Honestly and unforunately BSD's current chapters are feeling like those final chapters of shounen manga series. Like JJK or BNHA. The great final fight with overpowered evil. This is the thing that made recent chapters less entertaining for me. I think BSD's old chapters where series had it's own charm was better and I don't want it to borrow a shounen formula. I wonder if Asagiri is getting influenced by shounen series.
Yeah, I still do like some of them, but I wish they weren't like that. This isn't even the final arc yet, so idk why they give off that vibe in the first place. I hope it stops feeling like that soon, preferably next february.
Or probably how poorly they handled the anime, and how much of the fanbase enjoys it, but assuming they'll stay like this until the arc is over I can only pray for a breath of fresh air for the Order of the Clock Tower

Which makes me really sad because he is my most favorite character in show and seeing handled in this way and die after a typical shounen battle would be so lame. I miss the times where he was just a Russian with a deadly "I kill who I touch" ability rather than this overpowered 1000 years old final boss.
@@witchbetelgeuse I completely agree, he's my favourite as well and just by being an antagonist means that sooner or later he'll get defeated with 'the power of friendship' by the protagonist. I find that so boring since I know despite being shown as undefeatable in these chapters, just from reading other books/series(etc) we know that the chances of him actually winning are really low(and does almost nothing for a proper end of BSD imo). So it really does take a lot of the excitement factor(at least for me personally). I don't have a lot of theories at the moment, regarding how Fyodor can be defeated, but I'm sure Asagiri would surprise me either way. I just hope he does my favourite Russian man some justice. As for his goals, well I'd be really interested to see Fyodor's plan actually in action. If we could get a spin-off or something like the Beast AU where Fyodor actually wins, I'd probably be the happiest person in the world. After all, who wouldn't love to see their favourite beat, everyone, effortlessly? (I'm eating these last few chapters up lol; sorry for the rant btw. Plus Dostoevsky irl is my favorite author. I also hope for seeing Fyodor in different AUs. What if he succeeds, what if he was a good person? And I absolutely need to see him in more dynamics with different characters. I honestly don't want him to die in this arc. I just want him to get down from his current overpowered status. HI, here's my opinion on random stuff (feel free to share yours, disagree or whatever, I like discussing in a FRIENDLY way) Fyodor has been saying things like "An unlearned outlook befitting of your short lives" (as well "Three dimensional beings such as you..."), and in the panels he also looks like he is thinking and remembering some things from the past as he talks. Especially that expression at 4:43 looks like he is literally visualizing it, he knows how humanity is from experience for sure, he even says he can prove it. Speaking like that he openly admits he saw bad things, there's things so bad and Fukuzawa and the others cannot comprehend because they haven't lived enough to witness them (or do not have the power to know other things, being three-dimensional). Doesn't even seem too happy about it too despite smiling tbh, doesn't give me the vibes of someone who enjoys that misery at all. In the end, if he truly hated humanity/ability users, he wouldn't have done all this, he destroyed his own life by committing unforgivable things and he for certain knows he cannot go back from it, ever, it takes some real thought and strong beliefs to do something like that, and if beliefs are so strong they're surely deeply rooted (WHICH MEANS WE NEED HIS BACKSTORY BECAUSE AAAAAAAA IW AWANAN WANNA LKNOW). I just know that if hypothetically he were to change his mind on those ideals he'd be absolutely destroyed and crushed by it all, having done everything for nothing with no way back, I think it probably won't happen tho (maybe, depends on what Asagiri has in mind for this character) also, I've seen someone talk about how Asagiri mentioned Dazai having the mind of a 2000 years old being, which in my opinion would further prove the theory then that Fyodor is for sure around 2000 (since it is not confirmed to be the exact age tbh), it would make so much sense since the two are so often mirrored. Dazai being an old soul, having witnessed the worse of the world since a young age and having no reason and nothing to fill the void, Fyodor having lived through years and years of wars and atrocities and having developed such a twisted mindset and goal...they fit each other perfectly, despite the differences. Same coin, two different faces. It really is Asagiri's style, showing how similar traumas and situations can have such different impacts on choices, views and everything. I love them
the monthly chapter format is painful for most mangas tbh, but once the whole arc is complete i think it'll be awesome, asagiri is cooking fr 🔥even if nothing too eventful happens i'm always happy to have more beautiful harukawa art and it's always fun to see peoples analyses :D i saw a discussion recently analysing his speech and comparing it to the grand inquisitor and notes from the underground and i thought that was really cool, i love when people actually pay attention to the manga and i can't wait to see what's next, also keep it up with the videos i really like them thank you :D

