Howdy from West Texas! My husband is an eighty-two year old cowboy, horseman, farrier, bit and spur maker, etc... He is so happy he found your channel !!! He is agreeing with you on everything you are saying. He's been telling folks the same things for 60 years or so. Yes, there is sweet iron - may be one of the original Argentines' secrets... Appreciate your knowledge and your sharing.

I'm in the 'poor man's" category and have done a few rides using a rope halter for two rein. I know I am breaking tradition...should I cease and desist?

No it works fine. tradition is peer pressure from dead people. A hackamore works better but the concept is the same.

When you tie the horse above his head and with a bit in his mouth, where do you attach the horse's end of the tie rope/reins? Is there an additional halter involved?

The reins are attached to the bit. Yes I usually have a halter on underneath. I only tie above the head so they can't rub the bit.
