This is a big part of Starbound that I think people like to work on once they complete the main mission, so we can have a continued use to play the game besides all the awesome mods out there.
+JJCM04 You are very right. I did not take this into consideration when making this video. This video was just focusing on the money aspect. Tomorrow's video will fix that. I'll turn you all into npc summoning gods.
I've got a bunch of tricks for ya. The best way I've found to make the houses is to make them one block taller than the minimum so you can click on the colony deed over the villager's head to collect their rent. I set up a strip of the small houses with a large, enclosed, and separate empty box above them. When they want a piece of furniture put in their house, I break a single block of the separation wall to connect their house to the large box. I then place the item they want in that large box. Since it's connected, it counts for the quest and you can close that wall back up once you grab your reward bag. I also have a separate, very large room with 3 types of each race's furniture + 3 types of cute/weird/whatever furniture, so if a villager wants a new floran pal for example, all I need to do is place a colony deed in the room and that quest will be satisfied. I also set up all my houses with a block in front of their door. It allows me to enter with the morph ball, but prevents them from escaping. Also, I recommend using the wiring tool with a console of some type to lock the doors open. It prevents those pesky doors from getting in your way. Let me know if this is helpful!
I already do the lock all doors open thing because they drive me nuts with the doors. But your ideas for easy quest fulfillment are awesome. I'll have to test those out. Thanks for the tips! :)
I was told I could have a house on a safe planet. I warped down. And tried to sell the landlord a level 6 grenade launcher that was so powerful it was illegal. He broke my deed block in 5 seconds.
Hi, One trick you forgot I think is: if you put some weapons rack in a room you can also spawn a warrior (depending of the kind (racial) decorations you also put in it. LKS
I only slowly subscribed. It wasn't instant. In fact, there's a special subscribe button that y'all don't know about that subscribes to a channel over the course of hours, versus immediately. Ease it in. Just the tip.
the weird thing is, I like to have merchant on my ship, and they can sell level 8 weapons there (I have a mod that shows me level of weapons), before the moon trick I was buying stronger stuff from merchants on my ship
This is So helpful!!!!! Especially for when someone wants me to get an per person and I NEVER CAN. Thanks so much! You must be a real pro. EDIT: an apex* person
Bit misleading, but good. You can use tonnes of different stuff for the merchants and chefs, any storage or shop related stuff for the merchants and then same for the chefs, you just need somthing to do with cooking
Yeah I have noticed this as well for small barrels, large barrels, small wooden crates and large wooden crates in 1.1.1. Wiki says they have glitch tags but I get merchants of other races using them. Not sure if it is a bug. Using 1 medieval desk or 1 royal desk will spawn glitch merchants. You can also use a wooden table that you craft from workbench and 2 medieval or royal chests.
yep i needed information about the minimum space needed to allow tenant to come in, i have the answer now ^^. base on this plus the wiki i am now building a large colony. I had to work on guard too but was not a big deal now that i understand the basics.
Moons are tier 10 gear which is better than any other planet type. Lava planets are the next highest and FAR more dangerous. Moons are the best. Just be careful with the fuel mining.
So if we make our houses with generic lighting and doors and follow the other steps, we can get the merchants we want. but what if it's perfectly generic?
This video was to focus more on maximising your income from these guys. But you have a point I should have included them. I also forgot the Floran merchant so I'll have a second video for you all that includes special colonists, guards and the floran merchant by tomorrow.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels Starbound isn't as popular as it should be?
It's old and hasn't been updated in over a year. It's popularity done came and went m8.
It hasn't? I'm still running 1.2.1... Anyway, aren't they making a Console release this year?
Lol they've been making that for like 4 years.
Oh lol. People still talk about Terraria though.
@@Firespark81 I heard that the devs have stopped supporting Starbound in 2020, is that true?
I like this guy. Not only is he very helpful, he actually responds to comments!
Alex Van Dyke Exactly.
agreed! im just sad he doesn,t make starbound videos anymore..😔
@@mymyrrah yeah!
Ahhhhh nooo starbound videos anymore I buyt it for 2 days ahhhh

For a chef I always just use the Kitchen Counter, because you can get it pretty early game, and It still spawns a chef
Nice catch. I want more chefs on my starving front xD
I was told I could have a house on a safe planet. I warped down. And tried to sell the landlord a level 6 grenade launcher that was so powerful it was illegal.
He broke my deed block in 5 seconds.
LMAO
Hi,
One trick you forgot I think is: if you put some weapons rack in a room you can also spawn a warrior (depending of the kind (racial) decorations you also put in it.
LKS
Yup I sure did. Didn't think people really cared about them but apparently they do. So Ill have a video on this tomorrow.
High-lotl.
Also, the ship light is considered an Apex item. It's even labeled in the files as "apexshiplight".
3:22 wow best house wanted to live there
Great job brother. This make it much easier for me to tackle tenant thingy.
bought the game in 2024 and it was very fun playing through... .still good game even without any new updates...
Dude, you got good vibes. I like you. Thank you for your videos 🙂
Omg i love starbound, and i saw you're channel, heard you're awsome voice, watched some tutorials and Instantly subscribed! :)
Glad you enjoyed the videos and welcome to the community :)
+FireSpark81 I was expecting you to have more subs due to your awesomeness
I only slowly subscribed. It wasn't instant. In fact, there's a special subscribe button that y'all don't know about that subscribes to a channel over the course of hours, versus immediately. Ease it in. Just the tip.
Thanks for this video, I had a lot of questions answered.