a little (very much) late to this, but i wanna talk about how genuinely amazing these discussions are. i've already known about and agreed with many points in your videos, but these thorough analysis of them made me understand them SO much better. i didn't even consider details like Fukuzawa not being sucked into a bubble, and other points from videos i wont bring up right now. though, it's safe to say i am now VERY hyperfixated and will probably even do a shit ton of my own research, so i wanna thank you for bringing me back into bsd theories, expect to see me on every other one of your videos as SOON as i get the notification 😭
If I'm not mistaken, I think the inspiration for Fyodor's belief about humanity is from the original author's book Brothers Karamazov (Specifically a story one of the characters in the book tells. Very simplified: it is about Jesus' rebirth in about 14th century where he meets a pope who tells him that his teachings about kindness etc. can't fundamentally ever work, because people aren't naturally kind to begin with + majority of people cannot decide what's good and their own values by themselves, but rather follow what those around them/people in power tell them; therefore there are only few true believers whereas the majority of humanity is a blind slave to a system, be it corrupt or not) I just thought it might be cool to mention from the literary reference perspective
I haven't been following the manga updates too closely I actually only got around to reading 120.5 today (and then updating my friend on the new chapters developments because they haven't been keeping up with it at all) and then this showed up on my FYP and I was like, WELL Anyway THANKS FOR THE ANALYSIS IT HELPS ME SORT OUT MY OWN THOUGHTS BY LISTENING TO OTHER PEOPLE AND YOUR THOUGHTS ARE REALLY GOOD ONES

Definitely agree, especially considering some abilities have quite niche applications in terms of usage, e.g. Fukuzawas, Ayatsujis in Gaiden, and Pushkin. But something a bit weird about that is the "iffy" circumstances for abilities passed down, I.g Kyoukas, Tsujimuras, and ones that seemed to run in family considering Tachiharas brother had the same metal ability. For the case of Kyoukas and Tsujimuras they definitely changed in some ways because of their abilities, but then what would be the different between abilities that users innately have the they go through events that make them suited for that ability, and others that gain them through others like Kyouka through similiar events? Another thing is I noticed both instances where abilities were transferred they have way less control in them, for Kyoukas it's kinda obvious why since it's on her phone, but what about Tsujimura?
@ for kyōka we can see that directly after she gets her ability, her life changes deastically, she goes from a girl with a seemingly nice home life to a homeless orphan, to a port mafia member. I havent read tsujimuras light novel yet though, so im not too sure abt her
Am I the only one who thinks that Fyodor actually looked kind of like he was recalling a memory in some panels. Like he looked sad and nostalgic at the same time to me in my eyes. Fyodor better have a heartbreaking backstory to excuse his actions >:(
These last few chapters have sounded so shonen like and I don't exactly hate it but it doesn't feel much like bsd. And I'm probably wrong but I think I smell studio bones in this This last chapter was definitely the best this year, though. I loved the conversation about war and while I didn't think too much about it (I only had time to read the chapter at almost one in the morning I had to sleep) Fukuzawa did sound strange but your analysis makes sense, we really might be getting more info on abilities. ever since 105(?) was animated before it even dropped, i've felt so off about bsd. the series feels so stale and it's kind of hard to believe that anything's even going to happen to the ada (except for fukuzawa & eventually dazai) because of asagiri's constant deathbaiting.
Is it just me or anyone else also thinks that fyodor's thoughts and goals are quite similar to Moriarty's? Like I know William was kinder and much lovable character than our rat demon from the north but still...lord of crime and fyodor are quite similar about humanity

With the addition of fukuzawa dying, katai ability vould be more powerful? It was said that he was in the agency before so katai's ability could be limited and with kunikida dying katai character's become more interesting- his character already interesting but more on the mystery side so yeah. AND AND- WHERE HAS MORI BEEN ALL THIS TIME???? the port mafia has turned into vampires who maybe have lost all their memories and now fukuzawa died, since mori helped chuuya get to dazai it could be he's still human mori's character is similar to dazai so i wonder how he would react to fukuzawa's death, so only the guild's leader and the port mafia's are alive- and since of one of zskk died natsume will probably come in later chapters? Or I'm hoping so.

I might sound insane but I genuinely think and feel like fyodor is not a villain, here’s my theory. Fyodor is an interesting character. He claims he’s a man of god, in which a lot of people don’t understand “how could he possibly believe that if his goal is to kill all ability users”. He wants peace. He’s immortal and has seen humanity destroy itself countless times, and if you think about it the ability users only fight with each other and cause destruction and death in Yokohama, as much as I love Chuuya and Akutagawa…you need to push aside their fineness and look at the obvious. They work for an ability users crime organization. The guild (in which is made of only ability users) nearly destroyed Yokohama in itself. The ADA? They may seem like the good guys but we’ve seen it itself…atsushi lit got kicked out of his orphanage cuz his ability got out of control. I believe dazai knows all this and understand Fyodor and his goals, just by the first episode when he was “fighting” atsushi and he said “you could rip a man’s heart out of his chest” as if knowing the danger that comes with atsushis ability. I love Chuuya…but cmon…he’s lit merged with the god of destruction. And think of Yokohama without the ability users, it’d be just like our world. Trust me I’m not saying fyodor is like an angel and is actually the real protagonist because that’d make me actually insane but I do believe that fyodor has somewhat good intentions. I definitely know I’m wrong about half of the bullshit said in here but whatever, if your reading this i just wasted your time with my theories, thank you

