you Jobby, I had absolutely no idea there was a button to turn on the Absolute Zero Cannon. When I tried mine I thought the battery was just dead when I got it.
I mean they didn’t have to do much, all they have to do is reuse their SH monsterarts figure, upscale it, give it more diecast metal, and give it some more extra features and now it justifies a $350 price tag.
Hi Jobby! What a great figure, it captures 2002's Mecha Godzilla to perfection imo! I can't thank you enough for featuring my art in your videos, I feel honored each time it happens! Love you and thank you again! 🤗💜
This is now the freshest Jobby video I’ve watched. The last few I’ve caught fresh ranged from 8 hours, a full day, a few days, maybe a week but an hour? Never before have I been that lucky
Hey jobby!, been a huge fan since your gundam days!, Those vertical designs for the eyes are from the Tokyo S.O.S design after kiryu was repaired from the first movies final battle!, you are able to see them on close up shots.
I honestly wish that at the end of the movie Kiryu threw Akane into the ocean, '54 Goji coming back yet again into conciousness and walking away in another direction to find his (maybe) son, Godzilla Millenium.
"a pretty bad idea for the characters, you dummies. What did you think was gonna happen?" I was thinking the same thing when I first watched Godzilla vs Kong when legendary mechagodzilla gained sentience

This is definitely my favorite design for Mechagodzilla. Although I am partial to the very first, and ( weirdly enough ) I also really like the recent American Mechagodzilla a lot. Edit - Goji and Pumpkin! They're so cute!!
I think the vertical lines version of the eyes is to represent the Fresnel lenses you'd often see on large scale lighting systems a lot from the 70's to the 90's. Think like car taillights from that era.
I will always love me some Transformers review ls but seeing you review things you are passionate about is always amazing and you got me into Godzilla a year ago
Godzilla can mean different things to different people. And there’s so many different designs of him. His movies are separated by Japanese emperor eras. It’s really up to the viewer on what they prefer. For me, I think Gojira 1954 and Minus One 2023 are the two greatest Godzilla movies ever made. I think 2023 takes the cake as it’s basically a modern reboot of 1954. But my favorite might be MV because I find it to be more fun and even silly. I currently own two Godzilla toys. One is G89 by Art Spirits. The other is Hiya G21 V2. I was NOT a fan of MV Godzilla’s design early on but it grew on me and I now rank it 1st or 2nd for best Godzilla designs ever. While I probably rank G23 about 3rd. When I first saw Godzilla vs. Kong on my phone about 3 years ago, I didn’t watch it for the humans. I only wanted to watch Godzilla and Kong beat the living shit out of each other! It did not disappoint. I’m excited for GxK so I can watch more giant lizards and apes kick each other’s ass! 😂 So I finally came around to watching the final three episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and it definitely ended on a high note. *Mari* *Yamamoto* as *Keiko* *Randa* killed it in the last episode. A very realistic and emotional reaction finding out how 56 years had just passed and not 57 days. Monarch finally improved the human element from MonsterVerse. The part with Godzilla didn’t feel necessary. It was almost randomly added onto it so we can see the Big G kick ass. The strongest parts came from the emotional reunion between families. My Top 3 Best Godzilla Movies 1. Godzilla Minus One (2023) 2. Godzilla/Gojira (1954) 3. Godzilla (2014) Honorable mention Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) My Top 3 Favorite Godzilla Movies 1. Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) 2. Godzilla Minus One (2023) 3. Godzilla (2014) My Top 3 Best Godzilla Designs 1. 2019/2021 2. 1989/1991 3. 2023 My Top 3 Favorite Godzilla Designs 1. 2021/2023 2. 1989/1991 3. 2023 My Top 3 Favorite Godzillas Overall 1. 2021 2. 1989 3. 2023 Take note that I’m no Godzilla/kaiju expert. Looking back at my childhood, I think I knew Godzilla and King Kong before I saw King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) circa 1987-1988 on TV. I probably knew them both when I was about 5 or 6 circa 1986. I grew up mostly on Kong movies thanks to being in English and saw Kong many times in the Universal Studios’ tram tour. I’ve only seen 9 Godzilla movies in my entire life out of the 38 G movies and 33 live action ones. I’ve seen parts of Godzilla vs. Biollante and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) but not all of it. I’ve read good things about Shin Godzilla (2016). I would rank them like this among my favorites and not best…. 1. Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) 2. Godzilla Minus One (2023) 3. Godzilla (2014) 4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) 5. Godzilla (1954) 6. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) 7. King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) 8. Godzilla (1998) 9. Godzilla Raids Again (1955) I don’t consider Godzilla vs. Kong to be a good film at all. It’s not. And it feels more like a Kong movie with Godzilla used as a plot device. That’s fine with me because I love both characters. But movies like that are more my cup of tea. It’s basically a modern remake of the 1962 film and it delivered at least in spectacle and awe. While I enjoyed Minus One and I’ll probably watch Minus One Minus Color either today or tomorrow, I’m not dying to rewatch it because it’s a bit depressing. It lacks the fun that the Showa ones had. It works better as a film than a dumb popcorn flick but I prefer the dumb ones for monster movies like this. Like GxK in two months is right up my alley. For me, it’s F the human characters because the only things I desire to see in kaiju movies like this are titans cracking skulls. They’re like MCU with mostly alpha males and their CGI WWE wrestling. Minus One