Every time Reese-Williams gave an answer, her body language was that of someone who was mean to be somewhere else and accidentally walked in to the UC studio.
I don't know if I can watch any more of these. They are generally an appalling reflection on university graduates if so very little general knowledge is present, let alone specialised knowledge; as well as no game strategy in terms of discussion and refusing to say 'pass'.
I guess it's just reality. Most of the details about that stuff gets lost in higher education if it's not your specific subject and even more in the spotlight of a TV camera.

Lol, the fan favs are out
Ooo that must sting
Spoiler Alert:
I was so rooting for Tom Scott and team to win! :(
York is king. How the hell did Hull grads beat York
the host sounds drunk, as a non-native speaker, I don't understand much
He has Parkinson's. He retired soon after this
@11:00 York winning by fifty points - won't watch the rest yet
I guess I wont spoil the rest for you then :P
Poor Paxman - sounds terrible
@Andrew Delaney
Trying his best was he ¿😀?
Sounds like the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut.

harrison bergeron full text.
Jeremy Paxman has said was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease after a doctor watching him on television shared his thoughts on his symptoms. Paxman announced he was diagnosed with the condition in 2021, and has since said he is stepping down from University Challenge after 30 years as the host.

A diversity hire is taking over soon.
Norbury is cute as ..
TOM SCOTT
The host is so dry
I wonder how much Tom Scott was paid to appear on this? 🤔
Probably nothing. This show isnt always about a cash prize, a lot of it has to do with prestige.
For the student show University Challenge didnt pay us anything so I presume it will be the same for the Christmas edition.
@@tybaltmacbeth I understand the student version is different because students have to apply for it, but surely on this show, they had to invite the contestants and convince them to go on, with some extra money and facilities paid for. The contestants on this show seemed to have been invited.
@@dee74raz Maybe. Hotels and trian tickets were paid for in the student show but idk much about this.
Oh welp
YOG SCOTT
What did the excited gardener do when spring finally came?
He wet his plants!
What do ghosts do at an amusement park?
A roller-coaster!
Where would you find flying rabbits?
In the Hare Force!
What happens when frogs park illegally?
They get toad away!
And what would you call two spiders that just got married?
Newly-webs!
hmm
they need to retire that presenter, he is so bad at reading the questions that it makes it difficult to answer. Yeh he was good but now he is incapable basically.
He has, this was his last year on the show
Paxman was literally a veteran in journalism and University Challenge. It makes the University Challenge iconic because of him. But yeah, he is retired.
york deserved to win, hull literally guessed 80% of their answers
I agree, Hull guessed a lot of their answers, were given a lot of questions that played to their knowledge and were very lucky that York lost a key player of for this important round of the show which may have seen them through.
Hull had 55% more points than York. How can you figure that York deserved to win. If Reese-Williams answers were guesses, at least they were educated and right.
guessing correctly counts just as much as really knowing for sure
Every time Reese-Williams gave an answer, her body language was that of someone who was mean to be somewhere else and accidentally walked in to the UC studio.
I don't know if I can watch any more of these. They are generally an appalling reflection on university graduates if so very little general knowledge is present, let alone specialised knowledge; as well as no game strategy in terms of discussion and refusing to say 'pass'.
I guess it's just reality. Most of the details about that stuff gets lost in higher education if it's not your specific subject and even more in the spotlight of a TV camera.
Don't watch then!
@Andrew Delaney I never said I could answer the questions! There are plenty I just keep quiet on, and others where I will make an educated guess. It's the long drawn-out chatter where no-one can even make a guess that I can't stand. By contrast I've been cheered by tonight's Oxford-Oxford semi-final. So maybe I spoke too soon!
@@acediscovery Glad I did. The next semi-final has been a complete contrast.
We've had several Covid questions crowbarred into this series, and now Pasteur, germ theory and vaccines.
Those should be general knowledge for most people.
The most boring team has won so far. I'm about to watch the finals. I do hope they do not win it, lol.
Have just given up watching. The ignorance is unbelievable. What did they learn at University, before and after?
