Lumina in "it's fine" tier is some serious underrating, especially since it's somehow below stuff like Whisper of the Worm (which didn't see any use for so long) or Sleeper (which last saw use in Season of the Lost or if you somehow don't have a good legendary LFR). With Legendary LFRs being meta, and one of the best ones being Bait and Switch Cataclysmic, Lumina takes an already free exotic spot, gives you (and other people) one of the best dmg buffs (and barely requires any effort), and on top of all that since it's an exotic primary weapon, you'll be able to spawn way more ammo finder bricks. It's literally one of the best exotics to bring to a raid out there and gives you a lot for with barely any drawbacks.
Note about lumina: If you're not comfortable doing boss damage, would recommend picking it up. You can give someone on the team the second highest damage buff in the game, which is always going to be good.
Outbreak is the best pick for New Lights IMHO. Does decent primary DPS, does great for ad-clear, is very stable, does not require the Catalyst to do serious work, and crucially, requires zero DLC.

One thing I feel is worth noting was that lumina can be used in boss phases to give you and another player a 35% damage buff for 10 seconds. With all the toning down of damage buffs this is one of the few that remained at 35%.
Its waste of a exotic space for boss dps you need to waste to kill ads to get nobel rounds shoot them at ur allies then switch to a heavy when u can use wayy better options with well for much easier time and way more damage.
@@evo3481 lumina is probably the best for boss dps, especially for ~10 sec boss phases. and with a decent team/positioning you dont "waste" a shot or time (switching from you primary to your heavy is pretty standard and will waste a maximum of 1 second if done correctly), the buff will be applied to all mates in the radius if you shoot the ground and hit properly. the addclear is okish so having noble rounds up is not a problem, especially with no reloading required. 35% dmg buff is insane (+ healing) and there is not much that can match that, especially for stacking. well is kinda useless for stacking (25% dmg bonus vs 35%) and since divinity will be nerfed + no one has to use it means in a proper setup, lumina is actually a very great supportive weapon for BossDPS, champions and overall sustain + buffing. a skilled player with lumina can properly apply a constant 35% dmg buff for ~50 seconds (to several players if the team has good synergy). I'm very interested in the other options to provide more dmg and bonus dmg stacking capabilities. Would be great to name at least some of them.

Worth noting that with an overcharged shot loaded, you can 1 crit 1 body people with Sturm. It's VERY potent and I'm surprised I haven't seen it used more alongside Drang.
A note on the Forsaken exotics: the Forsaken Pack gives 3 Forsaken Ciphers which you can use to get any Forsaken exotics for free (with the raid exotics from Forsaken costing Spoils in addition to one of the Ciphers). If you're looking to be efficient with your spending, then the recommendations I have are Izanagi's Burden, any of the raid exotics, and then something else if none of them interest you. Both Izanagi and the raid exotics cost 2 Ascendant Shards each, so if any of them catch your eye, using a Forsaken Cipher on them is one of the best ways to save in that regard if you're able to get Spoils of Conquest.
Forsaken ciphers don't let you get raid exotics without spoils of conquest. And when you are at that point of 240 tokens, you would have exotic cipher anyway.

Ace of Spades is one of my hands down favorite exotics if only because it doesn't have anything inherently exotic about it, at least not to the extent that something like, say, Last Word is. Outside of momento mori, Ace of Spades is, for all intents and purposes, just a super refined Hand Cannon with Dragonfly, the very definition of Simple yet Awesome.
@Urazz Aw man of course, i did forget about that. Another ability that makes Ace so simple yet just so practical and awesome. A lot of exotic weapons try way too hard imo to be unique, and consequently become something that's a one-and-done sort of deal. Ace just does a lot of basic things REALLY good. Love it to death.
I would very highly recommend Traveler's Chosen to new players because it just gives really great uptime to your abilities and is overall really great for general content and base difficulty raids.