+ELOO LV ZDWFKLQJ Oh really!? That is an awesome tip! Thank you.
+ELOO LV ZDWFKLQJ Oh really!? That is an awesome tip! Thank you.
bit so I guess the higher the licence or bigger ship, the higher the loot?
This is So helpful!!!!! Especially for when someone wants me to get an per person and I NEVER CAN. Thanks so much! You must be a real pro.
EDIT: an apex* person
Why didnt you just replace the text
Really good video. Answered exactly what I wanted to know
Glad I could help. :)
ahhh, good stuff, learned new things.
Thanks for the Videos FireSpark! You just got a new Sub :-)
+Scream.X Welcome to the community! Glad you enjoy the videos. :)
thanks for the video it's very helpful but plz if I build in the moon I got a very good items like in level six planet
for the chef any cooking items will do, even a campfire.
Kitchen counter also gives a chef
awwww sheeeeet, nice video!
:3
thanks for the tip...you are awesome
Bit misleading, but good. You can use tonnes of different stuff for the merchants and chefs, any storage or shop related stuff for the merchants and then same for the chefs, you just need somthing to do with cooking
Very useful. Thanks
You can place as many mini colony deeps as you want into a house.
what about an asteroid planet? in terms of weapons available
+Draco asteroids are low threat.
Hey firespark I heard that if you build a colony in your ship they will sell higher than level 6 weapons
you would need a really big ship for that
project of a gamer not necessarily I did it and the tenants don't need much
okay, now to find out if there are any more tips on max tier guard tenants...
Might've been an update, but two small barrels for me spawns random merchants. Doesn't really matter though :D

Very usefull, thanks.
i enjoyed this video
how do you get a human to spawn
what type of light is it in the Compact house?
quite useful c:
Thank you
What about floran merchants? And novakid?
thx for the video.
+selphie tilmitt you are very welcome hope you found it informative.
yep i needed information about the minimum space needed to allow tenant to come in, i have the answer now ^^.

Thanks for the usefull info!!!
What happens if you break the colony deed?
Btw another sub.
+Gustavo Grande The tenant goes away then you place the deed and another one spawns.
Moons are tier 10 gear which is better than any other planet type. Lava planets are the next highest and FAR more dangerous.
Moons are the best. Just be careful with the fuel mining.
Matthew Wilhoit use a terraformer
For the moon? Or the lava planet? I've not tested the terraformer out yet, not sure if it changes the planet level.
Wait but, how do you get a Floran Merchant?
+glardian966 use primitive chests
Veilen dank.
I did use them still I get normal villager
What about nova kids?
Im guessing some kind of frontier storage
and florans
Use some novakids stuff
is this daily dose of internet?
Nah, man, he provide "daily dose of video goodness".
What do you mean by the different levels of the planet ? ( i.e you mentioned a level six planet. I'm a noob, I know, but please explain? )
+Exora planets have difficulty levels. Higher the level more difficult the planet.
is 'dangerous' the highest level possible ?
I think it is too, thanks :D
ive seen an impossible planet as well
Which planet are you on in this video?
no novakid?
So if we make our houses with generic lighting and doors and follow the other steps, we can get the merchants we want.
but what if it's perfectly generic?
O.o
so you can't spawn novakid merchants?
+Crimson Eye yes you can now
FireSpark81 but how? i tried this method but it didn't work
+Crimson Eye watch my other video on tenants teaches you how. :)
I watched the video. I tried using frontier items and such but i couldn't make a novakid merchant to spawn.
you forgot about guards and special colonists
This video was to focus more on maximising your income from these guys. But you have a point I should have included them. I also forgot the Floran merchant so I'll have a second video for you all that includes special colonists, guards and the floran merchant by tomorrow.
what about Novakid?
look their other videos
it's a bad idea to colonize the moon *cus erceus ghost*
+star warrior 2016 shoemaker the ghost only bothers you if you have fuel on you
FireSpark81 oh
+star warrior 2016 shoemaker, cause*, erchius*, ghost*
Can you use torches?
yes
OBEY
star warrior 2016 shoemaker never
Are you DanderouslyFunny?
DangerouslyFunny
So what level does your ship and space station count as?
