Barbara Bonney is one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. With over 100 recordings to her name, her artistry has been documented for generations of singers to come. Her Sophie (Rosenkavalier) is legendary the world over, as are her Mozart roles of Susanna (Figaro), Parmina (Zauberflote). Ms. Bonney devoted much of her 30 year career to Lieder, and continues to sing Lied-Recitals and Orchestral Concerts. She is a devoted mentor of the new-generation-singer, and is currently Professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, as well as guest professor of the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Did you know that BB recorded this song in one take without rehearsal? So what we're hearing is the true unadulterated version of BB singing Dido's lament. BB is extraordinary musician/singer, her voice will belong to the ages.
Fantastic. Too many people read Baroque music as systematic, precise and static. This brings the music out of it! Fabulous!

When hearing to Miss Bonney, I tend to beleive that God himself dictated this music to Purcell as tradition often says...her angel voice really touches my most inner sensible fibers. Thanks for helping me rediscover myself.Thanks for sharing this jewell with all us!!!!
