i remember when i bought, it was new and it was around 800$, and as i remember 800$ back in the days is like 2k nowadays ....miss those days golden days
I still used my Xperia Z in like 2017 and would still probably have used it till security updates stopped if i didn't have a crash with my bike and cracked it. It was amazing phone and didn't seem outdated till many many years after it came out till Huawei released their beast of a camera phone.
13:40 I find it weird that even for 4G users (Samsung A51), I was forced to use E network standard on data. I was in India but for visit meaning my Australian SIM amaysim which had tied with Airtel which gave me 4G for a few days upon landing. After that, no 4G, phone is capable of 4G tho yet I only get 2G standard data, no browsing or anything despite a hefty roaming charge. It also worked only in state of Kerala and interstate travels would disconnect from it. Aside from that, TIL I only found out the Xperia Z (or the one in the video) is only capable of max 3G but no 4G as per your country specifications which is quite interesting I find considering as a former Xperia Z user my self which I only learnt more abt smartphones including WiFi and Data internet thru that device. good times
It's been a while... 2013 was 11 years ago LOL :D The smartphones have gone a long way since then, I'm so glad that pretty much even entry phones are snappy and fast, are supported for longer and generally offer more - lagging and heating during app updates is not that common anymore. CPUs went a long way too.
I use this phone as a gaming emulator and for FPS Android shooters for my big ass TV...it has 3 gig of ram, which is better than the standard 1-2 gig ram on these cheap game boxes that freeze.
Impossible in India because of import restrictions and website bans, but outside you can grab one easily on eBay or Aliexpress, which is super cheap too.
Those old Android versions were really crappy compared to today's Android. This phone would probably perform better with a custom rom that's got Android 9 or up because they use less resources and are more optimized
Agreed! I was really tempted to flash a custom rom on this phone, but I want to keep this phone as it is, its more of a collectors item now. I had Google Play Services crash once while updating the apps (happened off camera, so could not catch it), but after that everything just worked, which is surprising because of how badly optimized Android used to be.
These phones were so small and light weight that you could not even tell that it is in your pocket, I still have my old Z3 Compact, need to make a video about it someday, but sadly top part of the touchscreen does not work, but still a great phone.

Agreed, 800$ was a LOT back then. But what a time it was, every phone was unique in terms of features and design.
I loved and still love Sony Xperia ❤
I love Xperia too! Sadly Sony discontinued them in my country, or else would love to get my hands on new ones.

What a surprise, I'm too writing about the same phone, have a unit in similar condition though black, and from India as well :)
Recently got a z5 premium and it's honestly usable for the most part. Biggest issues are probably battery life and slow internet
It was one of the best phones back in the day! but that 4k screen is a power hog!
Make a video step by step with a custom rom os on these z ultras are amazing
I would love to see this video. I still have my Xperia Z Ultra, and would really love to use it online, (I currently run it offline).
I want to see android 14 on this device
I still have the original xperia z and the youtube thing is interesting, it used to work last year. Sad it doesnt anymore
and it's a Google.
That is so sad, I am guessing the battery went flat and wont charge!
@@TechGuyCharlie Battery still kinda works well only 2h of screen on time but the touch function of the screen stopped working unfortunately.
Hi - can you do a tutorial opn Android Contacts [phone] - backing it up, restoring it etc.

Time flies!! and I agree, entry level smartphones have become really good, Samsung's M series is a great example, Android itself is more optimized.
Omg that W705! it was my first sony ericsson ! beatiful equipment
It is such a beautiful phone!

Woah!
Hi, what widget and wallpaper are you using on 24U please?
You should instal a costum rom
I thought about it, but I want to keep the phone in its stock condition for now.
after the update, u can always return to stock rom, @TechGuyCharlie
What android version does it have ?
Good. But I wouldn't give up my s24 Ultra for this
Ofcourse not, no one in their right mind would use a decade old phone for a brand new one.
I really like Xperia phone usability of the phones last long😊
Mine hangs a lot...not usable much
Do a factory reset, and it will start working fine.
I have tried that already, will try again. Thanks for your reply. One more query gave you used android auto in it?
Still more customisation than modern day iOS 😂
all those app you have still works?
Some do, some don't.
Still looking to buy z ultra😅

@@TechGuyCharlie Had the same experience. It takes it sweet time to update.
It has Snapdragon 800🗿🔥
Monster chip.
I have sony xperia z1 mini
Z1 Compact? What an amazing phone. Too bad no one makes compact smartphones anymore.
@@TechGuyCharlie I remember I bought it specially for it's size and I liked Sony mobiles
