"I say Tadaima every time I eat food"
"I say Otsukaresama to my family every morning"
That sent me so hard😂😂😂😂😂
That's the most threatening 日本語上手 aura.
おもろ
you bastard! we say, "who's fire is it anyway!?"
"I got caught up with One Piece"
THAT'S IT, THAT'S THE ONE
No one can disprove this one
Just watch Tom and Jerry and you have caught up to Gear 5 Luffy in 15 minutes 😂
Gambatte!
Getting caught up on One Piece is harder than N5 fr
I caught up after I passed N1 abd another test harder than N1, can confirm
I’ve passed N1 but have yet to catch up with One Piece 🫠
"Japanese loan words make sense to me"
I studied 5 units of a course and then started translating (decyphering?) anime songs' lyrics using a grammar book and a dictionary, and asking questions online when I couldn't find an answer by myself. I watched tons of anime, took notes of new words (by the thousands), learned grammar points for n2 and n1 online. It still took me 5 years but I passed the N1 without ever completing a course. I'm proud and I feel stupid at the same time
hahaha i'm basically doing that now. Only i'm trying to translate manga, i can't memorize things well so i thought active learning would be better i have a vocabulary source and Kana list adn I have to look up the kanji, lol. so i'm translating manga and Japanese novels, while watching movies and anime to figure out grammar and pronunciation. I feel dumb but I think its working better for me.
It’s pretty efficient actually. Gets a little messy when you’re trying to review millions of words added to your deck though…
I think my first foray into Japanese was trying to make sense of the opening song of Escaflowne with only a dictionary. I didn't get "iranai" at all. It was a long time ago.
N1? Damn you're good lol.
I study 4 years in Japan university, 6th year in Japan now. Most likely I'll fail if I take N1 lol.
Took N2 8 years ago tho, but from what I heard N1 is just that hard. Not even japanese can do N1
I am trying N1 in one year just to see if I am capable... I want to die
On a more serious note, it takes a while to pass N1 - especially if you’re focused on learning the language and not just trying to game the test.
N1 in one year is not possible. Maybe N3 year its possible if you know what youre doing. Some people took them 3 years to get N3 lol
@@ahabrawgaming1289 agreed - I didn’t pass N1 until I was in college, but then again, I’d never actively studied for it
@@ahabrawgaming1289 probably gonna take me 2 years to finish studying for N3 so 😭 (1.5 years in, about a quarter through N3 grammar. Doing great on vocab and kanji but grammar kicking my entire booty)
I passed on the JLPT. Learning Spanish is quite fun.
hhhhhhhh
Bien ahí che!
Ah a fellow Spanish learner, guten tag mon amis
Me gusta comer tacos con mis amigos
@@chiefpanda7040 you just reminded me about how, in my 6th grade intro to spanish class, we had a project where we had to make a powerpoint talking about the foods we like. Each slide was just "me gusta (insert food here)" with a picture of the food. lol
N4 at heart
I'm on N3 right now. Road to N2...
Also loved the Tekken reference lol
Set my desktop wallpaper to 明日から本気だす
I study the scene where Jotaro approaches Dio every day
Watching Japanese streamers and pretending I knew what they were saying helped me think about taking the N5.
No but honestly I accidently said よいっしょ while i hung up my coat at the start of a job interview and the Japanese interviewer commented on it 😅 i didn't even realise i said it, it was extremely embarrassing.. he's my boss now
1:26 I need to stop watching UA-cam and go get on my exercise bike and watch anime, because obviously the reason that I haven’t even passed the N5 yet is that I’m only on episode 461 of One Piece.
I'll try beginning mornings with the 「心臓を捧げよ 」, thanks for the tip!
Watching every the first take in one sitting is INSANE 😂
But not more insane than catching ip to one piece
Now I understand why I progress so slowly in my japanese learning journey. Thanks for the tips.
The tip with the Switch is actually good. Theres loads of nice games to learn Japanese on there!
I started eating my chips with chopsticks and wrapping my bananas in plastic. I'm basically N1 already!
The Yakuza line has now deleted 90% of your job opportunities
僕のやり方は、N1の準備の時に教科書を全部捨てて、道元を見てばかりいた。
落ちたけど、より有意義な時間が過ごせた。
確かに有意義な時間になる。
Thanks for the tips Dogen I just passed N0
Instructions again unclear, got a spot in Trash Taste Podcast instead. まぁ、いいか。
Watching these lessons has actually made me better at translating the anime "PaRappa the Rapper" into English.
I kept thinking that 頭高型 words were being spoken with emphasis, so I kept italicizing that work in the translation. After going over some of my translations, I realized, "Oh, that's just how your _supposed_ to say that word.
I also kept thinking that 平板 words like 行かない were being spoken with a lack of interest, and would translate accordingly, not realizing that's just how you're supposed to pronounce it. It's really embarrassing going through my old translations and correcting every instance where I misunderstood the accent of a word.
... Wait, there's an anime of that? I only know the video game.
and here i am trying to pass N1 just by studying.
"I play Yoru in Valorant despite my will"
0:55 My mind is blown hearing Dōgen giving a Tekken 8 reference. Now I wanna see him play that game.