Can confirm Jotunn can be a menace in pvp. The amount of kills I've gotten with it is crazy. It's great for dealing with Titan barricades (as it creates a flame pool on impact that hurts), tends to 1 shot anyone with a direct hit (that tracking is quite good), and is a very versatile weapon (good close up, far away, and is even decent with zoning). Also personally, it's just fun to say its name every time you fire a shot. Edit: Regarding the sparrow, the only thing I can see that you'd want/need it for is grasp of avarice flawless. There's nothing else in the game where you are driving a sparrow in a gunfire rich environment. Though I'd love to see more content that puts sparrows to more use and in the spotlight. Perhaps even give them more depth than just situational fancy travel.
last word is a must for the pvp arsenal though, even if you never use it. it's a unique RPM hand Canon so that opens more options- what pvp breaks down to when you feel a weapon
Since i bought Devil's ruin, I've never used a fusion rifle ever again... there's no point for them after devil's: primary ammo, Longer range, And you get a emergency piston on top of all that, this gun changed my life, and no crappy special fusion can change my mind
I don’t care what anyone says, Tommy’s matchbook with heat rises warlock during the season of the haunted was some of the most fun I’ve had in a build in a while. Attack helicopter in the form of a badly dressed warlock
Ticcuu's divination is my go to for Solo Dungeon runs personally, might not have the best damage output but it's a very helpful with its auto aim basically xD used it to Solo Flawless Prophecy dungeon a while back. On your talk of Acrius, I've used it often for Duality Dungeon, and almost constantly out damage my friends, only downfall is it's ammo economy.
Great video, agree on everything except for Always on Time, it can definitely be useful for solo players on certain encounters (like the sparrow section in Grasp)
Pretty steep in terms of cost considering how many spoils are required. I originally left when Shadowkeep released and came back this season. I personally cannot imagine a period anytime soon when I would have so many spoils of conquest that I would splurge on that sparrow
If Eriana's got it's ammo reserves like doubled and maybe like 5%-10% damage buff I think it would be in a good place. If you were able to use it like a pseudo primary it would be a lot better imo.
I think the biggest takeaway is witherhoard and Erianas vow first for catalyst quests and then izanagi. Izanagi has been a staple for so long, is super fun to use
Symmetry / Lorentz / ticuus as well, they take forever without the seasonpass x4. Recently finished Erianas vow on an alt account, picked up symmetry couple days later; SAME BS. AVAIN, 400 playlist activities like, WHAT’
If anyone hasn’t used Whisper on Oryx I can recommend. On a full phase I can get off 27 shots with Whispered Breathing and the damage seems to hold up well against linears.
I think people should have a look at Symmetry specifically this season. Considering all of the GM’s except 1 are all arc burn, the alt fire mode on Symmetry hits like a freight train
Im just here watching the video and reading comments rattling off literally every other weapon than the ones I chose to buy over the last couple weeks (returning player) before I found this video. But like, that Trace Rifle that turns people into Singularities sounded so cool...
Note for hunters: drang on console is ridiculous when you have solid range/stability on it. Throw an auto fire mod on that, you can kill someone with 4 headshots. Add sturm, and you’ll never have to reload, plus you’re hitting 144 headshots after kills with drang that can take out people who still have their shields up a little. Throw in mechaneers tricksleeves or wormhusk, and you are absolutely golden when it comes to mobility. This is just a fun build that is incredibly rewarding upon getting kills with drang. Sidearms are pretty solid at the moment, at least for me personally
Um, Symmetry is a near beast in PvP, even without any stacks on Resolution firing mode (and is still quite decent on regular mode). Also, it can melt Gambit primevils at full stack (even moreso with the catalyst, though it took me forever just to earn the catalyst through the quest) and destroys an entire team of 4 Guardians, at full 15 stacks, with no issue (it's definitely my Gambit weapon of choice). If you want to know how Symmetry wrecks competitively, it's because it's Resolution alternate fire mode (I think I may have misnamed it lol) will fire arc tracking balls that move fast enough that Guardians can't really dodge them (the shots travel much slower than a tracking rocket but the gun fires them out at a much faster ROF). The tracking is quite good, but you'll need to have your cursor on target (when fired) for it to work - don't rely on it for fire and forget or auto aim nonsense. It's just there so that you don't have to ADS for crits, like you would with normal scouts. The normal firing mode is a full auto scout, with decent DPS... it's lowered on purpose to help you build stacks, which increase the damage per resolution shot. Again, Guardians don't stand a chance against a full 15 or 20 stacks of resolution, unless they're using Jotunn, and fire it off in time before getting melted, or are really good at aiming the stupid exotic bows when under pressure).
