Having the gate only on ch2 was a tradeoff that meant it doesn’t screw up the clean channel if using ch1 that way, since it automatically turns off. You can’t do that with an external pedal noise gate so you end up compromising. So if you want to gate both you can add one in the loop and the built in will still help you get more gating on the heavier channel
This amp is fantastic! I am doing just as you said, I’ve got an ISP Decimator II on my main pedalboard that I run through the loop of my 5150III EL34 Red Channel to quiet it down and it totally works that way with this amp on the green channel with the overdrive engaged and boosted!
Are you going to update the existing EVH line with the built-in noise gate? That would be so nice to have that across the line. Huge fan of your work, so far you've designed my favorite amps!
Nice job! The footswitch Boost not only kicks on the output Volume Boost knob…BUT it also adds another ~8dB of input gain to both channels even with the Boost knob down.
Hi James, can you tell us, what kind of cab is simulated (number of HP, HPs, mic) with the emulated output... And is possible to desactivate it? I cant find any informations on the official EVH website
@@davidfarant8474 it’s an analog lag-free simulation of a 412 straight cab using an omni studio mic about 3 feet away….so it sounds like you’re in the room with it. It’s tweaked to get a nice Celestion tone starting point that can easily be EQ’ed at the board or recording input. You can’t deactivate it BUT it’s right off the preamp out, which is flat……so you can use that to send a non simulated signal. The power amp mute switch shuts the power amp off after that point.

Ray , Your Smile When Your Playing
You Really Love Playing Guitar 🎸🎸
The Sounds You're Getting Are Killer
You Brought That Amp To Life !!
Great Demo 🎶🎶🎵🎵🎸🎸
Thanks !!
Hey thank you so much for the kind words!
Is there an fx loop switch on the footswtich?
Hey mate. How LOUD is it? I run MARSHALL DSL 100's in our metal band in and push that hard thru 412'S using Marshall gain. Been looking at these??? REALLY want some 6L6 action - 6505's are hard to come by and are frickin $$$
How is the tone at home or low volume? Thanks
Hard to hate perfection.
Would you recommend this or a Marshall DSL for someone who is into punk, thrash, and alt rock?
Great vid. To the point. Great riffs
Very nice Riffage to test this beast. What a review and what a sound!
Thanks for the demo. Between reviews from you and Kyle, I believe I'm gonna get me one. May take a couple months; but, I'm pretty determined.
I've got the 15 x 60 watt combo and it's a monster. For the price you can't beat it.
Really enjoy the video man! I’m looking at getting this amp to play at my house, do you think this is over kill?
Been waiting for this! 🙌🏽 Let’s go!! 🤘🏽
Sound killer dude!!
The Amp Sounds Dope even with a Gibson lol!
Its almost as if gibsons sound good thru any amp!
Yeah, Gibsons sound good, they're just uncomfortable, overpriced, and underwhelming to play.
I just got one of these off reverb today. Anything I should know about it before it gets here? Lmk!!!
I agree too man killer video and for the price you can't beat it, plus the black dahlia murder uses them live and they sound killer. I'll run a overdrive, noise gate, and eq with mine
I want one too. you are too cool man. Happy face rockers are awesome. Thanks for sharing
Hey thanks for watching!
Sounds great! What pickups do you have in your Les Paul?
Think you can make a youtube short clip showing off the 20 watt mode? I wanna hear what this can do while only *mildly* shaking walls
No hate. The amp just sounds really ‘flubby’ especially in the mix. Reminds me of the 6505mh and I don’t mean that in a good way. Not to mention the preamp circuit is hybrid solid state. Just not my cup of tea. Love the channel man ✌🏻
Well hey that’s the beauty of art 🙌 different strokes. I appreciate your comment
“The preamp circuit is a hybrid solid state”
What, you mean like 90% of all tube heads? It’s very rare to find a 100% tube amp.
I also think you’re being a bit too harsh on the sound, having only heard it in youtube videos lol.
That sounds great in a mix. Very different than the evh video.
How is the Xlr speaker out? Is it worth using?
Right bout that noise gate… I use green boosted with dirty tree can get noisy …I have decent gates on it but be nice if that NG worked fir both for sure chn.
Ray..you did a good job here ...I got the Ivory one too and yeah it looks kickass ! I am going to buy a Black one too..I love my 15 and 50 watt Stealth heads but this is my new favorite amp..I really want to buy another 4-12" cab but my 2-12" with a Vintage 30 and G12H-75 really pumps out some excellent tones..clean to filthy with no problems.
As I said great job here man !
What do you think of the build quality of the amp?
Extra points for silence of the lambs in background
really dig your playing. i have been using 5150s for thirty years. I just picked one of these up from sweetwater today... lets so how long I wait for it to be shipped! :(
I want one of these badly. This is great that they're not crazy expensive either. Its definitely worth the money. Makes me want a baritone too lol
Now I'm not a metal player by any means but it sounds good to me in all honesty. I don't get the hate for this. I don't sound any worse to some of the heavy metal music I've heard. This thing can absolutely do a good EVH style tone and at that price, that should be enough for anyone to be sold on this thing.
Why are people hating on this amp exactly?
There are debates going on in the comment section as we speak
Speaking of Squier Baritone, theres a new Loathe single out.
Thank You again Sir!
Love what I’ve heard of the amp. Need to hear one in person. Saw your video of what happened to you in the army. I’ve been in the Air Force for 12 years now and I play guitar in a hardcore band called Divebomb. Would love to get you a shirt. How could I send you one?
Sounds awesome. Do you like it more than your stealth ?
Awesome❤️🔥
thanks so much!
Seriously how do people not like these
Can't wait to get it...Backorder city..nice job...just seen Tone Kings Vid...lol kinda depressed me..But you have that up beat vibe...now I'm good to go..after fluff and a few others I think it sounds Badass imo..Yhanks for the positive spin...Keep Rockin
A lot of people talk shit about this head but on all the video reviews it sounds fking killer. Absolutely drills these "the haunted" type tones
Good video review bro. I really enjoyed your playing on the les paul on this one and whilst I’m not a metal player myself it sounded killer.
This amp is close to the top of list of things I’m going to buy in 2022. Greetings from NZ 😎🎸🤘🍻
Any chance it may be used live?
We have a show here this coming weekend. I’m gonna use it and see what happens
