Having owned 6 SD1's, I never get tired of that fantastic V8 sound & still think it is one of the best looking cars ever, especially in moonraker blue 👍
Another great video mate, Nice to see the wee man getting involved to👍 the Rover is sounding very nice and very responsive the V8’s sound amazing especially with the stainless exhaust great work 👍 looking forward to the heading I will email you how it’s fixed in if that helps 👍
@@RetroRatchet yeah pretty much the rest of the headlong os held in place with the grab handles, rear view mirror and the sun visors on the front, I took off the interior light surrounds on the pillars and rear interior light surrounds to aid fitting my new one and then refitted the surrounds that helped hold it in place 👍
Sounds pretty awesome mate, good to see you driving around on some familiar roads that are close to me, also your old escort is currently parked behind my house so I see it on a daily basis 😂
Great to see your son learning. My late Dad used to do the same thing so i picked up all his skills while i was still a kid. Most of the modern generation now would not even know what a Carb is, let alone how to rebuild one. Any thoughts on putting the injection back on ?. Do you still have the computer and wiring loom ?. Mind you an 80's BL computer is probably not the most reliable. Could be replaced with a modern DIY alternative like Speeduino. Super cheap, open source, and very powerful.
Thats nice to hear a bit of your backstory, yeah i really hope these are skills he continues to grow as it will be a dying art by the time he is older! The re instatement back to inj, is purely a time constraint issue, with the other projects. All the system was ripped out but i gather not too hard to source. Id only go original, i think, for value etc
Love the sd1 even though ive only ever seen one in my country. The biggest hatchback id ever seen then. Wish the exhaust was better tucked up under the back, and was straight out rather than to the side. Dad did straight pipes at the back of his XJ6 and the car looked so much better for it. With better boot seals of course.
Moonraker Blue is number 1, followed by Targa Red. I'd be surprised if the twin-plenum provides much more grunt than what you have - and on your roads, do you need more? I'm in Australia, I have 2 SD1 V8 projects - I daily drive an LS400. I've had the LS400 to 240kmh (private road, of course... :). I have been to the Midlands and had enough fun in an Astra 1.4. If I were in the UK, I'd probably have a 6 cylinder, tops. It's not just the fuel prices - you don't have the roads to enjoy a long-legged V8. It's very sad - you've made great V8 cars - but even crossing into Wales, there was no road I would have even been able to enjoy stretching the LS's legs. Aside from all that, you've got a nice car in that Moonraker SD1 - keep it, refine it, enjoy it. You'll not get that sound out of anything else for the money. In Australia there are V8s everywhere - quite modern as well as old. The old are gutless and greedy, but sound awesome and have personality. The newer are very quick and better on fuel, but have no character - the 1UZFE VVTi I have is a marvel - never had the heads off at 580,000 kms, still does its factory 0-100kmh time - but is boring. The Rover V8 never ever fails to raise a smile, even when I hear them burbling along in a Rangie. I look forward to more vids of the Vitesse - don't get rid of it - you will regret it. All the best.

You certainly look pleased with the progress on the car. Will await your next update keenly.

There's always more than ONE deer!
Whenever one crosses in front of me, I go down to walking pace.
At least there were only 2 🫢
Great result buddy she sounds gorgeous!! Close call with the deer! 😮
I know mate -the camera made it look further away than it was in real life lol

Weren't Vitesse all Injected?
originally yes, checkout some earlier vids, explains a little more about this cars history.
😱The worst car I ever had...spend more time at the dealer then on the road!
ah, that's a pity, but I can see why !
