Been mobile 6 months now. Welding everything from recliner chair brackets to excavator arms. I don't pass anything up I think I can do and get paid. customer base Is big deal 1 job could lead to 10 just never know.
@@Hardstyler981I use my personal truck and purchased a miller bobcat 250 used. already had most the hand tools required and mig welder for smaller jobs.
@@Hardstyler981 As far as customer's go I printed 500 business cards started passing them out to local companies in my area started a Facebook page and purchased ads on Google.
@@MatanicFabrications It was hit or miss the first 90 days then then it took off. I do fine since I don't have a truck payment or much over head at thus point just consumables and matenince.
As a small engine mechanic, you are absolutely right about quoting the type of job, where, time ,parts and even taking consideration other shops around the area. Everything counts
Awesome video man! Your definitely right about charging differently depending on the scenario! If people are taking your first price right away without even taking time to thinking about it then your too cheap!
Yupp 5 hour minimum @ 100.00 an hour.im upfront about my rates. After awhile you'll have the right ppl calling you and the people that aren't about it know to call somebody else.
My co worker tried to run a lincoln mp210 on an inverter generator and it fried the internal circuit board. My recommendation is dont use an inverter generator. I run my yeswelder 205 on a dewalt portable generator.
What do you do if they don’t pay you? I’m interested in learning to weld. I have 0 experience. And applied at a school and start welding classes soon. Eventually I do want to get to do my own mobile welding side job. So I’m asking for future reasons.
Hey brotha what advice can you give me I’m 20 gonna get my welding certificate in May and don’t like living in Illinois and I wanna move to Texas in about 2 to 3 years after graduation any advice would be great 💪
Damn bro, I wanna get a rig like any of those, shiii. It just took me a year to buy all the welding stuff even the tank, I’m gonna teach myself, tired of making shit money
Hey man, what is the most versatile welding machine for mobile welding that is good for all types of jobs? I'm gonna be graduating with my welding degree and plan on having my own business at some point after getting some real experience in different welding fields.
Try to land a job first that does straight welding all day, you know, burn time. Get that technique down. I worked at a place where it was doing many many different products, it was always a different product to weld every day or every few days, and it was up to 500 of that product, just doing the same thing over and over, repetition you know? My welding skill skyrocketed from what I was taught in class. Class just can't provide you the burn time. Just class time. ya dig?
Used Bobcat 225, Ranger 250, or hobart machine of a similar size. If you can't afford that, the smaller generator sized engine drive welders can get you by but you'll want to save for a bigger engine drive machine eventually
@jeremiahkastner6374 I appreciate the feedback. I'm still in school but had a shop welding job for 1 year. Plus some other field jobs. Hopefully gonna land a TIG pipe jobs soon

Invest in a blower for confined spaces if you're welding in a place like the water tanks. Very much worth the investment.
