I’m chronically ill with multiple things some invisible and some things still undiagnosed, after lots of time being gaslit by loved ones and physicians then having proof it was a very real thing that hasn’t went away yet … I grow tempted to be bitter, to mourn my life and what it could have been if I were healed, bargaining with Lord “if you heal me I can do x y and z for you” or feeling like Job asking why? every young person I meet is thriving while I in my early 20s struggle to do normal things … yet blessed is the thorn which brings me back to Lord. St. Benedict Joseph librae said “courage for illness is greater grace than health for many saints have desired to suffer what the ill do” maybe I won’t be a missionary or a husband or a father or a priests maybe the most I’ll do smile to a stranger and pray for them in thought maybe all the “honor” of what I do here will be given to me privately by God himself. I don’t like this path or this particular cross it’s lonely, hard, & uncommon for most in the especially in the west but it’s mine. So until I push daisies … Viva Cristo Rey

Great homily Father Mike. As a young woman dealing with a chronic mostly invisible and often brushed off illness it’s hard to make sense of why this is happening to me on the harder days. I was a very healthy, hardworking, and intelligent person, who now spends many days struggling with fatigue, brain fog, and memory issues. I don’t understand why this has happened to me, but I continue to trust in the Lord.

Me, too. I pray now that I can glorify Him, in my weakness. I've been hoping there was a lesson to learn, and I could just learn it, and move on. That doesn't seem to be happening, so now I will glorify Him more, in everything. Blessings!!

I struggle with various, toll inducing mental illnesses. Today I was in serious withdrawal of my meds they took me off too soon. This message was for both of us 💜💜

A great reminder that being perfect or better than others is not the thing that gets us close to God, but we can glorify God through our imperfections and how we deal with them. Through our faith and efforts, we can inspire others. Great analogy of the candles and also a great example of St. Paul (When we are weak, we are strong) and of Saint with eating disorder. Thank you Father Mike I’m grateful for todays Homily. I’m 26 bedbound with a rare spinal/brain disease. It’s been 3 years and my condition continues to get worse. I had my appointment recently with bad news. Please pray for me that I may continue to trust in God.

Thank you father! I was praying so hard to get an answer and I thought that God is not hearing my prayers anymore until I find this homily and everything was more clear and I finally get it. Lately I have been struggling with my faith but as of recent I’ve been trying to make an effort to get to Sunday mass and I have been but I do get a bit procrastinated on going to mass and I am trying to get back into it to make it to mass every Sunday. As security officer it hard to do so because scheduling and I am writing this I am on a shift right now and usually go to mass in the morning at 11:15 and I am bit sad that I wont be able to make But I am happy that Fr. Mike does an online mass and that I have others ways to be part of a mass! You have been a big inspiration Fr. Mike ever since I was In high school. I hope to one day meet you in person!!

Hi, I just want to help share some advice in regards to your spouse's heart and sleep issues. Please read or listen to these books: Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. There's life changing evidence about nutrition and lifestyle habits there, and many success stories online that can provide encouragement. This info has helped me and my loved ones get healthier. Please pray for me. Im battling alcohol and drug addiction that I’ve almost beat!! I relapsed last night but each time I do I go longer without every time I love you Jesus Christ and thank you Mike for the mass
Don't do it for yourself. Do it for us. We need you in this world. Don't let us down.
I gave up drinking it was poison for me and ruined many things in my life. I wasn’t an alcoholic just a severe social drinker. I just gave it up one day after asking Jesus to help me and never looked back. You will be happier and healthier if you do it. Don’t succumb to this world and don’t associate with drinkers. Drinking never solves anything just makes things worse. Good luck and blessings🙏

Since the ago of 9 I dealt with invisible pain… by the age of 16 surgery for endometriosis. I was gifted one child as a prayer baby at the age of 36. Now, at the age of 54, I have survived an emergent hysterectomy due to endometriosis. My pain has been removed… I was in the hands of an amazing surgeon. I am forever grateful that I was given the Grace to live life… even in pain. Now… I have peace and compassion for those who have pain because I survived.

I have eye problems and arthritis! But every morning I wake up I thank God that I can see and for my feet he gave me! I pray that He remembers those who cannot see at all and those who can't walk!

Yet another profound sermon Fr Mike. We are all dealing with things that require God’s healing and we become frustrated when our prayers are not answered as we want.
It is a failing I have. Glorifying Jesus in our broken state takes effort and contemplation is difficult but Jesus promised that we will always “have enough “

I am just coming to the catholic faith and in the last few months my eyes have been opened so much and this service wow what a blessing thank you father Mike for all that you do to shine a light on Jesus, you’ve shown me that during my illness and going to Dr after Dr and not getting better but worse that I need to be glorifying Jesus and giving him praise and thanks I’m sorry to say I lost sight of that

Dealing with a chronic illness😢 Everyday I ask God to take this illness and everyday Im disappointed. 😢 I cant say that it's because I dont have faith because I do know that God still heals. It makes me sad, depressed, and bitter that He will not heal me. Thank you Fr Mike. Im not Catholic but your mass helps me to get through the bad days.

I pray for my fiance Jerry for his renewal of his travel certificate so the Turkish immigration will allowed him to board on plane to go back home safe here in California USA to recover and healing from his hip replacement surgery its been 2 months ago I pray for his safe travel and protection day abd night good health always and our relationship to be strong and lived peacefully and happily , for better for worse for richer or poorer in sickness and in health until death do us part this I asked

This homily was so meaningful to me. Even though I have no physical hardships, I am plagued with feelings that I am not as capable as my other friends. This homily makes so much sense, especially the example of the candles. We all have different gifts, and we are all God’s children whom God takes care of.

If I had listened to the many doctors who I've seen, I would be without part of a foot and without a thyroid. And, although I've allowed surgeons to remove other body parts previously, those two times I had a profound feeling that God would heal my issues, and He did. I still have several chronic health problems, for which I pray for healing, but whatever is the outcome praise be Jesus. Thank you, Fr. Mike, for a wonderful and meaningful sermon!
likewise, as a nurse & disabled patient..I had to save many lives from doctors, imcludimg my own (sorry, key missing). Healing comes also from time amd hard work with he chamges necessary. There is more out there than mainstream gaslighting. I died at their neglectful hands, and quite a bit of ptsd but I offer that up for others and I know He used this to bring me back to Him..I was drifting.
