The comics medium has done more justice for Clive Barker's ideas than movies did.
@Terra Novei Clive Barker works best when not under jurisdiction from movie producers. Which is kinda sad because he has a lot of good original material that can become good live action film and television
Because I believe only the first two films are canon (or maybe just the first). The other films were not meant to be Hellraiser films, they were screenplays for other films that had the Hellraiser name stamped on later on.

It actually has been. Only the first two Hellraisers were actually Hellraiser films.
Nightbreed was like a friendly version of hell raiser to me
oddly it was banned in the UK for some time back in the late 80s/90s while hellraiser wasnt. i forget the reason.

Finally I have enough time to watch this, love anything from Clive Barker. Nightbreed is my absolute favorite.
I recently created a post about wanting a Nightbreed 2 or a Decker spinoff after the cliffhanger at the end. After a few conversations with folks on the post I was led here😳

I especially like "Jihad" because of how it depicts many of the main cenobites in the background. Great art style for sure.

The Nightbreed are very reminiscent of mutants and have intrigued me since I saw the movie.
Wouldn't think that they would stand much of a chance against the Ceno's.

I haven't watched the video yet but the Nightbreed that looks like a Minotaur is named after a basque Minotaur like creature. I love this story, and I really hope you do a good job explaining the Knight guy because I never really understood what was going on there.
Which Knight guy? You mean the cenobite?
EDIT: Sorry, I know who you mean now. I forgot all about him. I thought there was more info on him in the Hellraiser Wiki but it looks like a lot of pages are missing from it these days. I was gonna say that maybe this knight is connected to the knight from the comic who found a configuration during the crusade, but I can't even find info on him. Shit, I can't even find that cenobite who dealt with him, which sucks because he is one of the more interesting ones.
EDIT2: The cenobite is Grillard, and the knight was Count Carillion. The wiki really needs to be fixed up.
@@vovin8132 I read it, but I'm still confused. The knight is count Carillion after he was reincarnated? I don't remember seeing the cenobite in the comic. I just remember how unjust it felt when the knight guy was dragged to hell after he had sacrificed himself in the comic. On top of that, I had no idea why he was damned, or why he couldn't take the sacrament. I haven't read the other comics besides jihad
@@rickshawjones8591 Yeah I'm confused too. I thought there was more to him but I am not sure now. It has been a few years since I read through the comics. I highly recommend checking them out though, particularly the main series from the 1980s-90s (not the stupid 2000s one that tries to follow the films). There are many standalone stories and interesting characters to flesh out the series, if you know what I mean. The artwork is of varying quality, but most of it is like Jihad, which I like.
By the way, I wonder how many times I am triggering some government watchlist for saying "jihad" LOL

I read this a few years ago, it's very hard to find and absolutely worth it if you can, beautiful art, thrilling storyline, totally unique premise, utterly, gorgeously horrific
In your latest vid you said that you weren't getting much love for this one but I listened to it from start to finish and loved it. I've always loved both Hellraiser and Nightbreed and hope it was just a slow day and people give this one a listen!!

These are incredibly intensive. Two hours audio cut down to this 48 minute video, I love doing them, but if i did it regularly I think it would be soul destroying as no one really watches these longer videos
@@MrHReviews Well, you may not receive record numbers of views, but there is an audience for this (I among them), and I think it would help the overall appeal to the horror community to do episodes like this, at least occasionally, as it shows your genuine passion for these topics. Great stuff.

oh man i think i have a copy of this somewhere, shame the parade of shitty hellraiser (rights keeping) movies never bothered to look at the extended universe for inspiration.
The Nightbreed are chaotic with no order and the cenobites are chaotic with order I understand it now.
I'd love to see an extended hellraiser universe with all the different hells that exist. Probably be better as an anime

When I was 14-15 the Nightbreed movie had been out for a couple years, but I didn't really have any interest in watching it. My family had a camper at a seasonal site at a campground we had been going to every weekend from early spring to fall. My mother was a voracious reader, which while I also am now, I haven't been then.
She was one of those people that used to take several books out of the library weekly and would finish them all in a week. One weekend it was raining and I had nothing to do so I borrowed one of that week's batch, it was the book Nightbreed was based on: "Cabal." I finished it in a day, and loved it. I rented the movie after we got home. As it typically is the book was much better, but it made me enjoy the movie much more than I would have if I hadn't read it.
Are you practicing being a writer? I don’t mean to be a dick but you seem to have an unnecessary narrative and backstory jsut to say you read a book.

The original Cabal story is one of Barkers' best creations; underrated and a natural (in my opinion) fit for a Hellraiser cross-over.
Really there is so much incredible material from the Books of Blood that can be used to create new horror films/books/stories, it's just a great original source.
Clive Barker's ideas need the tv/streaming service treatment

Do you have the Night breed visual companion? It is a coffee table tome full of all the night breed in their costumes, with a few pages dedicated to their actors and how the make-up process created Peloquinn, for example. Kinski was always my favorite with his moon - face. Every character from the film was in the book. A must have.

with him changing and amending some of the words, it falls under creative licence i think so no licence needed dude unless u ment that h's voice is very calming, in which case i totally agree
