    Very helpful. Any tips on how to prevent your model from tensing up before the water hits? Your one scene in which multiple people are tossing water needs to be coordinated so I assume your model is in a Zen moment :)

    Hi, great lesson! I do have a question though: if freezing objects requires reducing the amount of ambient light, won’t increasing the ISO as is shown in this video make the camera sensor more sensitive to ambient light, thereby contributing to motion blur? Thanks.

      You are correct, but it still depends on the amount of ambient light in the room. If it is not adding to your exposure you are ok.

    I just purchased a Godox QT 300iii strobe for freezing motion. I have a Nikon D750 and my camera shoots 6fps in continous high. Is that the limit on how many shots I can capture?? Is there a work around where I can shoot more fps with my freeze flash strobe ( as it has the capability)? I'm new to shooting like this but I want to shoot hair in motion and now I can with the flash. Also what is the best focal setting to shoot in? Thank you for the amazing video! I ALWAYS learn so much from you💓 Your the best! 🙏

      If you camera has a 6fps limit there is not way to exceed this without using a different camera.
      Focal length really depends on your style, but the further away you are the less likely you are to water drops on the lens.
      You are very welcome.

    Clearly it comes to you need better equipment to achieve it. Definitely need a strobe light that have a "freeze mode" option.😓

    Thank you but I am a newbee and don't understand smth...you use 3 strobes with the same recycle time? So the one with the rimlight on it's also a quik recycle time strobe?
    Thank you!!
    Is it very important to use such a strobe to fill in light, of can I also use an avarage strobe? Or then will it not flash?
    I have to look into your lessons. UA-cam is def not enough.
    Thank you so much in advance !

    can you do this with the Profoto A1X ? also If you dont have a flash meter can this be done ?

    • @philipjacob5878
      @philipjacob5878 4 роки тому

      i have same question

    • @YogueDaddy
      @YogueDaddy 4 роки тому +3

      The Profoto A1X is a speedlight, thus, a flash controlled by IGBT circuitry. Since IGBT flashes control their power levels by cutting the flash curve tails, a speedlight will have the best freezing capacity at the lowest power settings. If you put your A1X at 1/128, it will be blazing fast and freeze almost anything that's not a bullet in flight.

      @@YogueDaddy Einstein 640 in action mode and low power does the same. Not sure about a speeding bullet, but close.

    • @YogueDaddy
      @YogueDaddy 4 роки тому +1

      Herman Surkis That's because the Einstein is a flash with IGBT circuitry and no, it won't freeze a speeding bullet. Not even close. You need a air gap flash for this or the Vela One.

      @@YogueDaddy Well if you get Superman to run/fly with the bullet and take the pic, you could use a much slower speed. ;)

    Very interesting but you need a pro flash and the meter I have and L-308S-U But they don;t have the properties for your work.

    • @hermansurkis9229
      @hermansurkis9229 4 роки тому +1

      You need a pro-meter to measure the flash speed, not to use it. With speedlights turn the power way down, that is how they freeze hummingbird wings. With studio strobes turn the power down to no more than 1/4 power. And with decent, newer strobes also turn on action mode. With continuous light, many newer cameras will go up to 1/4000 or better, but you will need a hellish amount of light or ISO and wide-wide open.

      When I use 35mm you only have 1/60 in sped and on 2 1/4 cameras wit leave shutter up to 500 and for me the older flashes have more light duration in my modes opinion.

    • @hermansurkis9229

      @@josea.justiniano3329 Not sure what you are saying. That is an issue of Focal Plane Shutter vs Leaf Shutter. You can get an FP shutter in a 2 1/4, although not often. They tend to be Leaf Shutter.
      The limit is not 35mm etc, but the syc speed for the camera. For some it is 1/120, and for others it can be as high as 1/300. Usual is around 1/200. But the speed of the camera is only impacted by ambient light, not the flash. The flash, unless very old, is much faster that any sync speed, and that is the effective shutter exposure. The exposure is determined by the aperture, ISO and power of the flash.
      Whether you can freeze motion is simply a factor of shutter speed, but with flash, that is your shutter speed. Lindsay has some neat tutorials on this. And if needs be, search.
