I'm still using mine every day. I don't like large smartphones so migrating to something else is not much of an option right now. I finally made the decision to update mine from Android 9 to Android 13 with a custom Lineage OS 20 ROM. I'm super happy with the result.
i know ur comment have 1yo, but if can i ask, do u have problems with performance after install android 13? i want to do this but I'm scary about decrease the performance
@@anonamnesis7556 No performance issues. And Android 9 is so old by now that you start to run into the problem that modern apps will no longer support it. Battery life is getting lower but this is due to the age of the battery and not the rom itself.
I have it, black as well. Bought it two years ago for 100€, still love it, I use it as mp3 player, and to play some games sometimes, it can handle 10-15 min of modern high quality games at Ultra settings... It is a perfect phone. I have 128GB memory card in it.
This phone was the best one I had... And I was in apple tech support... For the first two years of usage my battery lasted for a whole week, and I love to listen music via blootooth headset. No lags no freezes, no bloat wear... You can still play league mobile and pub g on it... But I stepped on it's screen and its tottaly busted, I had it for 4 years, it was amaizing.... The form factor is genious, if you drop it the screen wont crack ... Well if you wont throw it I gues... And now I can't find the a simmilar form factor phone, with a nice cpu and simmilar battery life...
For me the hidden gem was the xperia z1 compact, at the time the android land was all made of plastic this was a made from glass and aluminum, a great cam, and waterproof and small, more or less the iPhone 6 size, the bad was the not so great software support. but the Z2 and Z3 corrects this, and still has LineageOS official support after 10 years.
Great review, subscribed. Do you loose camera features after rooting? eg. 960fps, shutter button? I had z2, dynamic range is low but with controlled light, 4k quailty is still amazing. rocking the 1 iii now.
Thanks! If you don't have Sony's camera app you can do 120fps slo-mo in Open Camera, but not higher. I tried sideloading the Sony camera app but it didn't let me do it in LineageOS. Shutter button works completely fine, you can even configure it to launch the camera from the lock screen. Also, nice that you have a 1 iii! I've been thinking of getting something like a 10 V or 5 IV but that's something for the future.
this phone used to sell massively couple years ago in my country as a secondhand junk phone from japan. yet lots of them had a problem related to the signal carrier which the signal turnef off by all the carrier after couple months simcard inserted. it is easily became hot when it used as daily driver. this phone designed to be used in 4 seasons country, not to be used in tropical region which most of the time is hot summer and dry season

A couple of months after I published this video I went back to stock but it disables the cameras if the bootloader is unlocked, which you can't re-lock. The bluetooth issue was resolved and I even installed LineageOS again, but now I don't use that phone anymore
I don't own one, but what I've seen is that it's better than the XZ1c - Better display - Taller screen ratio - Android 10 stock ROM The only bad thing is no headphone jack, but few phones have it now anyway
@@ArnauDisrepair Oh, thanks! Feel your pain about jack) Bought galaxy s21 this summer, after xz1c broke... Nice phone, but too big for me + all this converters on headphones feels dumb. Now thinking about xz2c.
I got mine a while back, bricked it within a day though sadly. I'll get another one, when I can :D (For context, (please help me if you know how :v) I tried to flash LineageOS, but I had to flash TWRP and that bricked Android, as it constantly keeps glowing at "Xperia", it shows up fine in fastboot and the bootloader is unlocked)
If you can boot to TWRP, then you can ignore the bootlooping Android and install LineageOS. You should be able to go to TWRP by holding some volume button, or by booting with a fastboot command.
@@ArnauDisrepair it returns some error about authorisation or hangs forever when i try to use fastboot to boot to twrp, flashing in itself just errors out (ill give more context when im not in a train lol)
Yo man, i have this phone and its my main, i really love it, also does you know a good way to downgrade OS? From android 9 to 8, my xperia is from docomo
I don't recommend downgrading to official firnware, because unlocking the bootloader (which is unreversible) disables the camera in stock firmware. If you want to use Android 8, you'll want to use LineageOS
I have looked at it for a long time. At the time I was shopping for a phone, everyone started saying that older Samsungs have batteries that swell up, so I decided to leave it for another time. If there is a way to install LineageOS/Pixel Experience on it, I'll totally check it out in the future. I'm not a big fan of OneUI...

I have a question: Did the custom rom keep the functionalities of the camera button?
Yes
Try turning off Nearby sharing and Bluetooth scanning. On some phones, this was caused by Play Services update, which kinda broke it.
Turns out it was just a software fault. I flashed another ROM and bluetooth started working again.

Hey all Scott here
rounded corners looks ugly, square looks better
Especially the rounded screen corners and the notch
Great mobile phone, but poor GPS sensor.
nah a 5.2" 422ppi display is way better and yet still compact compared to 4.7" 312 ppi display which is why this wasn't that popular back then
5,2" at a 16:9 ratio ain't compact unless you have big hands
