    Hey all hope your handling the heat well! Damn its warm! Keep hydrated. Are you a fan of Boss? Tried the ME50? Get better results than me? I hope so haha.

      I’ve had mine for 20 years, and for a long time I gave up on it in favor of ‘better’ amp or pedal combos, etc. I ended up moving into an apartment a couple years ago, and always kept this bad boy. I had to go to a line 6 spider 3 (the shame) and on a clean setting with the tone dialed in on the amp, the OD/Distortion settings dialed back a bit... it’s back in my signal chain. I have some redundancy with other pedals but I’ve gone to using this for my primary bedroom tone lol. Odd thing honestly. I only used it for effects and expression before.

    • @goliathfx
      @goliathfx  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah man I couldn't get it sounding great going direct, if I had maybe stuck it infront of a clean amp it would have been better. I just didn't have that luxury when it came to record the video. Still a brilliant pedal for the money! Thanks for checking it out man.

    • @sparkinton

      Goliath Studios I plugged it in as an “eh, why not?” and for whatever reason I got the tone I wanted when for years I was saying “good for everything but distortion” lol. Granted I’d rather have something nicer but this gift as a kid turned into a hidden gem as an adult.

      @@sparkinton wow it’s like you stole my thoughts on the distortion. I thought exactly the same also now changed my opinion on it. Glad I never sell my old gear.

      @@roe3474 same here man. Whenever I DO sell gear I almost instantly regret it. Sure, this pedal is out of date so to speak, but it’s always fun to try old stuff in new applications. Glad you enjoy it still man!

    My old guitarist had one of these! Into his Vox it’s sounded great, worth it for the cool modulation and delay effects alone

      Yeah the delay and modulation sections are worth getting it for alone.

    When I first got my ME50 about 20 years ago (actually 20 years ago this week 😳), I remember a lot of people saying the thing sucked.😕
    Now, every time I turn around, people are talking about how awesome it is. Took me until just a couple years ago when I got more serious with my playing that I realized how good it sounds. 😎

    I picked one up for $50cad. I'm still learning, so this unit and my monoprice tube amp are all I need. Great fun to try new things and see what I like without dumping insane amounts of money on pedals.

    Ive had the me 50 for ten years and I love it. I added a looper pedal and run it into a clean tube amp and it sounds amazing. Modern overdrive with the button pressed is my personal favorite for playing metal. It gives a nice low end grunt. 🤘🏼

    On the modulations, I’ve found it sounds best to set the depth (middle knob) high, then use the effects level (right knob) to set the amount.

    What I like about this, is I can use my clean Channel from my own amp without it effecting the Mids. I can't do that with my Digitech GNX1 because I lose my mids if I set the clean on Direct. Second, is that it's easier setting up the Expression pedal for a WAH since I don't have to create Patch for It, I can use it anytime, with out leaving the setting from what I just made. Third, this Pedal board uses analog dials for controls instead of digital menus that you have to scroll around to make changes. I love my Boss ME-8 but I hate wasting time going through the menus. I notice that the higher the number goes up the more Boss drifts away from the buttons and goes for the Dials.

    I use this pedal, a looper pedal, and a tube amp. All my other pedals are collecting dust. I like that I can go tone-wise from Stevie ray Vaughan, to Eddie Van Halen, to Greg Tribbett (mudvayne) all in one pedal.

    Try out the Natural drive setting. Its a real ballsy distortion and my all time favorite on mine. I gig with mine using that, the chorus, and delay and the wah. I run a boss ge7 before it for all my sound boost for leads.

    • @goliathfx
      @goliathfx  4 роки тому

      I couldn't see why you wouldn't be able to achieve a huge array of tones with it. Going into a nice little combo like the Crush20 or 35 you'd be able to pull pretty much anything off with a bit of work and patience!

    Hi, this is a very helpful video. How does the sound quality of the various effects compare to single dedicated pedals? For example why would someone choose to get a Boss CE-2 pedal etc if they could just get this multi effects pedal instead? Is there a kind of trade off in quality of some kind? Kind regards

    • @goliathfx
      @goliathfx  3 роки тому

      I honestly cant answer for everyone, but I would guess having everything in one unit and on presets is easier to some people, rather than having lots of different pedals. As for sound quality compared to single pedals, as far as I understand it the circuits inside are similar to single pedal versions.

    • @roe3474
      @roe3474 3 роки тому

      Single pedals allow you to change the order of signal chain. I have this and single pedals. I would buy the Me50 again.

    • @guitarman_3693

      you have to operate totally in memory mode. and pre-saved your settings in the correct order. like INTRO-Bank 1/Patch 1. VERSE - Bank 1/ Patch 2. CHROUS - Bank 1/Patch 3. BRIDGE - Bank 2/Patch1. SECOND VERSE - Bank 2/Patch 2. and just save all song sections in the order they need to go. my me-50 only has 10 Banks with 3 Patches in each bank. use space wisely. a lot of the songs i compose, seem to have to have 7 sections before the story/or message of the song can reach closure... lol. but i think that just me..

    To use this pedal board, is it better to use with a modeling amp or just a regular amp with no effects built into it??

    • @goliathfx
      @goliathfx  3 роки тому

      I would say you could use this with anything that can provide a clean guitar signal. So pretty much anything would work. You could go direct to an interface etc hope that helps.

      i got my me50 used & there is a free PDF manual that is only about 10 to 20 pages including the front cover, electrical warnings, some blank pages, tons of info on the i/o & settings . at the back it has a breakdown of all the pre sets & what they were cloned and modeled from. im sorry, i just looked & it doesn't say anything about it.... i seen it somewhere, recently... it might have been on the boss web site. there was a storyline about them that spoke of thier start until now

      I have this exact multi effect board and it kicks ass but is missing a looper, so I had to buy one. Those are the only effects/pedals I have and my amp is a bass amp and I can virtually achieve most any tone.

      @guitarman_3693 2 роки тому

      well , i have the me-50 & i just "did" the 2 second looper they stated it had... its in the hold function area/ grouping.... but.....2 seconds wasnt enough time to do shit.. as for the OD/dist. sound and settings. id say they lack when standing alone. my signal path is this; it starts in my soul & then thru epi LP then thru the boss me50 then thru the EFXloop on the Fender FM-100H then thru the Nux Loopcore Deluxe then back thru the Fender amp. if i had ppl over , i would run thru the PA , so we could get a better mix
