That is super low. I can’t imagine driving around like that. I already get anxiety at stock height. You should make a video on tips to drive a lowered car.
Its really not that bad. You just pull into driveway at angles.
3:20 I bought a set of cygnus coilovers, made by fortune auto, and even though they "came with the preload set", the set screws were not tight at all and I had to fix all four sides not long after installing them on my 2020 STi, so I'd at least measure the spring height and check the set screws to make sure they're tight.
Good tips I think after watching this I’m going to check my suspension setup I know it can definitely be better
OEM sport package BREMBROS have been successfully test fitted. to the rear and dust shields have been trimmed, dremeled and painted for 2019 series grey WRX only 2020 series white had brembos . love your channel inspired me to do the work rather than have someone else .
Awesome! Glad you took on the job yourself. That much more rewarding.
You could also option the 2020 WRX with the Performance package and it came with Brembos too. I'm not sure how many people actually ordered one with them due to it costing almost as much as an STI. ($4,350 difference)
Looks very nice. Thanks for the lil tips and tricks.
This is a great video. For someone on stock suspension doing this for the first time, do you have any suggestions on what height to start at when you first put the coilovers on?
Measure out the stock height and go a tad lower than that. Adjust from there
Don’t go super low, I just re adjusted mine back to a 1 inch drop, super low is such a pain in the ass to drive around with
For my faction fab FL spec coilovers I have to take the entire bottom part of the coilover off and spin it to lower and raise the car it’s such a pain, these fortune autos looks so much easier
I love it! I been trying to do mine the same but they can’t do the alignment because there lift can’t go under my car.
I’ve been eying a set of fortune auto, but I already scrape my front lip occasionally at stock height.
I am lowered like Chris, i had to roll my back fenders and roll/pull my front fenders. I think I’m going to have to raise it a little 😅. Looks sick though.
Now the question is, will you buy covers so the treads don't get messed up? Or will you put black ducktape to protect it? I did it on my BC and there clean and looking like new still.
Don’t plan on driving the car in any inclement weather so they should stay looking clean.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Nice!! I daily mine so yea I don't have much choice. BTW Awesome fitment, I am also a fitment mathematical freak!!
They sell covers for coilovers that work well what are your methods to keep the threads protected?
great video! Link to that worklight? That thing looks awesome!

@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks!
Is your rear coilover's damping adjustment knob exposed and easily accessed?
On my Tein Flex Z, after installed, the rear damping adjustment knob is totally shielded behind the chassis. It's not exposed, to any side. Pain in the neck to adjust - need to drop the rear coilovers to reach it... Not a fault of the coilover; it's how the car's frame/chassis was designed & built.
Just need to peel back the liner and you have access in the strut tower. Very easy to adjust.
Pulling the trigger soon on getting Fortune Autos for my STi as well. What recommended spring rate do you recommend if I’m not looking to track my vehicle and just want daily driver comfort for myself and family?
7k swifts or 8k hyperco.
wheel size? tire size? and you didnt show the rear being adjusted, i assume you spun the shock like the fronts as opposed to disconnecting the lower control arm?
18x9.5. 265/35. Yes same method as the front.
Just curious, did you measure full compression?
The rears is what I was wanting to see. Does the rear spin freely like the fronts with the Fortune 500’s or do you have to unbolt the rears from the lower control arms to lower the rear? There’s a bit of confusion on this and I’ve heard you can spin down the rears and others say you must unbolt them from the lower control arm and spin the whole strut to lower?
You can do the rears the same as the fronts
Looks good, what size tire you running; did you roll fenders; so looks like you lowered it 40mm front and rear correct.
265/35. Yes rears are rolled. Not sure how much I lowered from stock as I never took that measurement.
I’m also running 265/35 with Fortune Auto 500’s. Wheels are Apex EC-7, 18x9.5 +38. I’m looking to dial in almost identical ride height to this, maybe even a hair higher but this is more or less what I’ve envisioned after driving for 2 seasons with a bit of wheel gap. Did you have to do anything besides roll the rears? Install anything else besides coils and lower control arms in the rear? Will the camber adjustment that comes with the coils be enough to dial in the fitment like this?
Wait so are you 7/8th all around? or are you 1 3/8th in the front and 7/8th in the rear?
Hello. are your coils hieght are the same size ?! or measure it by ground to fender to make it even ?!
Fronts are matched and rears are matched. Small adjustments when alignment happens due even the load, but it should be almost identical.
Which nut did you turn to lower the height?
Bottom collar
I thought when you spin the spring it messes up your preload?
The spring preload is locked in by the preload collar. It will not change by spinning by the spring.
Does going with different kind/brand of coilovers alter the wheel fitment or appearance? Like if i want my wheel fitment to look exactly like yours, do i need to go with fortune auto as well given other coilovers have the same adjustability specs?
Reason i asked is because i saw someone with 18x9.5 +38 wheels and 265/35 tires that didnt fit but running diff coilovers
You can achieve a similar look with other brands, but some don’t have as much adjustability as the FA’S.
Thanks
What front lip and side skirts are you running?

Been running my set for awhile now, but question. How did you match left and right side? My threads are all same amount but one side seems to be a couple mm different. im guessing car weight haha. just OCD things!
Each corner of the car weighs differently. Corner balancing will allow to get an even footprint all around the car. Get yourself a digital caliper to measure each coil and you’ll have a better measurements. I used a tape measure in this video but have since gotten a proper measuring tool to dial things in better.
passenger side is weird on our chassis watch @chrisborges bagged sti his is uneven too, i ran into the same situation on hks coils too
Should have matched the rear with front. Just an opinion.
Should an alignment be done for everytime adjusted?
Yes anytime there is an adjustment to the suspension, and alignment should be done.
Are you spinning the spring to turn the strut?
Yes as it’s easier to grip. It’s spinning the strut due to the preload.
You don’t scrape?
I didn’t scrape with this car no
I meant to say rub but anyway, love the way you build your ride. Clean and aggressive. 😎
fortune auto infact does not preload your springs
From fortune auto directly, they do. They even have the tags on them showing it was done.
do the rears adjust the same as the front on these? i saw one vid where someone took it out of the whole lower control arm in order to spin it down, is that necessary?
Yes they adjust the same way on the rear of the wrx and STI.
