This sounds absolutely spectacular! Just fantastically awesome. If it would have turned out even half as wicked as it sounds it would have been a blood soaked epic. Its a tragedy no one had the brains or balls to produce it.
Michael Cairns oh it will, you cannot stop technology from changing and evolving. No matter what THEY will have to conform to the times just as they had to with Netflix.
@@capitalizingcapitalist1202 it's not the technological aspect that's the problem. It the Hollywood. They don't have the vision like the people who made the trailer. I love the idea they have! Maybe Netflix could make🤞
I was amazed by this when I first heard about it and followed it's production on facebook. I got the kickstarter artbook by Paul Gerrard and have a print from it on my wall too ;) Unfortunately they announced the 'official' remake by Clive Barker the day before the pitch was due to be launched, a remake that never materialised, so I can't help but think that they announced it purely to scupper the pitch. Couldn't agree with you more - they definitely need to do something like this to breath some new life into it.
Dimension films who was going to produce it demanded it to be "Teen Friendly" to capture a new audience lmao. So naturally everyone bailed. Now it's HBO that will make a series so i'm curious to see a trailer dropping at some point.
If this were to become cannon, then we as fans would have to assume that the Pinhead we come to know is more like the one from Hellraiser 3, where he is part Elliot Spencer and part dark entity or "a living embodiment of Spencer's ID". I actually like that, IF that is the case, as it gives Hellraiser 3 some more value. However if that is not the case then all the other Hellraisers have to be wiped from Cannon as we are lead to believe that Elliot Spencer is Pinhead and no Elliot Spencer no Pinhead. Where as Origins would suggest Pinhead was around before Elliot Spencer opened the box. As I stated on another post the timelines with Hellraiser movies don't always work. They suggest that Pinhead (from Elliot Spencer opening the box) appears and all of sudden he is top dog in hell and has a bunch of followers and even Angelique (who seems to be more of a dark entity with a human host) that has been around long before Spencer opened the box follows Pinhead. I think the Origins movie, from what you have told us, would add a great deal to the Hellraiser story (from the movie perspective) and tie the other movie (especially first 4) into the series rather well. It would just give everything more cohesiveness.
To me, origins suggested that the 'post' of pinhead may have been held by numerous entities throughout time, and that Elliot Spencer was simply the most recent incarnation. I quite like the idea of that because it gives the cenobites as an order an ancient history,
It would make sense considering that Cenobites don't remember their human lives. Could be that the "entity" known as Pinhead chose Elliot as a host, and all of the powers and reputation came with it.
I've been informed elsewhere that this is 'typical' CB approach ie. not confined 100% to previously established canon. Worst case scenario? JJ Abrams......!
To be completely honest, this would make an incredible gaming experience. I would absolutely invest in this if the right people were involved. Geiger, Barker, and a studio well established in this type of horror. Maybe a souls style... Best if it's unforgiving. Cenobite creation and evolution could be amazing as well. Perhaps one of Pinheads war party as the main character.
MoonBeamLaser Animation is just as expensive sometimes even more. More staff is involved with animation, it takes a lot more time to create and complete an animated movie and time is money.
I’d be SOFA KING chuffed to see a movie like this, especially if today’s visual effects technology were brought to it. It would be the Cronenberg ”The Fly” to the original “The Fly.” I always knew the Hellraiser mythos could be far more fantastical and epic than it was in the original movies: those fell because they dwelled too much in the humanosphere. I know the central philosophy of the series was to illustrate humans as truly monstrous, and the “monsters” cast as something more noble - a very Barkerian theme - but the humanocentric ethic of the films just led us into another hack-and-slashfest.
Origins fell because there is no "humanosphere." The Hellraiser serie fell to very bad writings and extremely low budgets. The Cenobites are twisted perv flesh carvers. Midian is where you get that Monsters are good and humans are bad feeling. But not in Hell. Actually, Cenobites are totally dehumanised. It's a bit lame to just see the monsters as better than humans. And it's been done to death ever since. And it is Not a typical Barker trait.
They should have you do the audio novel of it!! Your voice is up there with the greats like Vincent Price, Micheal Cain, Sean Connery. You are just way to pretty to let any one see you though! lol
I can totally see this being made with the budget of the first Scorpion King movie, or maybe one of the less crappy sequels. The treatment is insane in a good way.
