The integrated mirrors I wired in and soldered to the stock turn signals that used to exist on the side of the bike (the real ugly ones that stuck out) and this allowed the mirrors to then blink and turn. Best bet is to lookup a wiring diagram for your bike, locate the turn signal wires, and patch into them. Soldering if possible would be best so you don't short out accidentally later.
All the aluminum accessories were found on eBay through a guy that custom makes them. They're much more sturdy and rigid than you would expect and he does a great job for the little price that he asks.
Sorry for the late reply. If you have any questions, you should join the FZR forum. Simply google FZR Forum and usually in the General section there will be a mods part with members that have contributed pictures and directions that lay out how to do a TON of mods for these bikes. That is where I learned to switch out the pegs also. I do want to say though from memory that I had to use a dremel tool to cut off the peg bolt in order to put the aftermarket one on. Hope that helps!
Thank you! The FZR has a lot of potential to look good, but I never saw anyone with one go in the right direction. They all seem to be treated like crap. Thus, I wanted to make this one stand out from the pack and have the focus revolve around the Delta Box frame and lines of the bike.
As for the integrated rear turn signal/brake light.....I found this on eBay through a distributor that had the LED light coupled with a circuit board that accounted for this feature that was built into the light (more pricey than the cheap generic LED lights...I wanna say about $60-$75, but worth the quality and feature of the item) As for wiring it in, this was tricky since the bike doesn't account for it well, so I had to experiment with wires until it worked. Keep spare fuses on hand.
It requires some welding in order to do it right since you need a bracket installed to support the weight of the rider seat on a part of the plastic. Since I did not have access to a welder, I simply did the seat chop carefully with a dremel tool. Although to be honest I would have preferred the R1 seat myself as it compliments the bike better IMO.
thats a nice bike, i just got 1990 fzr600r thursday. it needs new plugs as the ones that are in it are fouled, but other then that its in great shape. its got a barnett clutch and a D&D exhaust and its custom painted with the metallic yamaha blue. ill make a vid once i get a camera.
nice machine, its a legend, built from the genesis frame and loads of fun with plenty of upgrades i has one you should get one too. very very easy to work on, great on gas, still a eye opener for the ladies as well.
The Best FZR600 I've seen so far I have the 1991 UK model frame starts 3HE it's got the same rectangular headlight as you got but as your in the U.S.A there are many variations to the UK models. Do you know if I can put a 17 inch wheel on the back of mine to replace the 18 inch wheel that comes standard on my bike till 1993 and the tyres are now starting to get hard to get hold of in the 18 inch size but plenty about for the 17 inch size and I love the turn signals and brake light system AWESOME
Looking to do coil on plug cop and get rid of the coil. I did cop for my 82 honda magna . It works good. Magna Starts within 1 crank vs. 8 to 9 cranks sometimes run out of juice from long starting.
The headlight on video is the FZR600 frame starts 3HE (UK) only made from 1991 to 1992 as far as I can tell as I got the same rectangular headlight but I'm talking about the UK models. as in 89/90 the twin round headlights were on board then they changed the headlight in 1991 to the rectangular ones but a year later they changed their minds and put the twin round headlights back on and called them the foxeyes I know this as I wanted to put the twin round headlights on my bike, fairing in way
Currently working on customizing my 98' FZR 600R. Your bike looks great bro! I am impressed! Where is this guy on e-bay that makes the custom aluminum tho?
The flash and panache mean nothing to me. However, I am interested in the performance aspects of what you have there. I own a '99 FZR 600R. With recent issues regarding my wiring harness, putting braided coils on it all makes a shitload of sense. Also, I took note of your choice of 15w-50. This viscosity would be perfect for myself, as I live in Florida. I bought mine used, with 23k and some change miles on it. Do you happen to know the cost of a valve adjustment by chance? It needs it.