I'm going to suggest Witherhoard and Outbreak Perfected as my favourites and some of the best, Witherhoard is incredibly strong (basically a special Anarchy that lets you deal tick damage then switch to a Linear) and Outbreak is one of the best primary weapons in the game
I don’t know what to buy! It says It’s in my collections, but I don’t know what that is. Maybe having over 3,000 hours in this game isn’t enough for me to know this. In all seriousness, I LOOOOVE these videos so much 😊

Idk if It's because of the PvP players, but I have seen aton of people shitting on this weapon for some reason even tho It can clear adds with a headshoot and volatile rounds in high content, group enemies and then (If you can time it right, depending on the encounter) you can just make it hit as hard as a heavy weapon with Lagrangian Sight. Like, man, this thing is a beast and It's VOID. An element that is strong in every class

As a first pick must have weapon I'd say Witherhoard for sure. Its amazing, useful and a safe pick for PvE and PvP. Works with multiple builds and can be used with some of the best weapons in the game that go into the special weapon slot like Funnel Web or Palindrome.
Tbh, I really like the Mida multi tool on my controller, it’s high rate of fire tends to do me well especially in pvp, being able to use your radar can be super useful
Been using it lately. Trying to get the hang on the “fusion rifle “ side of it and the bullet on trigger release function. So far best build is with sixth coyote FOR ME
One of the best strengths of jotuun is it's overdamage -- in PVP it's like 370ish damage per shot -- so if you're going to go into level-enabled content underlevel, it will always kill on a hit, even against supers. Jotuun is also a great all-arounder in Gambit of all places. It will OHK an invader, it can perform ok while invading, it can clear the gobin and phalanx blockers in one shot, and it does ok-enough boss damage. Despite everyone memeing that it "aims for you" -- it does take a little bit of practice to find the right amount of target leading to get consistent with it. It's also got a very slow reload and very slow firing to contend with, so while it's fine in a 1v1 if you hit your shot, you typically won't get a second and you definitely won't get yourself out of a 1v2.
I know *exactly* how powerful it is, and any time I see someone using it I give it a good amount of respect, but I can't stand how awful it feels to use. It has the worst handling and reload I've ever seen on a scout, and there's something about the trigger pickup on controller that just feels off. Doesn't help that the recoil is this odd little shimmy, and it sounds like someone with a particularly bad case of the runs when you fire it.
@@griffinfaulkner3514 I guess I've just used it enough the recoil feels good to me. The reload is slow but with scout loader doesnt feel horrible. I have 2k kills on it and my lonesome and has been my go to in trails for years now.

I was pretty sure bungie made a change with the seasonal catalyst boost progression effecting previous seasonal quests as well now when you earn the boosts from the season pass.
Also Mr. Datto: Always on Time has a use now, anytime there is a Sparrow part in a dungeon or raid with lots of enemies you wanna pick AoT because it actually makes you harder to notice by the Ads, for example: the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon Sparrow part is a lot easier with AoT because you don't have to worry about the Dregs destroying it as much Still not suggesting that people pick it over weapons but it has it's place
Tbh, those exotics that get the 'seasonal boost' stuff should have the seasonal boosts applied to their catalyst in their entirety once their respective season ends. So you can get it faster during the season in the same way, but after the season ends, you don't completely miss out on the benefits.

Nice shout out for Lorentz in PvE, it's so good as a major killer and add clear weapon.
It pretty much stays in my energy slot after totems in Kings Fall, it rips. Plus, its sound design is just so, so satisfying.
Thanks for posting this, haven’t played since forsaken and I’m completely lost
I would very highly recommend Traveler's Chosen to new players because it just gives really great uptime to your abilities and is overall really great for general content and base difficulty raids.
and since the sidearm buff it is now a monster in pvp
Agreed; I use Jotunn in Gambit and it's great when invading/invaded, as well as the big boys at the end.
@@jrausislol you’re terrible at the game if you’re using that to get kills while invading? Literally anything is good if only you were.
@@smittywerbenjagermanjensen5152 Really? Does insulting total strangers make you feel better about yourself? You must be quite the little "man."
@@smittywerbenjagermanjensen5152 you seem like the type to invade with 15 motes then immediately die LMAO
We need a 2023 version of this just to acknowledge how good leviathan's breath is, especially for those without proper dps legendary heavies
This is exactly the video I needed as a new player. Thanks!