A genuine question, what do you think will happen to the characters still stuck in prison? They cannot exactly just teleport to the goddamn airport and help everyone, but letting them do nothing is a bit anticlimactic.
I hope we get to see someone from Stormbringer helped them get back to Yokohama. Anticlimatic it is but it's also rather realistic in a way. Things usually take time and lots of efforts. Some says BSD is getting to shounen-like for the dramatic fight so a bit of anticlimactic may balance that out.
Idk if its just me, but I kinda think Fyodor is going the easy way out? I mean, he see's the war and destruction humanity has caused and he immediately thinks they should be rewriten in some way, just like abilities. Sure he's right about how humanity would'nt work together to fix a global catastrophe, but he's ignoring the fact its not a black cloud of shittyness. He won't even try to bear through the shittyness to the goodness humanity has to offer. He's kinda lazy in some way, emotionally. Am I the only one who thinks that Fyodor actually looked kind of like he was recalling a memory in some panels. Like he looked sad and nostalgic at the same time to me in my eyes. Fyodor better have a heartbreaking backstory to excuse his actions >:(

This last chapter was definitely the best this year, though. I loved the conversation about war and while I didn't think too much about it (I only had time to read the chapter at almost one in the morning I had to sleep) Fukuzawa did sound strange but your analysis makes sense, we really might be getting more info on abilities.

ever since 105(?) was animated before it even dropped, i've felt so off about bsd. the series feels so stale and it's kind of hard to believe that anything's even going to happen to the ada (except for fukuzawa & eventually dazai) because of asagiri's constant deathbaiting.

With the addition of fukuzawa dying, katai ability vould be more powerful? It was said that he was in the agency before so katai's ability could be limited and with kunikida dying katai character's become more interesting- his character already interesting but more on the mystery side so yeah. AND AND- WHERE HAS MORI BEEN ALL THIS TIME???? the port mafia has turned into vampires who maybe have lost all their memories and now fukuzawa died, since mori helped chuuya get to dazai it could be he's still human mori's character is similar to dazai so i wonder how he would react to fukuzawa's death, so only the guild's leader and the port mafia's are alive- and since of one of zskk died natsume will probably come in later chapters? Or I'm hoping so.
Katai isn't in the agency before, so he's not under fukuzawa's wing. That's the full extent of his ability

I might sound insane but I genuinely think and feel like fyodor is not a villain, here’s my theory. Fyodor is an interesting character. He claims he’s a man of god, in which a lot of people don’t understand “how could he possibly believe that if his goal is to kill all ability users”. He wants peace. He’s immortal and has seen humanity destroy itself countless times, and if you think about it the ability users only fight with each other and cause destruction and death in Yokohama, as much as I love Chuuya and Akutagawa…you need to push aside their fineness and look at the obvious. They work for an ability users crime organization. The guild (in which is made of only ability users) nearly destroyed Yokohama in itself. The ADA? They may seem like the good guys but we’ve seen it itself…atsushi lit got kicked out of his orphanage cuz his ability got out of control. I believe dazai knows all this and understand Fyodor and his goals, just by the first episode when he was “fighting” atsushi and he said “you could rip a man’s heart out of his chest” as if knowing the danger that comes with atsushis ability. I love Chuuya…but cmon…he’s lit merged with the god of destruction. And think of Yokohama without the ability users, it’d be just like our world. Trust me I’m not saying fyodor is like an angel and is actually the real protagonist because that’d make me actually insane but I do believe that fyodor has somewhat good intentions. I definitely know I’m wrong about half of the bullshit said in here but whatever, if your reading this i just wasted your time with my theories, thank you

A genuine question, what do you think will happen to the characters still stuck in prison? They cannot exactly just teleport to the goddamn airport and help everyone, but letting them do nothing is a bit anticlimactic.

Anticlimatic it is but it's also rather realistic in a way. Things usually take time and lots of efforts.
Some says BSD is getting to shounen-like for the dramatic fight so a bit of anticlimactic may balance that out.

Idk if its just me, but I kinda think Fyodor is going the easy way out? I mean, he see's the war and destruction humanity has caused and he immediately thinks they should be rewriten in some way, just like abilities. Sure he's right about how humanity would'nt work together to fix a global catastrophe, but he's ignoring the fact its not a black cloud of shittyness. He won't even try to bear through the shittyness to the goodness humanity has to offer. He's kinda lazy in some way, emotionally.
