It all started with the book "Roadside picnic" by Arkady Strugatsky , then the film by Andrei Tarkovsky, " Stalker", which then inspired the S.T.A.L.K.E.R video games. I'm glad I get to see the next in line of inspiration with this upcoming fan film in addition to STALKER 2.
Escape From Tarkov is also evidently inspired by STALKER games and now I think I know how they came up with the "Tarkov" name. Maybe it's just me but I think those dots connect pretty well :D
@@CrazyHoneyful It definitely is, I've completed STALKER Anomaly and there was many similarities especially when trying to compare to the late development plans/rumors where you will have to go to traders yourself in-raid also there will be more factions I think ( e.g. UN AI roaming around ) which will essentially be like STALKER minus mutants/artifacts and maybe radiation. However some ppl on reddit thinks the opposite and see no similarities at all.

Hell there's even a manga and more recently an Anime called Otherside Picknic that clearly draws on this especially the title Roadside Picknic even if it's more heavily involved with creepypastas and urban legends it still has things like anomalies, artifacts and is awash with strange phenomenon.

Nothing compares to a blowout in Stalker for the sheer levels of atmosphere and immersion. Especially when your wearing a gasmask and wiping away the rain on the visor as you run to shelter.
Tarkov is way scarrier and more immersive than Stalker tbf , im sticking with Tarkov until Staljker 2 comes out
@@viliusesmontas1515 Theres mods for anomaly that add the tarkov bullet cracks and gun sounds and also the body health system (limb damage and etc)
There’s actually a mod that adds as much from possible from EFT into anomaly but I don’t remember what it’s called

@@viliusesmontas1515 tark isn’t scary at all unless you’re bad at fire fights. Stalker is horrifying from the sheer volume of shit that can and does go wrong. An emission when you’re in the middle of zaton and beyond irradiated. Getting ambushed by pseudodogs. Fire fights with one of a dozen factions. Or just getting sucked into an anomaly you just barely didn’t see. All of this combines to make a much more in depth and spooky atmosphere. Much more intimidating than wandering around popping scavs and occasionally getting in a fire fight with a player. Because that’s it. That’s all there is. Besides the odd map that has raiders. The only way tark gets spooky is if you go looking for spooky in the form of the cultists on a night map. That’s it.

This. So true. I did the turn off the brain scorcher mission fully kitted out, nosorog exo, empty, goldfish and an mp7 with 300+ rounds and vykhlop with 60 rounds total. I made it out having to knife snorks to death and with less than 10 rounds of ammo to spare, and had to melee a merc to death in the wild territory. You can be prepared for 'anything' and the Zone will still find a way to catch you off guard.

Truly looking forward to and hoping to see stalker two sometime in the next two years. I was really looking forward to it this year. As long as they capture the dark gritty and frankly terrifying five step the other stalker games had but with modern-day graphics this game will be an absolute f****** smash Hit and have endless replayability.

Imagine we had a CO-OP version of this game. Just you and your friends taking on contracts and stumbling through the zone discovering weird shit and surviving on scavenging. And no its not like DayZ. I love the kinda smart NPCs that do their thing in this world.
Check out Ray of Hope, its a project being worked on and it is exactly what you are describing, better yet I think it might be in the x-ray engine as well so A-life will be there but take that with a grain of salt

I'm not sure what his entire mod list is but from what i see in the video he has the food drug and drink animations mod (That's the actual name for the mod) boomsticks and sharpsticks aswell as HD models

Good guy Drewski helping a stalker after accidentally murdering his buddy, honestly though its a little thing but it says a lot about who you are, I feel like most people would’ve have simple gone “oops, oh well” and just ignored it, but you went out of your way to make it up to the guy… and he’s not even a real person, its a good way to live life man

This exactly.. it just sucks absolute ass that Grishko may or may not make it 10 minutes into the next video. Seriously, this game is incredibly unforgiving, even moreso when it comes to your followers/squadmates. They don't just go down for you to revive them if you have the equipment and/or resources. They just die. No getting them back, unless you load a different save. And as I said in another comment, you can have goodwill with factions that are primarily hostile towards the Free Stalkers/Loners, so that they won't be hostile towards you if you are in the Loners. However, it doesn't account for your Loner buddies. The Loner faction still is hostile towards the other faction, so even if you are on good terms with the hostiles, your follower may not be. And you could lose them just by mistakenly thinking that since they're in your squad, they're chill with their enemies.
5:20 You mean inverted like pull down on stick to look up? That's how I've always set my mouse, pull back to look up, push forward to look down. I believe I originally did that because of flying games and so used it in fps.

