I from Lisburn, I moved away to join the Army aged 16 and I am 40 now. My parents still live in Lisburn as does my Brother, in fact my mum works in Greens Food Store. Obviously is still come home and it is a shame the decline of the town. I have fantastic memories of my home town Lisburn, buying Star Wars figures from Leisure World etc. I do hope things get back on track for Lisburn, the home I love.
I live in Lisburn and can't remember the last time I set foot in the town [don't make me laugh by suggesting it's even close to being a city] centre. I work in Belfast, I shop in Belfast and I socialise in Belfast because there is nothing resembling nightlife in Lisburn centre. I arranged to meet my wife for a drink in the centre one night after work and at 6pm on a Friday night it was like the town that nightlife forgot. A complete dead zone. That was about three years ago. There surely has to be no more lifeless town anywhere in the UK and Ireland.
I live in lisburn and its fast becoming a dump, drug problems big time and drunks lying in the streets with blood pouring out of the wounds from falling, kids abusing shop staff no way come to lisburn.
Parking seems to be the biggest issue now, I couldn't believe it when they shut down Jordan's Mill carpark. It seems that every time something works well in Lisburn, the owners decide it's time to up sticks...
Lisburn used to be a lovely town in the 70s and 80s with fantastic shops but now it is an ever expanding city with no soul or roads to cope with the traffic. Park your car for a few minutes and you get a ticket and fine. Shops pay extortionate rates and you could say Lisburn is "Over rated" in every sense of the word. Its a great place for Chavs , paramilitaries ,drugs and underage drinking. Best thing about Lisburn is the road out of it unless its the road to Lurgan and if God spares me until I retire ill be moving to live elsewhere. Ive said a lot but think it could be summed up in one word "Dump" .
This town is is the birthplace of Brtish Officer John Nicholson who served in India as a officer of the British Empire. He was known for his brutality towards Indians and was a extreme Victoria era Christian. Other Indian soldiers Seaboys nicknamed him Nikhil Syen
I worked in leisureworld and I'm now a taxi driver in lisburn. I'll be running in the next local election and trying to get a local indoor market put back into the city centre.
I am A Pennsylvania U.S.A. resident as was my Father and Grandfather and am excited to have just found out through DNA results that all my ancestors starting with my great grandmother on my fathers side were from northern Ireland . So far we were able to go back to my 3rd great grandfather whose name was James Hogg . He was from Lisburn and was married to Ester Craig from Cookstown . My DNA has also showed that I am primarily a descendant of Great Britain although so far we have not discovered anyone out of Northern Ireland !
The only places I go to when I go home for a holiday to see my family is weatherspoons and the linfield. Beer prices are daylight robbery and when I go to an offy its even worse. I still love my home though. I hope things get better.
Can anyone tell me if a local B&b near the Lagan ,called if memory serves me,Lodge ? (ran by an elderly gentleman and his daughter,an American actor from the 70`s,George Hamilton, stayed many moons ago)are they still in business? I was there-in Lisbon back in 2004..
lisburn is NOT in britain. it is in the u.k. but NOT in great britain. got that? good. now, this ........ does lisburn have a twin city? if not, why not twin it with newry which also became a city on the same day?!!!
Some very disjointed and unintelligible cases presented by the guy with the glasses. The most obvious being "why can't local traders do Price Match?", Oh aye, why doesn't a local shop with probably a couple £100k worth of buying power take on the likes of Tesco who can sell lines cheaper than Greens can by them in?
Yes, the last guy was an idiot, he also cribbed about not caring about parking being cheap and then complained about the parking meters not giving change. I do think that parking and the tyrannical NCP is one of the biggest problems. Thought the first couple of commenters had valid points though. Someone definitely needs to manage the town better.
Imagine an American tourist staying in the Haslem hotel and wanting to walk around the city to experience the northern culture at night
9 years later and it's even worse than before. Very sad indeed
Same as many places unfortunately. Lisburn is nice though.
Gone to the dogs, Bangor and many places are the same
@@Nickersons-Theme Are they still nice places to live though, is it just the high Streets that are run down?
@@002lisamarie Lisburn is a dump

I visited Lisburn several years ago, loved it. It's not about where you are at, but rather what you choose to make out of it.
Crowded during the day
Bar 15 and Carden 😂

Nearly two years later and Lisburn is even worse!! No decent shops or entertainment here anymore. This saddens me :(

From what I hear, the rates charges is the main problem, greedy Lisburn council!

I was quite upset when Daltons and hmv closed down
daltons is open
Lisburn is nearly done but it isn’t as bad as Bangor is
They are both nice places though.
The short haired brunette is very hot!
To be fair, the only reason people visit lisburn is to go swimming ahaha

Linfield is closed now
WOW!
Good idea, I've been trying to spread it around, the more people who share it the more it'll get noticed

its true, a shame but true.
You've had 44 years to move out then.
Lisburn is much better now thought :)
We could help you spread it around? Go to wimps.tv/wimps-crews/lisburn-crew/ to see what we are all about mate! Good video btw!
I love town and there are now more shops xx
