    A good film noir with lots of dark streets, the plot is rather complex and you need to pay attention, if
    you do it is a very rewarding watch. I can’t get over the sheer speed of the guy playing piano, just
    amazing. Thanks for posting.

    Hard to judge a 1947 film by 2020 standards; .......but back then, this baby definitely had the audiences agog and on the edge of their cast iron seats!....I know; I was on of those wide-eyed cinemagoers seats of the 40's....in 1947, this film had everything.

    What an amazing movie, I never tire of watching it, probably around 5 times now and it gets better each time. The jazz man was superb, absolutely awesome, my fingers were bleeding just from watching it. Fantastic upload, thanks very much. 👍👍👍

    Excellent. The piano player was Gene Rogers. Amazing face on that man. That secretary
    had spine! ! ! So satisfying , this movie. Characters to both love and hate. Lots of twists.

    Old classic movies like. these now have a home where they can be seen by all generations of folks they are free!!! Free to be seen on a computer tablet. or cell phone!!! So many good older films and even classic movie stars of long ago are now able to be seen by younger folks who will get to. see the classic movies like never before yah!!!!!!!!

    My dad used to tell me that the police drove cars that look like the PT Cruisers and would pick you up and throw you in jail and then let you out the next day if it wasn't the person that they were looking for now I see what he was talkin about great movie great cast thanks for sharing

      I did too, but thought it was kind of odd that jazz was being played in what appeared to be an Oriental restaurant.

      @@howardkerr8174 Not really. For one thing, the pianist (Gene Rogers) was playing "boogie woogie", not jazz. The distinction would have been obvious in those days. For another, this was popular music of the day, and Chinese restaurants were popular for society at-large, not just Chinese people, so of course the management would hire a musician to make music that would attract customers.

      There are still excellent films being made today but distribution is still mostly controlled by Hollywood .
      Two Greats I have recently seen are Nomadland and Ammonite. Enjoy..

    Gene Rodgers was a master pianist. I've only seen him on one other video.
    It was called "Gene Rodgers Jukebox Boogie."

    Those were the days, smoking in every take, - i remember being a restaurmant patron, wreathed in smoke, gasping for breath and finding it normal. God bless the smoke free environment league for banning that crap form basically everywhere.

      @@Carly8Corday ~ I had to look it up. Funny thing is that hellacious is defined as something distasteful, awful, nasty, or repellent... but can also be used as a slang adjective meaning remarkable, unbelievable, astonishing, or extraordinary. I did not know this.

    Not the "double-double cross"! If this movie had a bigger budget, maybe the cast from the Mercury Theater, such as Orson Welles, Everett Sloan, Erskine Sanders, Agnes Moorehead, etc; I think it would have been really good.
