I really like that i found this video ive watched the anime lots of times and im slowly getting the manga i read the first few books and i would randomly stop yo geek out and admire the differences and new things i seen in the panels i was really disappointed to find out how different the anime was to the manga and i mean that in the sense that that what i watched wasnt what i read and i really wanna see the manga animated in a sense that its 100% accurate the way i wouldve folded to see some of the scenes that were taken out get animated

OKAY OKAY I NEED TO MAKE A NOTE OF THIS BECAUSE WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT SHIBUSAWA DISCOVERING HIS ABILITY SPARKED SOMETHING IN MY BRAIN. Relating to what abilities are, what if they're not something you necessarily discover but an intrinsic part of you (possibly like you said related to trauma / other mental illness related things) and with Atsushi specifically discovering his ability, it could be a result of his PTSD where he blocks out memories? It kinda conflicts with how Atsushi experiences flashbacks more than complete blanks but could be an aspect as to why he doesn't remember his ability as the memories of it are repressed to trauma (and now that I think about it also his acceptance of his ability in dead apple and remembering the memories with Shibusawa and may be this theory has more of a foundation than I thought). Anyway I love your videos so much and you've helped me to understand BSD so much more. Thank you so much for making them I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into them.

I love you so much for this! As much as i love skk, i hate the way they're (especially chuuya) are mischaracterized. I also hate the fact that anything that even mildly mentions chuuya/dazai turns into the entire thing about them. We see it in stormbringer where most(not all) people talk about dazai living in a shipping container and how he was there for chuuya. First of all, this is about chuuya. Second of all, how can a person focus more on the ship and their interactions more than what the actual novel is trying to portray. Do you not understand or try to understand that this is about chuuya's past!? Do you not see the absolutely horrifying things that happen in it other than your cute little ship!? We also see it beast, where in the ln and manga chuuya doesn't have many scenes (only one or two as i remember) but many people just talk about how chuuya has to be the next pm boss replacing his old friend- i get it, it's sad and all but can we focus on how Atsushi and akutagawa are fighting their own struggles and now are burdened by the task of saving the world? Can we just focus on the main issue at hand? AND now we also see it in the main manga. When in yokohama, Fyodor is literally killing everyone who is in front of him, atsushi is having a quarter life crisis, feels alone and abandoned and is desperately trying to find a way to stop this, some people are doing what they always do- wondering what their precious skk might be doing. I get it. I genuinely do. They are important to the plot, how and what they do to stop this world from getting destroyed and save their friends is really important. BUT not in the way some people portray it to be. I've seen some people commenting (not on here) that they must be out on a date and doing the boombayah. I'm like WHAT? Their friends are dying and this is what you care about? That being said, thank you for reading this absolute rant of a comment 🫶

Letter to both sides (as a SKK shipper): Dear THOSE skk shippers: Please, for the love of god, respect other ships. Also, stop chalking up BSD, or at the very least Dazai and Chuuya, to only Soukoku. I love SKK as much as the next guy, but there’s more than that. It’s not hard to make a good SKK romantic dynamic, just like read the light novels or Wan or something. I'm quite young myself (I'm not giving any range for my own privacy), I got into BSD around late 2022. BSD was recommended to me when I was in a pretty dark time and it has served the purpose that Asagiri wanted, it has turned into an oxygen for me. I love how the story is going and I can't wait for the next chapters to come. I hate how people say that BSD has no plot and other things similar. I have around half of the light novels and I'm hoping to get more eventually and I can say that I prefer the writing of the light novels and how Harukawa has drawn the manga SO MUCH more than the anime adaptation. BSD has led me to getting back into reading, my shelf is FULL of books now thanks to BSD. I love going into the works that are related to characters, even the characters that haven't gotten much screen time! I've read some of the real works by the authors and in my opinion, it gave me a new light to their characters. I'm going to be getting Dogra Magra, the book Yumeno's ability is named after, and I'm very excited to look and see if I can find any relation to their ability or character in general. I love looking for the tiny little details in the characters and I wish that Bones Studio respected Harukawa more. I love how all the characters are not all good or bad, they don't fit into a black and white world view. I watched the anime first, and I found it not very entertaining. After reading the manga I loved it SO much more. I do hope that in the future the anime can be better than whatever it is now though I'm not very optimistic with it. I have so much more I want to say, but I'm terrible at putting my thoughts into words and don't know where to begin so I'm ending this here. I apologise if this is too long of a comment, I really adore BSD and it means so much to me. I may come back one day and add onto my thoughts or reword them because I'm not so sure I was able to put everything into words the best that I could.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but I, while I like skk, only ship their fanon version. So when I read fanfic about them I don't think of them as their canon version, again idk if this makes any sense whatsoever 😭

i am absolutely in love with the manga. harukawa’s art is just amazing. the way she can portray so many emotions with just black and white is mind boggling to me and i always take a few moments to admire her art when i read the manga (mostly the way she drew revived aku). just gotta say, the way she draws eyes, 😍. harukawa’s way of drawing the characters eyes really embody the quote, “the eyes are the window to the soul”. no words can describe the beauty of her work. everything from the posture of the characters to their eyes, expressions and outfits all reflect the characters unique personalities. i was wondering why almost any edits i’ve seen abt atsu’s trauma was just specifically that one scene, and it makes me irritated to know it’s cause only that scene was animated (i saw another comment that said the reason it was the only one that was animated was cause the animators were uncomfortable abt animating the rest. but isn’t the entirety of bsd supposed to make you uncomfortable? it’s like a reminder that there are real people out there doing the same and/or similar things). my personal favourite is this one edit abt atsu being accused of stealing candy and the punishment, but that scene was only in the manga, so i don’t think many people use it. his trauma was watered down to pretty much that one scene (+ a little abt him being locked in a cage). and i’m not to sure, but iirc, the scene where dazai learns that q was set free, i don’t think the anime did his expression right. i don’t recall him looking nearly was frightened as in the manga. now, abt dazai, he’s such a complicated character. no two characters see him the same way (maybe except kunikida and chuuya. they can definitely agree that he’s a pain to deal with). when you think you know what he’s doing, bam, plot twist, you don’t. there are so many tiny details in his character that make him interesting. i’d add more, but i haven’t finished the anime yet, and some of my comparisons are based on clips i’ve seen of the anime. i will be rereading the entire manga just so that i can give harukawa’s art and asagiri’s writing the love they deserve (and probably to cope from the recent chapters) edit: i just realised how long this is 💀

I think Chuuya would get along with Poe, and yasino for poems and wine and he would shit talk with kunikida about dazai I wish there were more fanfics where he has more relationships because he lost a lot of friends and I feel like he should have more

I got into BSD a while ago but I think this can also play a role with pjo as well. I’ve been a fan for over six years and I keep seeing so many headcanons and fanfics where Leo Valdez and Nico Di Angelo are trans with like 1 million side sexualities. Like please, just leave them alone. They lost pretty much their entire original personalities to turn into only being gay and trans😭

As of rn i have only watched the anime and then picked up manga where the anime left off. I have also read afew light novels and read the beast manga so i am at least somewhat aware of asagiri's writings and harukawa's art, and i would like to say that this video has done a great of explaining the bsd anime. And i fully agree with your points, Asagiri and harukawa's art was absolutely neglected in the production of the anime.
