A lot of the same books on our list this year! Amos Fortune, Witch of Blackbird Pond, Huegenot Garden, Cricket in Times Square...it always makes me feel more confident in my decisions when I hear that other people have read or are going to be reading the same things 😂

I get those same “another book?!” comments from my family members! I just can’t help myself!! 😉

The audio book of A Cricket in Time Square was so good. My kids loved listening to it. We also listened to the Vanderbeekers series and enjoyed it. It's similar to the Penderwicks but has a different family style

We read George Mueller this year and loved it. Also, Paddington was a favorite a couple years ago. We have The Vanderbeekers on our TBR list this year, too! The Great Turkey Walk is so much fun. I love your book videos. Thank you!

We're reading a cricket in times square this year as well! Love hearing book ideas, they are so helpful 🙂 haha, yea my husband is always building me more bookshelves, its crazy, but worth it! Lol
Another question - how do you know how long it's going to take you to read each book? And do you like, "schedule it out"? Or just, kinda wing it?

My girls and I have read this separately and we absolutely loved it. They also read her other a whale in the wild. I’m planning on reading it soon.
    All those books sound good!

We read The Great Turkey Walk when my boys were in 5th and 3rd grade. It was OK. However, there was a small moment in the book where there is a woman somewhat inappropriately coming on to the main character. It's a short moment in the book, however I was blindsided by it and it felt very awkward for me to be reading it to my boys. Others might think it was no big deal, but I sure wish someone had told me about it ahead of time. Maybe you'd want to preview this one to see if it's right for your family...🤷‍♀️😊

We are going to use Morning Time by Brighter Day Press too! I’m so excited. I was planning on using Simply Charlotte Masons enrichment studies and I will still prob incorporate a few aspects of it but Brighter Day’s seems a little more doable. I’ve never read The Witch of Blackbird Pond but it seems to be well loved. Adding it to my TBR.

The Great Turkey Walk is so fun! My boys were not into The Cricket in Times Square. You have so many great choices. I'm adding McBroom's Wonderful One Acre Farm to my list, I had never heard of it!

We read Amos fortune free man a few years ago as part of not grass history. I'm pretty sure there was nothing innopropriate, I think it would be fine for a read aloud.

I've looked, but do you have any videos on the read alouds your family did when studying ancient history? We're doing year 1 of Biblioplan this year and I'm overwhelmed by all the book lists! Looking for some really entertaining reads for my 13, 11, 8 and 6 yr old.

I don’t think I did a video when we did Ancient. But some good ones are; detectives in Togas (fun), the Golden Goblet, the Bronze Bow, The Cat of Bubastas, and Greek myths fit well with that time as well. Some of the imagination station books set in ancient times would fit in well too! And so would a couple of the Ranger in Time series books.

@@PenniesAndSalt thank you so much! We already have Bronze Bow and Golden Goblet on our list to read, so I'll look into the others! I've been hesitant to introduce Greek Myths to my kids, especially the younger ones. Maybe I'll save those just for my 2 oldest boys.

How do you connect your phone to your car audio so it's loud enough for all to hear? I've had a lot of trouble with this and maybe its bc my car is 12 years old...

      Haha, I feel ya - I drive a '99 Chevy Venture.
They actually make blue tooth cassette tapes, where you put the tape in the tape deck, then blue tooth it to your phone. It's worked pretty well for us!
Also, if you don't have a tape deck, they have some pretty impressive tiny blue tooth speakers out there.
