Ken Rose of Hero Jr and Orange Amps - OR50 Head

- Orange Ambassador Ken Rose discusses his love of the now discontinued OR50 guitar head. For more about the OR50 visit orangeamps.com/products/guita...
Featuring a traditional single channel layout, 50 Watts of output and a three stage gain section, the real weapon in the OR50H’s arsenal is the HF Drive control. As the HF Drive increases, so does power amp presence. Beyond 3 0’clock, this control introduces an extra dimension of power amp gain for serious scream. Combined with an intricate midrange, the OR50H goes from dark and gritty, to rich and smooth, and features a footswitchable master volume defeat to boost for leads.

Catches my personality which is awesome… dude has a healthy self esteem
The best demo of this head from Orange comes out 4 years after its release... tight bros.
cheers.
Thanks for the kind words. In this demo I am bypassing all my pedals and on the band clips I do not have any effects on. I am using a 1970 Les Paul with Gibson T top humbuckers. I get a lot of dirt when I solo with the neck pickup. This amp is amazing when it comes to translating my style. Theres more live stuff on www.herojrmusic.com On some of that I use a vintage Russian Big Muff. I just got an Earthquaker Devices HoofReaper and I can't wait to test it in my rig. Cheers.
HoofReaper gone. Avalanche Run in for a song or 2....Not sure anything can touch this Muff.... Will be adding a 50w Rockerverb III to the rig along side the OR50H.... Lets see....
Hey! Thanks Ken. It's EarthQuaker day. I use a Wren an Cuff Violet World on the OR100 and it just kills it. I had a Tomkat Violet Muffer that also ruled. Thinking about getting a HotCake to push it a little bit. Every mucked around with a treble booster?
Those guys rock. I just started working with them. The Avalanche Run kills. Its not a full on Hero Jr. pedal but for sessions and film stuff its amazing. It's going on my new board.
I'm buying this amp tomorrow and researching videos and this is awesome and I checked your band out and you're all amazing. Cheers 🍻... Cheers to ORANGE OR 50
This amp and Ken’s playing sound amazing! I’ve heard him live and he always sounds great!!
Thanks James.
please reissue this amazing amp. That and the OR100.
Bad ass! I'm digging the playthrough/demonstration of the amp as well as the settings added. Much more insightful than just "hey I got this amp. It's pretty cool...yeah" type videos.
ORANGE FTW!!
Cheers.
Hey...I got this amp. It is pretty cool....
Got this amp in Amplitube and loving it
Got to meet this guy at a show once. Super nice guy and great guitarist.
Thanks dude.
Great !!
Nice!!!
I demoed this amp. It's not for home use or clean tones. Total rock n' roll beast.
Hasent orange been builing a or50 for a long while ? I know the custom 50d was released awhile back nit, i thouth the or50 has been around for some time.
The amp is cool, but..
The sound of the drums just AWESOME!...
ESPECIALLY snare - SO musical and tasty frequencys...
VERY beautiful sound of the drums, especially snare...
Does this mean a reissue is coming? Kinda mean to tease us with this great demo and not re release the thing. This is the closest you can get to a vintage OR120 without spending over $2000 and it's amazing.
They posted about another band that has a ton of ORs in their Facebook and now I see this so I'm wondering the same thing!!
So frustrating how poorly marketed this amp was when it was available. Now we have the OR30 which is not even close.
Why aren’t you making this amp any longer Orange ?!?
It has the same circuity as orange custom shop 50 which is still available.
@@peterhubek Are you sure about that? I don't think they are the same circuit and the CS is a $3000 USD.
@@nottymyname7192 I'm not sure about the transformers/tubes quality, they affect the sound as well. But based on the schematic of the OR50 available on the internet, it's more or less the same circiut as the current CS50 line up. The sound is very close, I don't hear any difference.
@@peterhubek interesting. I figured the CS50 would be more like the AD50 and Retro 50. Those do sound different than the OR50.
I have an Oranger OR-80
bought new in 1976
it's not been reliable
thus the down rating to 50 Watts
?
This isn’t even close to being the same as an OR80. It’s voiced like an older Orange head but it’s built like a modified Bassman.