hi Austin i have a 1994 FZR 600 FOXEYE got it at a bargain price almost showroom condition with only 26k miles on her im looking to do most of the cosmetic mods you have done to yours i just have a few questions like where did you find your levers did you change the rear sets or just the foot pegs and where did you get the tail light and how did you mod your tail end any advice would be appreciated mate cheers jimmy
Hey Jimmy, the cosmetic mods ranged from vinyl that was applied to custom aluminum (such as faceplate, heel guards, etc.) The levers were generic and had to be modified with a dremel tool to account for FZR motorcycles not having a direct replacement lever set on the market (at least that I could find). You'll have to play around with a cheap $20-$30 set and modify accordingly. The rear pegs came as a set and were bolt on, the front rider set had to have the original pegs cut-off, then they could bolt on. Tail-lights were a Yamaha R-6 I believe and had to be dremel tooled into the existing body and were then wired with a generic brake alert system off of eBay, I think they go for around $30 or you can find a tail-light/braking system combo for close to $60. The custom aluminum was from a member in the FZR forum, that is a good place to look for a lot of these ideas and custom pieces that other members make and sell. Thanks for your interest!
Hey Everyone! Sorry it has been a while. I sold this bike a few years ago but would still like to answer questions that any of you may have. I saw some requests for what was done to the bike and will try to personally e-mail you with the parts list. BUT...if you click on SHOW MORE under description it should have the parts list here for the video. Anyway, thank you all for the appreciation on this bike. I love to customize bikes and cars and have put a lot of energy into my Lexus L-Tuned.
hey man, how much time you pent on this motocycle? whats overall cost of modifications? I has one from 1992 but looks like was used to not right things.. wanna make it look pro :)
...also, I hear tell of problems with the valve heads on the upper cylinder (I'm pretty sure it's upper-cylinder) going concave due to being made of a softer metal. Do you know if they have an aftermarket solution for this problem?
I got the same taillight cant seem to get the turns signals to not flash like hazards, done added in the resistors on the front and back wires, no hyper flashing so no need to chanhe relay i got all led lights now just need to figure this out so i can get to ride the last few weeks of the season
Also what kind of lights are u using and did u have to buy any additional things for it to work u mention u have the smart break system was that easy to install plug and play set up or hot wire?
You are correct! I didn't like how they looked hanging out sideways as drastic as they did, so I flipped them and it gave it a more "bat-like" look that I preferred. A five minute fix if you oppose the look though.
Could u show me how to change the pegs on yur bike? I just bought a 1996 Yamaha fzr600 and the peg is broken and not sure on how to remove the old piece that is left on and then replace
@donaldolivier I searched the forums at fzrarchives online and one other source and found him through the forums. I believe it was Mutton-something. However, I have noticed that he hasn't had the parts as readily available lately on eBay like they were so maybe he is going only through the forum now or has stopped. Either way, the forum would still be a good place to start and may still carry some of his stuff. I sold my FZR sadly :( so I haven't been up to date with everything lately.
Hi, What adjustable clutch lever did you use? did you have to adapt one form another model? i just bought a 95 fzr and cant locate adjustable levers for the 600 only for the 1000. Thanks.
I've just bought an fzr600 genesis and found that it doesnt have a thermostat in it and the fan has been over rid with a wire does anyone know if it's a common problem
Sir i hate to bother u but i just bought a 1995 FZR w a little over 7 thousand miles on it i got real lucky it is pretty clean and i only paid 1400 for it other than a battery and fuel pump the other day i went to start it and all it did was click click click sounds like its coming from under the seat where i am no bike mechanic i mean ill pay u for your opinion or make it right somehow anyway i know the electronics r there u have any idea thanx again Richard from PGH.
A lot of your electronics are housed in the tail and seat area. If your bike is clicking and won't turn over, test the starter, your battery (should be fully topped), make sure your connections are solid, all the basic stuff. This bike had a little over 40K miles on it, but was very easy to work on and still ran great. Your bike should be in better shape for sure.
Yeah too right I'm 6"3 and I'm way too tall for my bike I wish I was a bit shorter when riding my FZR600 as I get back ache due to being too tall it's better for the shorter person in my opinioin