Dude you are a hero for that final punchline. Thank you.
you inspire me to keep trying
nice. good job. congrats!
Youre so real for this
the real real way to pass the JLPT is to find exams from previous years and memorize those
the hidden techniques, thanks for sharing
How foolish of me for thinking that this was gonna be a serious video lol
I wish I had that kind of determination like you discussed in the video. I can only study for a couple hours a day and then get tired. You definitely have my respect. ,🙇
Very useful 😂
Akira soundtrack is actually bangin
00:40 Hime hime! Hime! Suki suki daisuki! Hime! 🎵
Amazing hahaha
Ah, now it all makes sense!
Nezuko body pillow is the way
1:09
you mean RTA? you aren't jouzu enough
This. Had to look up what RTA was last year after my favourite UA-camr started doing GeoGuessr RTAs
I recently started chugging through the "First Take" content and I feel so seen lmao
I spoke to the foreigner working at the convenience store... in Japanese. He's always very genki.
Dogen, watch the translator of Shota Imanaga in the video called “Shota Imanaga joins MLB Central”, the way the translator changes his voice tone depending on the language he speaks is a great example you could use in your video.
I liked the JLPT. I took it several times and I'm a bit burned out on it now but it was fun for a while.
"Only as Cloud"
You got me.
おいおい Ghibli museum in Mitaka is amazing!
I got my dad to trade in the Rav4 for a Mazda. Woodstock ? Hiroshima !
Spaghetti? I ate mussels out of the jar with chopsticks for over a year! Still didn't pass any JLPT level though.
Nice Goemon reference.
Well, that's your problem. It took you a year because you didn't get a Dreamcast and play Kikaioh and Chu Chu Rocket to 100%.
Nice.
The Tekken reference caught me off-guard lol.
The N5 ending got me.
OK, trying that matcha latte every day one. Does it make a difference whether you buy it from Starbucks or make it at home?
0:48 Oooh that's where I went wrong! Silly me used actual black magic to get myself a Canon camera, I read the guide wrong
Very legit 😂
そうだよね〜
Never leave the house without a box of pocky
Another Master Class in sarcasm. 🤣
ナイスビデオDOGEN。
Why is this so hilarious
I walked with my feet pointed inward.
1:20 ok caught me off guard on that one
0:02 Now I know what Kokimoto Mishima was wearing lol
Lmao hilarious. But does he actually have Japanese tutorials? Or only skits ._.
I have a video series on Patreon that breaks down Japanese pronunciation and pitch-accent in detail with high-quality native recordings. Here is a sample video from the series! ua-cam.com/video/mxLwyrfRxEM/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
😂 So Jozū
I can't tell if the extention on the "u" is part of the joke lol
it is 🤭@@justyourfriendlyneighborho903
He got that Furlan salute
I changed my phone's language to Japanese. Where's my N1 certification?
"I listened all the albums from akb48"
But... I don't want matcha latte, I prefer yuzu cha 😭😭
Maybe that's why I'm not nihongo jouzu 🤔🤣
that xiaoyu reina part caught me off guard lol
xiaoyu is actually op in tekken recently lol
LOL, that how to draw book, I have it.
Why not ditch the kanji and use hiragana and spaces intead? Do you think I can get a job in Japan if I pass the N5 next year?
Shout out N5!
I don't know how much is true and how much was just for a joke
Homie had a big year
Dogen 先生 why does your 抱き枕 sound like だきまから here?
Instead of going alone, I said つれしょん to my 仲間
My love will always be xiaoyu but i understand that in the path to fluency sacrifices must be made.
I did eat spaghetti with chopsticks for the past year. Mainly since the only utensil I owned was a pair of chopsticks.
JIJI 🐈⬛ ❤
TIL Dogen is (was) a Xiaoyu player

This move lowers your social credit score so do this with caution.
Why I gotta get personally attacked like this?
Bro I did switched to Reina thinking it will help my japanese somehow 💀
reina is the right choice tbh
"I got caught up on One Piece."
I never even started.
Clearly, this was my biggest mistake.
I started One Piece back in 2008 and got lost thanks to Toonami being the only way I could watch it; when they stopped airing, I stopped watching.
Its been 16 years and I'm too intimidated to start again.
I KNEW Mystical Ninja Goemon from my childhood wasn't for naught!
Incredible game
Jokes aside I think visiting the Ghibly museum is totally worth it. No regrets on that regard.
You had all your Gundam models tell you「日本語がとても上手ですね!」
So I clicked on the video thinking if he did it in one year then maybe it’s something useful and I can learn something and get to that stage in maybe five years. And then the video began 😂
Dogen zako.
I passed jlpt by memorizing all of naruto handsigns, catching all pokemons in pokemon go, and getting adopted by a yakuza leader
じゃ〜僕は自転車乗りながら[ 姫、 姫]を歌った
If he went to the Ghibli museum, he would have done it in 10 months, tops.
This is kind of too accurate lol, i hated using genki so now i watch 2 episodes of Cardcaptor sakura everyday. Its working
So much of immersion learning just sounds like being a fucking weeaboo :(
Like nooooo I promise I'm being culturally enriched by this I'm not gross lolol
don't stop at N1 - strive for Kanji Kentei level 1 and Nihongo Kentei level 1