I don't think we have a chance in hell of getting a Hellraiser movie with a $60 million budget. They would have to break well over $100 million to get in the green. As much as I love Hellraiser, I don't see them making a big investment like that.
This is epic! What a shame they haven't made this into a movie. I agree with Mr H, this is the ultimate reboot and I believe it would open a labyrinth that needs to be explored in more grisly detail
This is great but it misses the point. The fun of Hellraiser is that most of the mystery is implied. You don't know what Leviathan is but you can guess. You don't know what a Cenobite does but you can tell that you won't like that you'll eventually like it if you become one, and how your paradigm would have to shift to make that happen. This is cool mythology stuff but it's a tabletop game, not a Hellraiser reboot. Hellraiser movies are intimate, individual, and close enough to be carnal.
I remember watching the pitch video for the first time and getting all tingly, still does it to me. Thanks for the video Mr. H. I look forward to more on this from you.
This sadly reminds me of the Del Toro Mountains of Madness film. Its just too expensive to make. But I feel that movies like this NEED to be made. It could change horror films entirely, and bring us a renaissance of new highly expensive, high quality films.
OMG OMG OMG I wish they would make this movie! It seems like a combination of Scarlet Gospels and some of the best associated side stories. This would have been fantastic, though Pinhead looking for his family is a little weird.
Man they should make this movie it shouldn't make a Hellraiser reboot to be like this yeah I better that Hellraiser Origins teaser it's really as far as I kind of like to see that happen
It would be one hell of a way to breathe new life in. I love the origins idea. Each scene would be gorgeous and it's own allegory yet equally horrifying but not over the top in a campy way. I'd love to see that. It'd probably stick with me for 15+ years just like the first time J-Lo went into his DreamWorld and witnessed his trophy rooms 😳

i want to see a hellraiser movie, where the cenobites just go along their everyday lives. washing their blody clothes, going to work, doing their taxes, being good parents...
Out of all of the classic horror franchises, Hellraiser is the most tragic to me. There's so much potential with this story, but instead hollywood opts to basically keep doing the same thing.
I like it a lot. Its the same sort of in-genre shift that happened between Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. It would be a bastard to script though, let alone get filmed.
It kills me that everything after 3 really felt like a different movie, it wasn't so focused and it was always 'out of it's own way' in a sense .. It just felt like any movie with occasional cenobites but we never knew anything about them other than they were in the movie .. I think Clive has a masterful way of forming our imaginations into worlds of pleasure and pain. It's actually deeply frustrating that we're seeing the 'third' Halloween 2 but we're not getting an origin story that actually looks interesting. I mean right up until 'What is your pleasure sir?' it makes sense. History repeats itself .. But, I'm not happy with all these fucking remakes shitting on the reputation of the original. It underplays movies that have come before and it guarantees sheer predictable monotony from any prequels, sequels in addition to these new 'remakes' or 'reboots'. I mean this has serious potential, it would gain a whole new audience in this day and age .. Hell, it could even expand further and fix the franchise from a very sporadic endeavor to a much more consistent one. Maybe it could even go further into cenobites of the first movie, I mean chatterer was cool as fuck.
Honestly, I love the setting and the aesthetics, but not the plot or narrative concept. Sounds more like a war movie with BDSM window dressing. And there's very little to characterize the cenobites to the point where we're familiar with them. I kinda hate the idea that the cenobites are trapped *inside* the box rather than it being a doorway of sorts to their dimension imho. Making Pinhead a sympathetic protagonist with a family and grappling with loss is also a big No in my book. The less you know about characters like him, the more effective they are.
Not only expensive, but a little low concept. It's hard to bring that much new information to an audience in under two hours. Studios are already wary of the concept because of the BDSM aspect, adding magic and other aspects overcomplicates it for them.