I blame you entirely, Drewski, for showing me this mod and getting me back into playing STALKER. Doesn't hurt that this series was one of my absolute favorite games ever. Which mods are you using this time around?
I can tell you he's using BaS (Boomsticks and Sharpsticks) and maybe an item animation mod, but thats all I can gather.
@@gretbruh7366 I figured he was still using BaS (which is an amazing mod, I use it myself) along with FDDA, but I was curious if he'd added anything else.

yeah bas and fdda for sure, but I think he's also using a small mod that lets you skin mutants and stuff when you're knife is away because by default you have to be holding the knife and only mods change it

You are mistaken by Halo CE being inverted, this was a mind trick from the developers, when being asked to look up, it will toggle whatever setting correct for your first direction.

To increase your experience I really recommend beef's shader based NVG and 2d based shader scopes as mods for anomaly. The periphery issue will be gone and the scopes will be way more realistic too, and it just adds for better immersion.

Probably the same reason Splinter Cell 3 still manages to look good. Photograph-based textures, a dynamic lighting system and the fact that it's pretty dark most of the time.
as someone else said, this is Anomaly, which the last update was in 2019. It's essentially all of the maps of the previous stalker games (and a bunch of other stuff (excluding the lore unfortunately)) and better graphics!

The camo that renegade had looks like standard flecktarn. Freedom Fleck is a little more saturated in the green department imo.
Watching drewski survive in the wasteland really makes you wish for some Drewski New Vegas content.

I love your reactions to something no other game has,i call it "stalker moments". When feeling of awe and fear hits you though nothing really is going on lol. Then mutant or something pops out and you start to panic an if you survive you can fell your heart beating. Then it all sinks in,atmosphere and adrenalin. Stalker moments.
I love how active the mod community still is for this game. Fingers crossed the new one will be super modder friendly too and not just a micro transaction filled dump as is sadly all too common with modern gaming.
iirc They said they were very open to modding and wanted to exclusively make it easy for modders to change the game since that's what kept the original games alive for so long.

@@domagojgalekovic8507 unreal is still wildly easy to manipulate and make mods for just gonna take a little more effort to learn how to utilize it if unfamiliar.
@@flippyz7206 the source code for the entirety of the x ray engine leaked and is basically open source at this point. Unreal engine is still actively managed by Epic and while they aren't hostile to moddefs they aren't going to give them proprietary tech or complete control over the engine.
This mod makes this one of the most immersive games I've ever played and also I'd say the only one to make me feel true horror. Seriously excited for the up and coming release

Funny thing you mentioned that Halo CE on the original XBox had inverted verticle camera controls by default because that's exactly why I used inverted controls for years! I was playing Time Splitters 2 and the controls weren't inverted and I just went "what the heck wrong with the camera?" same thing with CoD MW2 when I first got big into shooters.

I definitely recommend to use EFP repack mod, it's so good and well maintained
GAMMA is so much more refined, and also has the benefit of an auto installer, that can update the pack at the click of a button

It's not scary until you go into Agroprom Underground and one of those X Labs. Especially with graphics/gameplay mods like Escape From Pripyat.
But if you play with a single life mode ( no savegames ) or at least campfire mode then it changes everything :D
Half of my courage comes from "I can save the game whenever I want so YOLO!!!"
Without it, I probably would become a sitting duck in a hot firefight or prowling through underground labs.

Man I have to say I'm impressed with the fact that for the first time EVER in ANY game (or movie for that matter) someone actually got the thunder and lightning right. light travels faster than sound so naturally you'll see the lightning first and if you count the seconds from seeing the light to hearing the sound that tells you how far away it is.
That 31 mins flew by. Was a pleasure to watch as usual🙂

Bought all of them, played em all, then was gonna play anomaly but got other games and played those and never came back around to it… but man, I’m gonna have to install some of those mods for my anomaly, have to look up how to do that again too lol had a few removed a bunch but I’d love to have a similar experience to the gameplay you’re getting.
Its been 8 mths or so since i deleted the game due to personal and family matters. But till this day i still remember the sensation of the first emission, the adrenaline rush on bloodsucker encounters, and the immersion of the cosmic horror given, all of it like it just happened yesterday. That truck cemetery is really one of few places i roam less along with zaton and jupiter. Watching your STALKER videos made me feel like im in the zone once again as of how i entered it back in the days. Thank you so much Drewski.

