- “We are going into a new phase of track and field. And with that new phase, there has to be a new element. The standard is shifting, it’s only a matter of time that the world record is in danger. I’m not saying by who, but I’m just saying that if the standard keeps on going lower… it’s only a matter of time before 19.9 will get you sixth.”
2x Olympian Joseph Fahnbulleh joins us live in Eugene after competing at the African Championships this past week. Joe takes us through his questionable experience at the African Champs, his journey traveling from Africa to Eugene to catch the last half of the U.S. Trials, his analysis on some of the sprinters + events to watch for at the Olympics, his prediction for the future of the sprints, and lots more. Fahnbulleh is hysterical; just love listening to him. Go Gators!
I'm a Fahn but I'd be a bigger one if he started running 400s. Even in the 200, he's too long reaching speed but in the 400, I think he'd be a monster. Just needs to prepare a little diff.
If they had a 300m straight track race, he would dominate.
That’s a bold statement on the 4x100. I think the US has a 4x100 that can break 37 at the Olympics
Nice Take: A super relay event with super teams from all over would be fire!
Puma Jamaican gears are FYAH!
Where was the African Champs held?
Douala Cameroon?
Cameroon
Apparently they couldn't use the original stadium in Cameroon, so they had to use an emergency stadium. Still not an excuse for all that happened tho
In the trenches
Yeah nobody touching 9.5 lol yeah gotta chill, we haven’t seen a 9.6 over 10 years 😭😭
What's crazy is that the only 9.6 we've seen the last 10 years was wind aided and that was way back in 2017.
Fahnbulleh has been smoking battery acid; 37.5 at best.
Money
Africa sabotaging Africans. Based on reports the African Championships was a mess. Who organized that meet? Why did they put their own athletes at risk by asking them to run on those tracks and in those conditions?
Exactly! Especially with a month left to the Paris Olympics.
Grant can run 10.5s in the 100 and you call him a sprinter? Or did you mean 9.5? In that case you are delusional.
10.5 is very good speed for someone who doesn’t actually focus on the pure sprints
He said 10 flat not 10.5
@@will8622 I heard 10.5, but 10 flat makes sense.
