bmw e92 325d cold start problem, bad idle and vibration

- Here is my bmw e92 lci 325d n57, I’ve owned the car a few weeks now and every time I start it cold the cabin vibrates and the idle is lumpy the revs jump for around 2 mins until the car gets warm, sometimes it’s worse than this, I had it on a diagnostic and it said the glow control module was at fault so I changed it and 5 glowplugs ( cylinder 3 was seized ) and it still persists what do you think it could be ? Injectors ? The seized plug ? Glow plug wiring ? Fuel filter ? Battery ( only cause it threw up a fault and it was 38% ) any suggestions or help would be much appreciated thanks
Hi, I have the same problem with an e91 325s. Cold start... I don't have EGR in my car, nor do I have swirl flaps. I changed the glow plugs today, so hopefully it will be fine tomorrow, otherwise it's the injectors.

Check your injectors at cold engine!
Had the same simptoms , solved it after change al 6 glowplugs and the glowplug module
I have this but not as bad. I've had new glow plugs and module aswell as new intake. Egr is deleted had a new turbo aswell as chain. Still baffles me

I’ve got the same problem on 330d n57 it’s only on a cold start so first thing in the morning but when warm it’s fine could this still be the egr?
Check your errors for glow plug errors. That is the most likely cause of cold start problems. If it's not that you can continue looking.
It's probably damaged glow plug control module. Beru GSE108, or only glow plug, but i don't think so.
I have this same problem on my 330d did you find a fix?
got a N53 325i with the same issue, people have been suggesting it might be the coils and/or the spark plugs... I'll go to BMW early September and probably come back with an update, leave a reply so I get notified and not forget about it..
Fingers crossed it's not the injectors as that'd cripple me lol
Thanks for the reply, I still have the issue, it’s going in the garage this week for swirlflaps so maybe that might solve it, I changed all glowplugs and the module because that’s what the fault checker found but it didn’t solve it, good luck mate let me know how you get on

It was the egr and it had a swirlflap problem

I also have a 3.0 325d e92, ive done glow plugs and the module, but still getting cold start rough idle until i rev it for about 5 seconds, then it clears. Can I ask what the issue with egr valve was? And how it was actually resolved? Ive got no swirl flaps as mine is a manual. Merry crimbo!!
Nck1 glk hi mate no way lol, the video didn’t do mine justice, sometimes the cold start was way worse than this, the egr valve was just covered in gunk it was too much that the mechanic couldn’t clean it so it had a new one and also the manifold was cleaned too because that was covered, Hope this helps ! In my case my diagnostic tool (ELM327) did not say anything but EGR stuck open or closed. I took the EGR out and cleaned it, but nothing changed (it was a lot cleaner that expected).
Then with another diagnostics tool I got a faulty glow plug number 1 error code. I did not take any further actions so far regarding the glow plugs nor their control module.
Have you fixed the issue? how?
i got the same problem cant even seat inside the car its shake as hell
had same problem with my bmw f07 i change glowplug module but dose not solve the problem when i hade on diagnostic my diesel injector number 3 dose not work properly after car is worm up its work fine

Check your map sensor
happy new year friends !! I have the same problem.The cold start fails, a few seconds, as if it were an injector. After a few seconds or speed up a bit everything returns to normal and the engine sounds perfect during the day.
A few months ago I had a similar fault, but I got an EGR fault code, I changed the EGR for a new one but the fault has reappeared. I have reprogrammed DME and partially closed the EGR but the fault remains the same. I thought about the chain, but then no noises in hot. Is the intake manifold possible?

Joan Fusté hi mate if your car is running fine after it’s warmed up it won’t be injectors, maybe the glow control module ? And check your manifold mine was coked up, hope this helps 👍

I have identical issue on my 2011 325d n57.
Changed the glow plug controller and glow plugs - had error codes for those.
Egr is dead so I've blanked it out and its due for a remap in 3 days.
I also took out swirl flaps and cleaned the manifold - which was surprisingly very clean for a 90K miles car?!
Unfortunately im still getting this rough idle just like yours - im hoping it's due to lack of egr at the moment and mapping will fix it 🤞
Hi mate sorry to hear that, your doing all the right things though ! Hopefully it will fix the issue, I’ve also heard a fuel filter that hasn’t been changed can cause this also !

Did full service inc filters so can cross that one off 😉
I know it was a long time ago but in your case - did you get rid of this issue? Did fitting new egr solved it? Aprishiate the advise 👍
Check your boost control solenoid or change it for a new 1 I’m also due an egr delete on my N57 330d E90 and inlet clean.

They do I've got swirlflaps on my 2008 325d.
All 325d with m57 didnt have them