Thanks Datto! Recently came back and made some mistakes already with this but all good now that you dropped this.
Keep in mind many of them will be updated next season.
Might be time for a new list with the subclass synergy changes to a lot of them….grand overture and leviathans breath have certainly jumped ranks
Hey Datto, I got Agre's Scepter per your recommendation in this video and it's awesome! A lot of fun and definitely very useful. Thank you 👍
Nice that you try to give underequiped players a heads up. I would just recommend an actual tier list or some clearer visuals for better orientation.
last word is a must for the pvp arsenal though, even if you never use it. it's a unique RPM hand Canon so that opens more options- what pvp breaks down to when you feel a weapon
Since i bought Devil's ruin, I've never used a fusion rifle ever again... there's no point for them after devil's: primary ammo, Longer range, And you get a emergency piston on top of all that, this gun changed my life, and no crappy special fusion can change my mind
I just wish they'd sell the Platinum Starling in the kiosk, such a thing of beauty and one I regret not putting the time to farm back in the day. 😢
2:40
Bungie has addressed this awhile ago, season pass catalyst boost works on all old season pass weapons now.
I don’t care what anyone says, Tommy’s matchbook with heat rises warlock during the season of the haunted was some of the most fun I’ve had in a build in a while. Attack helicopter in the form of a badly dressed warlock
I definitely think this could’ve waited till the upcoming reworks, but great video nonetheless!
This video should've been done next season man. U know with almost 30 exotics getting reworks/tuning
Yeah, its so helpful for solo grasp.
Keep that dmg buff in pve plz
It should be able to compete with Arby even when there's not a hand cannon meta.
AVAIN, 400 playlist activities like, WHAT’
And now a team of leviathan's breath users can one phase the Root of Nightmares boss. Crazy how easily the meta can flip
Finally got the goods to buy one of these bad boys. Appreciate the timeliness
the fact that both my babies “Traveler’s Chosen” and “Lumina” being in the “It’s fine” tier, made me hurt a little bit, but i completely understand 😭
Coincidentally i really needed a video like this. Thank you Datto
I had to rewatch to make sure I didn't miss Arbalest. I assumed it was getting it's own category at first, but looks like it was left out?
It's odd too when you realize he mentions lorentz
Can you buy Arbalest at the kiosk?
Arbalest is still obtainable through engrams. This is a kiosk list.
@@hyperhinhitter oh okay. Didn't realize it could drop.
Im just here watching the video and reading comments rattling off literally every other weapon than the ones I chose to buy over the last couple weeks (returning player) before I found this video.
But like, that Trace Rifle that turns people into Singularities sounded so cool...
I literally asked Datto for an update in Twitch chat like a month ago :)
I already bought what I wanted and used all my Forsaken ciphers but I'm still watching this.
Witherhoard carried me through the legendary witch queen campaign, it’s a beast.
@@AnticitizenOne Funnily enough, I used Outbreak through the whole thing lol
I don’t know what to buy! It says It’s in my collections, but I don’t know what that is.
Maybe having over 3,000 hours in this game isn’t enough for me to know this.
In all seriousness, I LOOOOVE these videos so much 😊
Traveler's chosen with the catalyst makes it a very strong weapon for pve and pvp as well if used correctly
Bro you just won
Are you sure you're not doing this too early, considering we have 27 buffs coming to various exotics next season? These ratings could change vastly in Season 19
Meanwhile in S19, absolutely nothing has changed ( apart from whisper getting some ae)
@@user-lv8dn8gw9z Merciless is beating Cataclysmic in DPS, Coldheart is melting entire rooms on Stormcaller, Borealis has become one of the best PvP snipers in the game, and Wish-Ender + Forerunner have become PvE beasts. I disagree.
You should make a their list of all the vaults you’ve cleaned
We all know Always on Time is still the #1 Exotic to get from the Kiosk
Thank god someone says that Lorentz is good in PvE.
Me who has all exotics unlocked:
Oh new Datto video *clicks*
I remember when the Monument came out, you were right about Tarrabah: it was 1 buff away from being one of the best PvP weapons in the game
How about a video about the legendary weapons in the kiosk?
I think the only one worth getting is salvagers salvo tbh, ascendancy used to be one of the few rockets which could roll explosive light but that's irrelevant now that everyone can craft a god roll palmyra
Man... Devils Ruin is "S" tier in PVP imo. It is a menace with the sidearm buff.