I like the old games and stalker anomaly but man I was unbelievably bummed when I found out stalker 2 got delayed all the way into next year. Maybe even holiday season next year too.
Likely even longer, sadly. Possibly never even. But I do hope they can finish it. Thoughts and prayers to the devs.

it's unbelievable seeing stalker to have blown up and become the well-recognized masterpiece that it is. It has always had a niche following of die-hard fans, but seeing it finally getting the much deserved attention from the wider community thanks to the anomaly mod is amazing.
A shame it’s mostly from annoying larpers who like to play simulation games and think stalker is like tarkov with mutants

Man being in that fan film would be so much fun. I've never played the games (I just can't afford a gaming PC) but from what I've seen I like it a lot and I LOVE postepoch stuff. Just such a fun and cool concept because so much can be done with it. And the aesthetic is 9 times out of 10 kick ass. Plus with it being a fan film made and written by people who know and love the lore and don't have the constraints of working with a big production company. Just absolute dream.
scroll down to zoom makes sense because it is like you are pulling the map/view closer to you to zoom, pushing it away to zoom out.
Spent all last night playing Anomaly Expedition 1.2.1, so this was extremely fitting. Been having a blast with it and considering it's age, there's a lot with these new mods that works way better then it has any right to, ha.

If you are trying to find mid like Drewski here the name is Boomstick and Sharpstick, though if you want to improve the game without change the core gameply, you can try Dark Signal modpack
You should try some of the Body Health System mods
They divide health into limbs and parts like Tarkov does instead of a simple health bar.
Would love to see more of this content , Anomaly/Escape from Pripyat would also be dope.

Hey Trevor, if you go back to the first episode of this series and go to the comments he has a link to the mod. It is called “Stalker Anomaly” it’s a stand alone game that you can download for free. I just downloaded it yesterday. That being said I’m not sure if he had any mods installed on top of “anomaly”

Check out the GAMMA mod pack by Grok, it's by far the most convenient way of having a complete mod package with a script installer and everything. click two buttons and boom, 300+ mod pack that feels like a cohesive experience.
I would love to see you in more shows. And I would love to see a Stalker fan film of this scale.
I like how whenever you look for an FPS overfilled with mods it's just a hybrid of Stalker and Tarkov (and on the base it's sometimes Fallout 4).
Hey, I LOVE your Contain and been trying to find the Mods thats you Use for Your STALKER Anomaly (Which I haven't heard about till you started that Twitch Seires of it.) and your Mod Set up looks Amazing, but can't seem to find a list of it if you had one.
Also side note by BaS for some reason with MO2 (Mod Orginizer 2) Says that the Pack Formating doesn't looking right? Did you get that if so how did you work around it. I think its working some what as I have weapons that I don't think it's in the base game, but I can't seem to find the Load Out/Kits for the Guns and Cooler Scopes. As I have the Scar-H that you use, but only an ACGO as I can't find anything else to outfit them with.

I used a combination of BaS guns and hd models and jsrs sound overhaul and thap hand models(the newer hand models sometimes looked better) and two or three other mods that I don’t remember now but after efp 3.0 I didn’t need any of those

its been a while but ı do think the SCAR variants are from the mod ''BAS'' aka ''boomsticks and sharpsticks'' which adds a lot of unique tacticool weapons to the game usually avaible as a special reward for something or if you have high rank and high goodwill with that factions main trader.

We need a STALKER game with the gun smithing and looting of Tarkov
Defenetly! Some mods like Escape from Pripyat try to capture the hardcore feel of tarkov, but I don't think we'll ever see that kind of gunsmith due to engine limitations

@@donbehatin I already know this mod, but since it's not compatible with basically everything, I never played it. I also don't think it's as in depth as tarkov, with railed dustcover for AK's for example
While that would be cool I like how stalker works, it's not like tarkov where you're just constantly on the hunt for the meta, you just use what you've got.
@@mistermisteron Last playthrough I was using an AK-74n with a Valdei scope mounted on a pic rail attachment on the dust cover. There's multiple different handguards, pic rail adapters for SVT-40s and Mosins etc. It's pretty in depth. There's also a version of Escape from Pripyat that has Desolation merged in. Also 3d PiP scopes.

After playing through SoC and CoP, playing anomaly has absolutely satisfied that hardcore survival, gritty, tense atmospheric not quite horror shooter that blew my mind. The first time I had to face a Burer with a 19% condition AK-74N, with minimal meds and one use of psyblock, I was completely in over my head, but the game now is incredible, full body exo-suit, kitted out AEK and a compact SVK (SVD airborne variant), such an incredibly immersive survival shooter. So glad I was convinced by friends to pick up the mod, friggin incredible man, hope you enjoy it!!
This looks sick! My eyes are on Stalker 2 but it’s over a year away so I’ll definitely be downloading and playing this in the meantime.
IIRC, one story encounter was bugged in this mod yet there was a workaround on Mod DB (by simply editing the save file) - bypassing a short sequence - but imho Anomaly was one of the greatest mods ever built; not just for being a STALKER mod but as a mod itself. Tarkov should have learned a thing or two from Anomaly, regarding the combat AI. However, the insane attention to detail; like seeing your own breath condensing on your mask as you exhale, was what really hooked me up to this game back then. Great video, man!
