Artisan Guitars is an A++ store. I live on the West Coast, and have purchased several guitars and an amp from them. They're pure class, with top notch product knowledge.
I’d could play and live with either of those dreadnoughts. Love your presentation’s and playing as always. The recording quality really shows the nuances of what these guitars are capable of. 🎧
The D2H A sounds the best to my ears and I love the warmer sound on the top end. I have a guitar with a little more shimmer on the top end and it is good for some things. If I am playing and singing in a solo setting the warmer the better. The dynamic range on these is stunning and they sound wonderful and different depending on how hard you pick and such. Btw, your playing in this video was exceptional and I really enjoy the stuff you played with the third guitar you presented. Good quality entertainment for the whole family! 😂😆
Every one of these guitars sound amazing. Collings makes some beautiful, consistently great sounding guitars. Their prices can be high but, as far as high-end builders go, they are easily justified.
Beautiful guitars and playing! I'd be happy with any of them, but the Adirondack and Sitka stood out to me with the bell-like tone of flat picked chords. But, my guess is if I heard them all in person, I'd be torn between the three of them. Great noodling! Great guitar playing. Thank you!
@Steve B.. Yes I live in Texas and would love to be able to have a Texas-made Collings guitar! Alas, all I need is more $. I’ve seen Collings guitars in person and the fit and finish on them is second to NONE!
And I daydream of them often - was able to play one for a few minutes or so, very impressed! I'm retired now and my buying days are over, even for used guitars. Very happy for Collings owners.
Wondering what the difference is between the 4th one 'T' and the other 3. I love the 3rd one I think... Nice video, many thanks, greetings from Austria
Thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful and very interesting - not easy to have all of them side by side! I'm a Collings fan and sometimes I used to miss the OM2HG that I sold when I bought an OM2H-MRA (three years ago), but the addy top is getting lusher and sweeter as time goes by - so much so that I don't miss the German anymore :)
To my ears Collings and H&D guitars sound the most musical and pleasing. More so than Martins. Have y ou done a comparison video between a Husss & Dalton TD-R vs Martain 00028? What makes a H&D or Collings (or Stana Cruz) sound " better" (subjective0 ? Is it usually in the bracing pattern? Lots of makers use Sitka, Adirondack, a few use German Spruce....oddly no one useds the wood used in Strad vidoln's for guitars....funy enough it IS used in 2 hi-end grand piano brands Fazioli and C. Bechstein.
Honestly I like the A more and I'm not a blue grass flat picker. Sounds so dam good. And the highs sound warmer. The German sounded a little metallic. Sitka was nice

Thank you so much! We appreciate the kind words!
I wish I lived in the states just so I could buy from them - I’m English.
Perhaps your best review of all time, worth multiple views. Well done!
They all sound sooo good. Even the sitka is really nice but the red spruce…wow!
Simply the best sounding guitars in the world
Incredible guitars are these Collings. Some tasty playing going on there also. Dreaming of a new Collings guitar someday.
Very nice review and what a selection there! It would sure be nice to sit in a room like that and play but this will sure do for now. Thanks!

Sitka sounds the most familiar, the most like home. But that adirondack has so much range, it's hard not to notice.

That third guitar sounded best to me, but they all sound great. (Excellent playing, BTW.)
The German top sounds the best to me! I love how lush it sounds! The overtones are most pronounced!
I heard the same...
& The German Top had noticeably the the most pronounced bass of the bunch..

I think I'd only be able to distinguish the differences if I played them . Great sound and playing!
How come you guys only carry Maton now?
what brand and gauge strings on the first guitar in the video?
Hey Alex, yes, these are D'Addario EJ-17s 13 gauge!
Gotta love Collings guitars

Do all kind of spruce tops adapt to your playing or is this some sitka phenomenon only?
The most incredible acoustic guitars on the planet. I can only dream of having one.
Dream Until your Dreams come True!!!
They are truly phenomenal

That's great to hear. We love doing these videos and helping to highlight the differences. More to come soon!
can i ask what picks you use? thanks :)
He's using a Fender medium celluloid pick. Thanks for asking!

2021 TDR here. purchased on the spot.
The German top is the best sounding to my ears!!!
Let’s face it; they all sound incredible. Any would do me 😃
Amazing guitars
Very good comparison, I wouldn’t turn any of them down
The two Adirondack top guitars sounded best to my ears. All 4 were fantastic though.
Honestly I like the A more and I'm not a blue grass flat picker. Sounds so dam good. And the highs sound warmer. The German sounded a little metallic. Sitka was nice
Sitka for me
Guess you guys dont sell collings guitars anymore...
D2HG for me
What strings are you using gauge brand etc tks
The larger body Collings like the D2Hs are strung with D'addario EJ17 .13s and smaller bodies have EJ16s

Engelmann is not a European spruce.
😎
All great but sitka for me brings me home.
Andarandoc sounds best to me, and great playing. I hate the youtube videos where the show caser just plays the same boring acoustic progressions.

you couldn’t go wrong with any of their dreadnoughts, or any of their other guitars, lol
I like engelman spruce sound boards.