Cryo is as well with a throwing knife build.
Been using it lately. Trying to get the hang on the “fusion rifle “ side of it and the bullet on trigger release function. So far best build is with sixth coyote FOR ME
For pve: Grand overture, Levi’s Breath, Fourth Horsemann > Ace
Traveler's Chosen in the PvP list flexing in the corner waiting to be called to the front of the class
Travelers chosen is amazing for any ability spam build
Already got the witherhoard so I went with Agers septer. Needed a good weapon for my stasis subclass going into lightfall
I find it's getting harder to ohk supers with it recently.
Rat King with GH is so much fun. I’ve been seeing a lot more people use it that I ever noticed before so rat pack is proc’ing which is cool.
Ever since smg’s got the range buff, imo huckleberry has been a monster at add clearing
Jotunn in PvP is the funniest shit sometimes. Gotta love the toaster
I love that symmetry is still slept on in pvp 😁
Cryosthesia also continues to be slept on. Happy day :)
I know *exactly* how powerful it is, and any time I see someone using it I give it a good amount of respect, but I can't stand how awful it feels to use. It has the worst handling and reload I've ever seen on a scout, and there's something about the trigger pickup on controller that just feels off. Doesn't help that the recoil is this odd little shimmy, and it sounds like someone with a particularly bad case of the runs when you fire it.
dont forget Polaris lance
@@griffinfaulkner3514 I guess I've just used it enough the recoil feels good to me. The reload is slow but with scout loader doesnt feel horrible. I have 2k kills on it and my lonesome and has been my go to in trails for years now.
@@poisonpen37 I've been playing with cryo some once invis gets nerfed I might be going to stasis and running cryo aishias
Great video! Very informative
Le monarque is great for pve and pvp well then it has to be my first exotic purchase. Thanks!
If I remember well, I think Bungie said that the catalyst season pass upgrade will apply to weapons from a previous season pass. I might be wrong.
Only for witch queen season pass weapons and onward
@@smokeybeartx2001 Thanks for the clarification!!!
Bad juju underrated fr, I often pick it above outbreak
oh nice
needed this
wasnt sure what to buy after i brought the legacy edition
2:54 I have the catalyst already, but thank god that's been fixed.
You didn’t even mention Tarabah in the PvE section!!
I own every weapon besides Tarrabah and it’s tempted me for so long as a collector but I’ve held off. Only raid I’ve never even attempted to try. That opening encounter didn’t seem fun for even the greatest clans it definitely wouldn’t have been fun with an LFG group.
Thanks for saving me spoils I would of listened to you and went and bought it if you said to. I’ll hold off until the day it becomes the meta of all meta.
i already know where everything will be but i will watch this
Frostbolt still does 0 to 5500 Glory rank runs with Ace of Spades which just goes to show how good it still is
I was pretty sure bungie made a change with the seasonal catalyst boost progression effecting previous seasonal quests as well now when you earn the boosts from the season pass.
The coolest looking one first yall
Also Mr. Datto: Always on Time has a use now, anytime there is a Sparrow part in a dungeon or raid with lots of enemies you wanna pick AoT because it actually makes you harder to notice by the Ads, for example: the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon Sparrow part is a lot easier with AoT because you don't have to worry about the Dregs destroying it as much
Still not suggesting that people pick it over weapons but it has it's place
Need to buy the hit gun Ballyhoo mk. 27 with zorpal weapon and rapid shit
What are you doing outside of reddit you slugger
Tbh, those exotics that get the 'seasonal boost' stuff should have the seasonal boosts applied to their catalyst in their entirety once their respective season ends.
So you can get it faster during the season in the same way, but after the season ends, you don't completely miss out on the benefits.
I'd put Lumina in the contender tier IMO its heavily underrated
Was surprised to find out Queenbreaker's ain't in the kiosk. Wow.
Outbreak perfect and agers scepter are my favorite for pve
Perfected*
That moment when you have all the exotics.
You know the game is stale when Datto is making videos about a kiosk.
Bastion being completely forgotten about as the one unstoppable special weapon which frees up your primary for another cheap champion mod.
After exhausting all my vendor ascendant shards, I must now try to get 20 prisms to get witherhoard.
Thanks Datto!
