I was privileged to work security for a Boston concert in Calgary in 1988. I think I was paid 8 bucks an hour. I got to guard their dressing room. I was just a short dude in a polyester security outfit. I couldn't actually do anything. I was there for the illusion of security. What a blast that was. I met the band and they were really nice. I got an 8 by 10 band photo from them and they all autographed it. Very cool. You should have seen all the women all over the place just throwing themselves at the guys. Anyway, it was a little brush with famous people and I'll always remember it.
I was a concert reviewer for our Portland paper. In 1977, I was able to stand backstage, right beside Fran's bass amp, for nearly the entire concert. My hearing still ain't right.
I had the privilege of working on the Eagles Hotel California Tour back in 1978 at McMahon Stadium. Unloaded truck after truck of trunks up on the stage. Watched the show from side stage, 20ft from Joe Walsh and Don Felder. Wasn’t lucky enough to grab a picture with them, but as you say, something I’ll never forget.
@@johnnybingo1367Great story! I had the privilege on that July 25th of '78 to be on the field about 80 ft back from the stage on that beautiful summer day. Also just for a haha a gentleman right next to us partied a little too hard during Jesse Winchester who opened and passed out for the entire Eagles performance.
Bought the Boston album on casette in 1977. Three years later i bought the half speed mastered vinyl album and played it on an audiophile system. Masterpiece !
i always thought that the first boston lp sold tons of "bookshelf speakers"- since the sound made even cheap speakers glow with harmonics. no data to back up this theory- just my take!
Don't you just LOVE when the band SOUNDS LIKE THEIR ALBUM...😳 OH!!!! Thanks KEV🤘☢️🤘 Sorry for the add-ons...you did a GREAT JOB on this video for a GREAT band... Thanx twice...🤘
Saw them when they had Brad and Fran singing together. Between both of them and the rest of the band they could cover all parts of the vocals. It was awesome.
David Victor and Tommy De Carlo were right up there with them in my opinion, the main reason Fran Cosmo was singing 40-50 % of the lead vocals during live concerts (and it hurts me to say this) is because by the late 80's rolled around Brad had no where near the range he once had.

I saw Boston play in 1978. AC/DC was the opener and not many in attendance knew who they were. The Doobie Brothers followed AC/DC and they KILLED. And then Boston came out and it was magic. They burned the place down.

The sound is so synthetic on that guitar that it’s not even the sound that made Boston famous anymore. Too much technology come on Tom. Sounds like a jukebox
Definitely singing to backing track. Evident right from the first song. There is no one there singing high parts. First song singer comes in after high part intro
@@FirebrandVOCALS I am pretty sure Tom Scholz would not allow anything pre-recorded in his shows. That would go against everything he has stood for his entire career… Including never using computers or synthesizers.
They sound so much better here than they did when they 1st came out. I think it was 1976 when they went on tour? I believe it was the 1st or 2nd show they played in concert when I saw them at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy New York . They sounded so bad I wanted to cry ...and then they played some lousy songs off there soon to be released 2nd album, but that album was never released. I remember a lousy song called television politician . I guess that's what happens when you make a massively great album pretty much by yourself with help of others and then form the band after you decide you're going on tour because the album was killing it. RIP bread Delp.
yeah apparently they had very little time to get a crew together, didn't even have a sound guy. I saw them too in an early tour and wasn't very impressed. Sound wasn't great and they were still figuring out how to play live, but you have to enjoy the songs and just knowing you're seeing legends.
It is sad what has happened to Boston. Tom Scholz is basically all that is left, and it is a long way from packing the huge arenas that it did back in the 70s and 80s. A lot of similar bands have been reduced to county fair gigs and it’s a travesty. The current generation will never get to experience the “arena rock” days with 50,000 or more people in attendance. Those were the days.
You have a lot of backup singers there. Drummer in a aquarium and the singer walking around with his hand in his pocket. He nails Brads Vocals, I'll give him that.
Remember when rock stars used to look cool and you wished you were them? The way Jimmy Page looked in the 70' s was cool looking. Now they wear sweat pants and t shirts on stage like they are part of the roadies team
so 2 good albums then no more? it is all very weird is it not. were they handed a folder of songs from a government agency who wanted to manipulate culture?

What is it now? One album every 15 years? Tom Scholz : the laziest man in rock! Clearly he's never had to put food on the table. Yea, you can see him dropping out and letting other members cover. Or using the delay to sustain his voice. But it is still a great sound overall.
He actually looks bored. Zero stage presence.
Maybe Tom is paying him to sing the songs and stay out of the way?
I agree. Saw them twice with Brad and there is no comparison... Not even close!