The cenobites didn’t have family because they are void of emotion. Their human counterparts had families but the process of making them cenobites meant they were no longer tethered to their human existence. Pinhead by definition wouldn’t care if his wife and daughter were taken unless he was in his human form or growing weak (which is uncharacteristic). As a matter of fact when he was face to face with his daughter Joey in Hellraiser lll, this is exactly how it played out. In the Scarlet Gospels book The Hell Priest (Pinhead’s true name) is as a powerful ruthless mid level demon that was looking to level up and was killing true practitioners of magic to steal it and become even more powerful. Using his power he murdered his way through hell to get to Lucifer in his quest for power. This deviates from Barker’s vision for this character. The story is actually superior to this one and broken up into two or three movies would be epic.
If there was ANY title I was wanting in addition to the first and second movies (also, Bloodlines) it was Origins. Why did they scuttle what appeared to be the most intriguing Hellraiser movie ever?
hellraiser origins looks about as deep as a mortal kombat fan fiction story. It is easy to see why this would never be funded / realized. The essence of Clive's work has been reduced to the most shallow interpretation of the original idea. Having pinhead as a central character to the story is a great idea for a terrible movie. Originally themes and ideas from the other dimension were thought provoking, alien and abstract to humans...now they are simple cliches a 10 year old could understand from a videogame ...all meaning of the original concept has died a long time ago and nobody who has any real understanding of the genius behind Clive's idea has the resources to bring it to the screen in a meaningful way.
Im so pissed this may never happen now. Like it reminds me so much of two of my favorite game franchises of all time “Doom” and “Silent Hill) that I instantly started to liking it knowing that it’d take place in Hell. Like i see the way Hell being set up would be really similar to the one in Doom with the look and inhabitants of Silent Hill. Seems something really different, but also a good one unlike most that would actually make good enough sense to the classic Hellraiser movies.
So sad Hollywood is so stuck up in their last own horror movies that seem to be the same, when there are masterpieces like this with a great script and never seen worlds so terrifying like hellraiser, we all should sign a petition to bring this to life. Create a new genre and bring back the cenobites instead of ghosts and serial killers. Mr. H, please help us bring this to life and let’s create a petition for this movie.!
This sounds like something that could’ve been epic, horrifying, and disturbing. It’s a shame that no studio went for this pitch. At least some great concept art came from this though. 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm less that 5 minutes in and I can't help but think... Why. The. Fuck. Didn't. This. Get. Made? Netflix? and/or Amazon? They've got the $$$ and are looking for interesting original content.
I agree with you it would be awesome if they could do that
Not only did I hear that but I saw it in my mind!!!
I would love to see Mr.H as the new Hell Priest (Pinhead)
Since Hellraiser movies are in limbo is there anything happening with Clive Barker's Tortured Souls?
So sad Hollywood is so stuck up in their last own horror movies that seem to be the same, when there are masterpieces like this with a great script and never seen worlds so terrifying like hellraiser, we all should sign a petition to bring this to life. Create a new genre and bring back the cenobites instead of ghosts and serial killers. Mr. H, please help us bring this to life and let’s create a petition for this movie.!
This would have been a good horror action film, more horror of course.
Well at least we’re getting a new hell raiser now
Awesome story line
Shame, sounds like this would be a really good Hellraiser film... Gods know we need more of those 😜
The ideas and concepts will live on .
"There are no origins, only flesh and the patterns to which we submit it "
Remarkable. Love your presentation.
I subscribed to your channel after this. Superb.
That plot synopsis sounds better than 90% of the shit that gets$20 million budgets these days.
God damn I still watch that video every time I get drunk.
This sounds like something that could’ve been epic, horrifying, and disturbing. It’s a shame that no studio went for this pitch. At least some great concept art came from this though. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thats how previous Hellraisers shouldve been. Horrifying and really disturbing
@@Watcher4111 exactly. Instead, the franchise became a stagnant mess.
That voice was hilarious.
I'm less that 5 minutes in and I can't help but think... Why. The. Fuck. Didn't. This. Get. Made? Netflix? and/or Amazon? They've got the $$$ and are looking for interesting original content. This won't get done through the traditional studio system. I could see the Tortured Souls possibly fitting into this...
I agree that your narration makes this. But what you may not know is that you sound much like the person who did do the audiobook of The Damnation Game.
This would've been awesome. A Hellraiser film taking place in a era or world not like our own. I wouldn't mind a film in the Primordial world.
Very intriguing indeed, I enjoyed listening to that. If only that vision had become reality as a movie.