makes a great double feature with Oppenheimer. We get to see the Japanese POV after the atomic bombs dropped on them. I received my Art Spirits Hyper Solid Series Kong last night and it’s frickin’ awesome! It’s a 10/10 figure next to my Hiya GvK Exquisite Basic G21 and Art Spirits G89. All three have great articulation. Now I just need is the SHMA Kou Kyou Kyoku G89 that lights up and makes sounds but is quite expensive at $300+. This is my first Kong figure and it’s very movie accurate. I decided NOT to put it on the base or his axe. My Godzillas don’t have a base and it looks awkward if only Kong has it. I want G21 and K21 to stand near each other but the base and axe creates separation. Without the base, the scale is fairly accurate. G21 is about 60 feet taller than K21 and my K21 figure is about a half inch shorter without the base. These two figures are so perfect next to each other! If you want the best MV Godzilla figure and the best MV Kong figure, get Hiya GvK V2 Exquisite Basic Godzilla and Art Spirits Hyper Solid Kong. I was lucky to get this Kong figure new for $125. For a week, I was wearing my Team Godzilla hat that I bought from RedBubble. Now I’ll switch to my Team Kong hat which I received on the same day. I’m not one of those fans who bashes one and then praises the other. I’m a fan of both Godzilla and Kong! I think Godzilla is cooler while Kong is more relatable since he’s an ape. I grew up on these two since I was 5 back in the mid 1980s. I’m also a fan of Mechagodzilla. The Mechagodzilla from the 1970s was the first toy I’ve ever owned related to Godzilla content. I was more into Kong movies as a kid since they were sadder and were in English. While I was more fascinated with Godzilla toys, his iconic roar, his mystique, and his designs. It’s like Nintendo and Sega to me. They raised me, so I love them both along with Sony. I want to honor them all. I can’t wait to see Godzilla and Kong team up in two months and kick some Shimo and Skar King ass! Kong is like Toad in the Super Mario games. We call him Kong but his species are also called Kongs. I believe GxK is when Kong finally becomes King Kong after he defeats Skar *King.* Godzilla rules the Earth while Kong rules Hollow Earth. Godzilla x Kong is a new buddy cop movie for kaiju fans. Neither legendary titans are trying to hurt people as older Lee Shaw said in Monarch. Godzilla is only trying to police the titans from entering Earth. He’s like the MIB or TVA hunting for aliens or time variants. While Hollow Earth feels like Stranger Things’ The Upside Down and the Axis Mundi is like Star Wars’ World Between Worlds and Ant-Man’s Quantum Realm. It’s quite a trip to watch Keiko Randa reunite with her son while she’s closer to the same age as her grandchildren while her son is already twice her age! Man, I need to rewatch Kong: Skull Island again. I don’t recall ever finishing it. I only connected John Goodman is older Bill Randa towards the end of Monarch. My favorite Godzilla ever: 2021 My favorite Kong ever: 2021 Now I have them both as figures standing next to each other and looking awesome!! And I wasn’t initially a fan of either MV designs from Godzilla or Kong but their 2021 versions became my favorites for them both. Godzilla did kick more ass in KOTM while GvK felt more like a Kong movie because Kong is the closest to being human so he can convey emotions. While I believe Minus One is the superior Godzilla film, I still prefer MonsterVerse Godzilla as a creature. He’s not really a baddie. He’s only trying to protect the Earth and bring balance. And I now prefer 2021 Kong over 1933, 1962, 1976, 1986, and 2005. He’s the most compassionate Kong we’ve ever seen. He didn’t need to save Godzilla but he did anyway after G spared his life. How Godzilla x Kong plays out is Kong will lose to Skar King. Gain that glove. Call Godzilla for help. Godzilla will do it to return the favor for saving his life from Mechagodzilla. Then they’ll both beat the living shit out of Shimo and Skar King. Godzilla will remain King of the Monsters on Earth. Kong becomes King Kong of Hollow Earth.
my favourite design of mecha g Edit:i rewatched godzilla against mechagodzilla and the vertical lined eyes are a reference to when he first gets powered off
Kiryu just has one of the greatest mech designs ever, even outside the Godzilla franchise, it is just such a CLEAN design
He 'ight.
I greatly prefer the Diesel, Swiss-Army Nature of Showa Mecha Goji.
@@Da_ComputerMonster You just like him cause he round.
edit: oh wait you said Showa, he's a pointy boy, not cuddly in the slightest.
Kiryu is like a perfect combination of the Showa and Heisei Mechagodzilla.

I hope we get a Tokyo SOS version of this figure cause DAMN the darker Grey color scheme, better shading, and octagonal missile launchers look so good on the design. 😂
So I finally came around to watching the final three episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and it definitely ended on a high note.

Take note that I’m no Godzilla/kaiju expert.
Kong (2021)
2. Godzilla Minus One (2023)
3. Godzilla (2014)
4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
5. Godzilla (1954)
6. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
7. King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)
8. Godzilla (1998)
9. Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
I don’t consider Godzilla vs.
My favorite Godzilla ever: 2021
My favorite Kong ever: 2021
Now I have them both as figures standing next to each other and looking awesome!!
I regret pressing read more
Not reading all that.
It has been a hot minute since we've seen a soul of chogoken figure
Just wait until they make a GvK mechagodzilla.
lmao gotta love it when jobby surprises with the kana
so basically this Mechagodzilla is an undead cyborg than a full-on robot.
He's a biomech, not necessarily a cyborg
my favourite design of mecha g
Edit:i rewatched godzilla against mechagodzilla and the vertical lined eyes are a reference to when he first gets powered off
