If you are gonna make this a whole series on this channel, I hope it does very well.
I always enjoy me a good armour evaluation/analysis, are you gonna do a weapons/tools version?

I would love it, if you gave the armour from Exanima an evaluation.
IIRC, you didn't enjoy the combat so much, but I adore the hell out of the game, I currently have 5,947 hours in it.
I got it in the middle of May in 2017, after Skall gave it a recommendation.

Use your community tab to allow us to help you to increase the number of your subscriptions. Run a poll or something and allow comments. That should help quite a bit, IIRC from the few channels on this very subject. I hope it still helps, anyway.

Matt Easton actually talked about heater shields pretty recently. He wasn't able to wear his shield with his asymmetric Italian full plate and has hypothesized in the age of plate armor they started using boss gripped heater shields.

Ah yes I watched that video. It's an interesting hypothesis, but I'm not sure if it's validated by iconography.

@TheProtectorate-yq7vi yeah, I'm skeptical about it. It's a fascinating idea though and may explain why we start seeing bosses in late medieval art.
Or at least I think they start showing up. I only started getting into medieval weapons fairly recently so I'm not positive.

I can see the extra rim reinforcement in that universe being plausible. Especially while fighting particularly large and strong enemies with massive weapons that could cleave straight through the rim and render the shields useless.

I've been playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time again, it is my favorite game of all time.
Would love to see video about armor and swords in that game, especially Prince's "sword upgrades" and whether of not those have any corner of realism to them. I know the game is mostly fantasy but so much of the enviroments have some resemblens of realism even though they are parkour obstacle courses, I keep thinking that the order of weapon upgrades have some thread of realism to explain why one sword is concidered more powerful than another...well maybe except the last one, that is magic but still xDD

13:07 That shield looks wooden, though. Otherwise surely arrows wouldn't stick in it like that. The rims of the holes surely also aren't just shredded arrow wood. That wouldn't be quite physically accurate.

Always cool to see an analysis on practicality and historical parallels of armor and such in games. Are you acquainted with the Fate franchise? While its illustrations and character designs are not very historically accurate to say the least, it does depict a lot of historical, literary and mithologic figures. Would be cool to see you cover either armor analysis or depictions of characters that pique your interest, whether for good or bad reasons.

Talking about shields, there was a peculiar italian shield called targone that was only used in the Pisa bridgefights, and was meant to be used as bludgeon and knuckleduster.

its sad what they did to the remake, they changed so much from the original. Designs, to music, to atmosphere etc. very unfortunate. Atleast the original video game is always here

Always nice to see a video from this channel.
Also, love the fact that the helm is present in the remake. You get the best of both worlds.

genuinely surprised you found iconography with that way of holding a shield. 0_0

Metatron, take a look at an old Playstation 1 game called "Tenchu: Stealth Assassins." Really fun game from my childhood!

Ratatoskr made a good video about how the remake makes "questionable" design choices in how they change some visual elements, which make things either more "generic" or completely miss the entire purpose of the original design, thinking it isn't important.
And that's what the Remake feels like: It tried too hard to patch the "uncool" stuff, but there's a reason the most iconic parts about Demon's Souls are not traditionally "bad ass" looking.

Demon's Souls really was a great game. I had as much fun trying to assemble a story from the bits of lore you picked up along the way as I did actually playing the game.
Though I do admit I sucked at the game. I absolutely sucked up a storm playing it. But trying to get to that next little tidbit of lore kept me at it. Seeing this kind of makes me want to go dig up my PS3 and give it another whirl. And probably suck even more. Lol...
