WOW!!! Glad I checked out more of your channel and found THIS set up compared to your previous one from last year!!! Gonna show this to a loved one who owns a Sony Hi8 😁
The conversion works best on Windows Movie Maker believe it or not because any HD conversion will record the 480p scanlines in 1080p and that's not pretty. You don't want those horizontal lines going through the picture all the time and it makes a curved object like a plane or people look like a series of Zs instead of a curved line . WMM gives a slightly fuzzy look to 480p while at the same time keeps the lines of any building, plane or even people clean.
Also, the computer can control a Handycam through Windows Movie Maker and you can record, save and edit without ever touching the camera once you plug it in through a firewire.
Dude you legit killed it on this video, one of the most clear and understandable tapeless camcorder vids out there. I’ve got one question though, I am currently putting together my own build, it’s a Sony CCD-TRV43. I managed to find a powerplay, and I was planning on getting a devbuild cable as well. but I’ve realized that my camcorder has a separate audio and video port, do I need get a either different cable or adaptor? I guess I’m just a bit confused on connecting everything for some reason lol. Once again great video! Wouldn’t have got this far without it dude
I don't want to buy any device until they finally make a device that connect the 4 pin firewire to the video capture that will keep the footage quality 100%. Anything out there yet or maybe it will never hgappen.
I just want to thank you real quick for doing this and sharing it. I did the build and it works great. I get alot of compliments when I upload to instagram. I was curious though, is there anyway to get that timestamp on the bottom right? Like the one that has date and time
I have a Sony TRV37. I ordered those Sony NP batteries and the Devbuild mount for underneath the camera. I have the exact phone holder you’re using ( i have the same setup with the clearclick from your old video ). Is there anything else i will need? Does the devbuild part need something else to hold onto the phone holder?
I have my old TRV900 that i'm running the clear click on it. I think you definitely lose some quality with the clear click but I don't really mind it as it gives me a more rugged "90s" look to it in my opinion.
@@lamelalo6444 nobody is forcing you to buy it. It’s the only mount on the market, he assembles them by and designed them by himself. I think it’s fair but you can make your own mount.
6:56 I ordered that piece from DevBuild , and i have the exact same phone mount, but mine doesn’t fit into the devbuild piece. How did you get it to fit
I will say there is a quality discrepancy between the tapeless build vs original tape use build. Its noticeable when comparing between both using a VX1000 and for me personally while tapes are expensive and less convenient I appreciate the novelty of them but I do have an old canon GL2 that I might convert to tapeless cause the playback feature is broken.
I got the same sony hi8 camcorder and recently bought the powerplay. Everything works fine except I can't record with any audio and I don't know why...Does anybody have a solition?
What do you think is the best value second hand vhs/hi8 camera to get? Also what's the best place to buy them. I've seen quite I couple on ebay but it would suck to buy it and find out it doesn't work after the purchase
Also are the microphones on these vintage cameras bad? And if so what is the best add on microphone to use? I'm mostly looking to record car meets so there would be a decent amount of loud noises from backfire and engine revs
@@SilverSwagboss The microphone is not the best. You can ordered a TESTED one off eBay but they are pretty expensive. You can check Facebook market place, local thrift stores, Flea markets to try and snag one at a cheap price. You may want to record audio separately unless you want that dirty vintage sound with the footage.
@@TylerCaseyProd the clearclick 3.0 has an internal battery and its a full screen, the quality from it is amazing ive bought this and compared and the new clearclick is alot better
Hey is there anyway this will work whit cd camrecorders ? , I have a Sony handy cam dcr-dvd101 and it’s telling my disc error n stuff so I js wanna use something like this to eliminate the problem and film stuff and on top of that it won’t lose the stuff I recorded
Hey nice vid! I heard that tapeless builds dont capture the Hi8 look that I want, making the footage look cleaner. In that case, should I just transfer tape with a USB A/V Grabber?
Here are a few things to try... Try taking the tape out Try shooting with the tape in and just record to the tape at the same time (rewind when it gets full) Check the settings for the auto shut off feature.
Hi, I got a TRV510e today and I cant use the battery's I've got, they're not infoLithium battery and the Camcorder won't work with them, I wonder how your camcorder did accept the other batterys like the one with the USB port because this isn't a infoLithium one either or am I wrong?
@@TylerCaseyProd that's weird, I've read a lot of forum posts where people have the same problem. I bought 2 infoLithium batterys now, hope they work. I'll get a TRV130e in the next days too, I can check if this one accepts the other batterys too
@@TylerCaseyProd thanks, and sorry dumb question but do I need to connect an audio cable from my camera to the power play or does if record it automatically?

if not this what would you say is the best way to digitize the tapes??
idk if theres one for 4 pin but there is one for 6 pin (firewire 400) called the Focus Enhancements FS-H200
