It has to be said - this is yet another exceptional series by an exceptional cricket analysis account on UA-cam. Jarrod is inching his way closer to the status of GOAT in cricket analysis, and certainly is one of the current Goats in visual essays about cricket. Fantastic, as expected.

Nice touch using the background of The Basin Reserve while talking about Bert Vance. The stand in the background of most shots is the Museum Stand, right next to that is the R.A. Vance stand, named for his father, with the giant A-frame peaked roofline.

In that series where Lou scored that century NZ almost rolled over probably crickets greatest ever side twice at home. So close yet so far!

The whole video, and especially the Bert vance bit, has a strong Jon Bois vibe. I almost felt like I was watching a cricket themed Bob Emergency.

8:15 - Parker was actually my club cricket coach - he was the batsman in the famous photo/story of Michael Holding kicking over the stumps when a caught behind wasn't given out

Good ole 'Shaker''Wright making an appearence at the end there - there was a very long wait for a decent opener for NZ when he retired.

I remember Lou Vincent playing over here in Australia in the early 2000s. Aside from a few good knocks, I also remember him as an excellent ODI fieldsman.
I can't condone what he did, but I admire his guts for coming clean and setting a good example for his kids.

Cheers Jarrod, great content as always but especially appreciate NZ content!
Bryan Young is another mystery from the 90s with a big double-ton at home. More recently, two-metre Peter - whose only 2 tons came in the same Eden Park match v ENG.
I think Rigor is an amateur pilot, and that a few top order cricketers seem to study piloting for some reason.

Nathan astle: as a kid, i idolized this guy. Especially the 222 he made.. the 10 yr old me was jumping up and down when he was smacking caddick all over the park. The times, i prayed for this fella or the times i cursed this guy for playing a square cut. But the thing is those square cuts, when hit right, were so beautiful to watch... Then he retired only to rekindle his love for moto racing haha.. love u astle, thank you. And thank you to black caps of the 90s..a tru under dog everytime. Thank you nairobi 2000 or the wills champions trophy 98.. i still remember you lot clinching the win out Zimbabwe's hand. Thank you thank you

To quote another famous Australia Cricketing UA-camr.
Most New Zealand openers are Bits n Prices cricketers. Decent batsment shoved in at the top because no one else could, would and or should.

But its terrible to see Lou Vincent in the state he is presently selling fish charters
and not even being able to see his kids play! The reaction to his match fixing was over the top especially if you consider there is a man in politics and in media at the present moment who also fixed matches

And at least he openly admitted it.
He was also a very talented cricketer in my opinion, what runs he didn't score he regularly made up for with amazing fielding.

Vance must have been an ideal candidate for match fixing. 77 runs in one over?
